A Festivus MMP For The Rest Of Us

I did brave the sto’ today to buy good quality oj as instead of Bloody Mary’s, we shall make merry with mimosas. I suggested this since BM’s will be the drink of the day for NYD and plus also, I have three bottles of chilled champagne which should be more than enough. JDD and Partner liked the idea so mimosas it shall be. Other than that I have done next to nuttin’. Nice day!

Sunny hope the antibiotics clear things right up and soonest.

Next to nuttin’ sounds about right.

I’m doing a quick swing through the Board, and then I shall play video games. I mean, I shall rest. That’s the ticket.

I tried but couldn’t make head nor tails of the lyrics. But it’s a great idea anyhow.

This is my favorite bit of Christmas music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DTwLqR071M. Those guys are priceless.

Back from watching Darkest Hour and if you say you can recognize Gary Oldman as Churchill you are a stone-cold liar. But go see it, lots of talking and not much action, but Oldman should cop an Oscar nomination for best actor for this. Might be in limited release now to get him eligible, but if it’s around go see it.

OK, end shilling…temperature is dropping and it’s still cloudy and damp, but the gas tank is full and the boarding passes are printed, so ready for my Texas two-flight tomorrow.

Ok, now the weather guessers are making noises for a East Coast blizzard NYE.

This is not going to end well…

rediscovered an old game www.nationstates.net its quick easy and funny

hoping this week goes fast as xmas was shot to hell by others in more ways than one for me personally…

I’ve just seen a trailer. He looks like Churchill, but I don’t believe that he sounds like Churchill. Why the title, “Darkest Hour”?

“If the British Empire should live for a thousand years, they will say, “This was their finest hour.””

Got a new electric outdoor grill and it passed its second test today; it’s not awesome but we’ll keep it. Grilled a nice porterhouse washed down with a good cab sauv.

Now we’ve got premiership rugby (Saracens vs. Exeter) on the telly and all is right with the world. I do NOT understand how rugby hasn’t totally pushed the NFL out of the USA. Instead stupid soccer seems to be gaining ground as the USA’s 5th pro sport after football, baseball, basketball, and ice hockey. Rugby is such a better fit for the American fans’ approach to sport. It’s not nearly as advertising-friendly as is NFL, so that’s probably the major obstacle.

Something concerning wearing armo(u)r playing a sport, testosterone poisoning and beer.

Q: Do you smoke after sex?
A: I don’t know, I never looked.

I was planning on a long run this morning; filled up the water bottles & put a bar & a gel in my running vest…& then promptly left it at home. :smack: Ended up only doing 6, in the rain & 45°, with the others. There was [del]smoke[/del] steam coming off of all of us when we finished. When I sat on the covered bench, I could see it rising off my thighs. I’ve seen if come off head/shoulders before but don’t believe I’ve seen it from thighs before.

Fully changed in the car because everything was wet & then went to the Post Office - My friend, who doesn’t even live in the area had a major (second section, front page, above the fold, continued inside, multiple pictures) article about her. It was in the online version on Sun. I’ve been going to the story everyday since to see if it was in so that I could buy some to mail to her. On Thursday, I finally gave up & went to the USPS to mail her Xmas gift separately because the article wasn’t in the printed paper yet. Of course Mr. Murphy played his hand & it was in Firday’s paper. When the 'eck did the newspaper go up to $2?

Then I went to the ♪dun, dun, dun♫ Maul. Mainly because it’s inside & I could walk around w/o getting wet (again). Got everything I wanted, which consisted of 1) lunch & 2) something that I need for me that I can’t mention.

Then I had adventures in getting bang powder; the store I went to last night doesn’t carry it; the store I went to today closed early for the holiday. I found another store that sells it & they did sell it to me, despite the fact that he informed me that my license is expired. Told me I was the second one today. I was very 'fraid driving home that I’d get pulled over, but I’m legal now thanks to online services.

I was also able to buy all the less-than-good elves both w/o legal ID & more than is legal to buy (stoopit arcane laws). They are currently just chilling awaiting tomorrow evening when they can hang out with George Bailey.
I’m also wondering if Wegman’s is racist as they don’t have any Black Elves. :dubious:

Good, but this is still the best Christmas song ever! Unfortunately, I forgot after plans changed, I could have gone to see them tonight in Chocolatetown.

You have friends?
Do you pay them, or is it blackmail?

I thought I’d drop this in here, today being Festivus and all.

'Twas the night before Festivus and all through Queens,
Not a Costanza was yelling…as strange as it seems.
The family was sleeping, just waiting for light.
Saving their strength for the upcoming fight.

At the crack of dawn on December twenty-three,
Frank put up the pole… instead of a tree.
Estelle prepared the meal that would start the rite,
Not a laugh or a smile was anywhere in sight.

George dreaded this hour that came every year,
The airing of grievances would soon be here.
Frank stood at the table and bellowed out loud,
“So who’s got a complaint amongst this crowd?”

“You two are crazy and have wrecked my life!”,
Cried George at his parents who mocked him for spite.
"A Lloyd Braun you’ll never be " was Estelle’s refrain,
“Why should I try, ma?.. The guy’s insane!”

“Enough with the grievances,” Frank said with some glee,
“Now which one of you two is wrestling me?”
"So feats of strength you want? Let them begin here,
“It’s your turn to fight him, mom… he beat me last year.”

The battle was started, the screaming was lyrical,
The fact no one got hurt was … ANOTHER FESTIVUS MIRACLE!!!

Work was insnae busy. But Canes won. IT’S ANOTHER FESTIVUS MIRACLE!

:mad::mad::mad: i HADE SHARING THE FROZEN TUNDRA WITH IDIOTS.

Oh, there’s plenty of testosterone and beer involved in rugby. That’s why I like it.

“If you smoke after sex, you’re not using enough lube.”

: holds up lighter :

I stopped at Harris Teeter, but they were out of my flavor of coffee beans. Kroger had it, and I forgot I had a $1.40 E-coupon for it. IT’S ANOTHER FESTIVUS MIRACLE!

Everyone at a certain grocery store today should be assigned the labors of tantalus. Among other high lights, the stuffing for the turkey (not the gravy, the broth, or any other food associated with turkey dinner) got moved to seasonal decorations. That’s right - if you want stuffing with your turkey, it’s up with stockings and holiday lights.

So begins 48+ hours of family breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

::checks email & forecast::
::Puts phne down, rolls over::
::back to Zzzzzz::
:frowning:

Either my phone or my tablet chirped an alarm at 5:30 so I’m awake. I took Higgs out then fed her and for the moment, she’s on the couch beside me.

Daughter and SIL will get here this evening, and the rest of the family will come over in the morning. Not at all looking forward to seeing BIL the jerk, but I can ignore him, I think.

MIL plans to bake 2 pies, then the turkey. Dunno if she’ll want my help. I hope to finish SIL’s afghan - the body is done but I need to cut and weave a metric buttload of strands. We’re going to Firehouse subs for lunch. That’s pretty much all that’s planned.
Merry Christmas Eve!!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 64 and cloudy for the day with possible rain this afternoon. Tomorrow promises to be cooler and N.O.S. we shall see. I shall deheathenate this mornin’ (It’s Advent Four!) where I shall serve as the non-cannibal kind of Lector. I shall also attend Christmas Eve service this evenin’ (duh!). I have ush duty then. Nappage shall ensue this afternoon.

::sniff:: Brilliant! Just Brilliant ::sniff:: ::golf clap::

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Purtification for deheathenization must also commence at some point.

Happy Sunday/Christmas Eve Y’all!

Happy Sunday!

Merry Christmas Eve!

It’s a dark 36 degrees outside.

I woke up earlier than I wanted but once up, I’m up.
I’m semi-watching Der Bestatter, which is kind of pointless.
I don’t speak German, and if I’m not going to read the sub-titles I have no clue what is going on.

Not much to do today. Pack some stuff to take with us tomorrow. I have to remember to pack some dog food.
I may have to do some laundry. I hope not because I don’t feel like it today.
We need to clip the puppy’s nails.
He’s no where near as bad about it as Mackie was, but it still takes two of us. One to hold him and one to do the clipping.
I have a gift around here somewhere for my grand-niece that I need to find. We looked for it yesterday, I know it is somewhere in the mess that is the middle bedroom.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.

Good day, folks.
Today I’ll be getting things ready for Christmas.
