A Friday The Thirteenth MMP

Just call me Magellan. On second thought, don’t, as he pissed off the wrong guy and didn’t survive the trip. Anyway, yesterday I fulfilled a long-time dream and walked completely around a local lake. The trail I thought might take me ended up looping back, but I found an alternate route. 20,000 steps/almost 8 miles later, I got home exhausted and footsore. I feel so wimpy. What happened to the woman who hiked 12 miles of mountain? Six years, I guess.

Today I have to hit the gym. I also have to walk to PT. You’d think with all this exercixe, I’d be in better shape.

Rebo, Lola is so cute! She’s obviously an asset to the company, even though she sleeps on the job.

FCM, bless you for your patience with generations younger and older. I always figure even if one can only enjoy sitting in the sun, life is worth living. Still, I can only imagine how hard it is for all, including your FIL, to deal with the dementia and the loss of the person he was.

shoe, glad you checked in. If that manager’s job deprives us of shoe-time, we just might have something to say about that.

I’m glad you’re still kicking. Please remember to eat. We lurves you. :people_hugging:

Surprising good news from GEICO - they decided that the accident wasn’t my fault and they’re pursuing the bus company’s insurance for payment. AND they’ve advanced me my deductible amount ahead of the case being resolved. So huzzah! I won’t be out $1K for something that wasn’t my fault! And the peasants rejoiced!!!

OK, last load needs to come out of the dryer. Tobester just woke, so I guess he needs new britches. So much for my quiet…

Work should have a naptime. Really, they should just pay me for no other reason than that I’m nice. No? Nobody?

It’s super hot again. Going outside is like getting slapped upside the head with a sauna. I didn’t go for my morning waddle and am trying to figure out when to fit it in this evening. I’m also getting up with my friend at the ungodly time of 5 a.m. I will complain 'til the cows come home and do it anyway. So there.

Tobias has been returned to his maternal unit. The quiches are in the oven. FIL is napping after his trip to the dentist. It rained, and it may rain some more. But laundry is done and I’s tahred…

It’s been Friday the Thirteenth all week thanks to hubs and his big mouth. Lets see, you all know about the plumbing issues (our kitchen sink works again and the plumber will be here tomorrow for the exploded water control system) and I think I told you about the power outage and lack of internet, but I don’t remember telling you about the neighbor’s cat getting skunked.

O’Malley likes our yard better than his yard because we have a covered porch with a swing and cushions on the furniture. He also likes to rub against us and want picking up and scratching. With the exception of carrying water out for the plants and birds, I have lost the use of our patio until the stink wears off the cat.

And…today I was getting ready to pick up our surplus produce box when hubs told me that our chest freezer wasn’t working. Nice. I cancelled lunch with my friend so I could move things around while hubs went to town for a new freezer.

I probably shouldn’t say this, but we were pretty lucky. Hubs was able to buy a larger freezer for less than we paid for the old one and renting a trailer was cheaper than having the freezer delivered plus we got it right away instead of next week. Some of the smaller packages of chicken thawed out but mostly everything stayed hard and we only lost a package of rolls.

Currently there are two houses a couple of streets over that are on fire and hubs is trying to find a pet friendly hotel in Prescott because we really don’t want to go to Phoenix. Our house isn’t in danger, I don’t think, but we can’t have the cats breathing the smoke. Houses don’t burn clean.

I will be really happy when the week of a thousand cuts is over.

Howdy Y’all! As promised, today has been a day of sloth and overall uselessness. We had some quality cee-mint pond time and achiReeved nappage and day drinkin’. Sup also got cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Now it’s back to chill time. I envision mowin’ the yahd tomorrow. We shall see.

Rebo Lola is a cutie pie! ::skritches:: Plus, there is nuttin’ wrong with takin’ a little power nap after workin’ as hard as I know she did!

MOOOOOOM good news indeed from the insurance folk!

Nellie just readin’ about that walk makes me want to take a nap.

shoe good to know you are still kickin, but how dare irk get in the way of postin’ in the MMP!

{{{Jane The Cane}}} so sorry it’s been such a sucky week!

Send chocolate hell, I think this calls for a case of hard liquor Mooooooom. Dementia sucks to the nth degree.

Squee! Lola is adorable rebo. She actually reminds me of Nelson’s little sister / cousin in looks (it’s the ears…Nelson, his father and his brother / cousin have them too).

Congrats for achieving your walking goal nellie.

Glad you’re still kicking shoe.

{{{jane the cane}}} Sounds like Murphy was in charge of your household this week.

Awesome news! Yesterday, my irk team knocked it out of the park. Our bag and tag rate broke a record by several percentage points.

Came home from irk to the lawn being mowed. Unfortunately, when they were mowing and trimming my little patch outside of my patio, they broke my clay pot of peppermint. :frowning: I have extra pots to repot, but I wish they’d be more careful.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Yeah, I think that sums it up. The dentist told FIL that the filling on his tooth might last a few days, a few months, or a few years - hard to tell. I know FCD once had a temporary crown that lasted several years.

The quiche was really good, but I wish I’d put more swiss in it. Dishes are done, so chillage will ensue. Tomorrow, I have to take Higgs to the groomer, and I’m going to run to the dollar store and maybe to Food Lion to look for formula. And I think tomorrow’s supper will be a pasta bake. But that’s for tomorrow.

I am firing my pedometer app. It’s underestimating the distances walked by quite a bit. For instance, I walked to PT today, which I know by Google Maps and car mileage is 1.8 miles from my home. The pedometer app said it was .93 miles. Accordingly, I recalculated yesterday’s walk: it was almost 9 miles, not almost 8.

Cue up “Pomp and Circumstance”: I have graduated from PT! If anyone asks, why, yes, I’d love a new car as a gift. I had a student once whose parents gave her a brand new sporty car for eighth grade graduation. She’d just turned 14. (In WY, you can get a “hardship” license at that age.) Within a week, the car was totaled. Luckily nobody was hurt.

I transplanted my fuchsia into the window box on my balcony railing. I think I’ll cover them tonight, as there’s a nip in the air. I named them after my son and DIL’s three dogs.

Jane the Cane, what a gauntlet of a week! Sounds like you could use a stiff drink or whatever the cannabis equivalent is. (A stiff joint sounds wrong.) Also, yikes on the smoke. Are the houses burning because of wildfires, or did one house fire spread to the next one or what? Hope you get to sweeter air. Maybe tomorrow will be your lucky day, and some HAPPY surprises will happen.

I’ve been using Map My Walk. Recently I’ve been using WoofTrax so as to (I think) walk for donations to The NOAH Center (animal rescue where we got our cats). Map My Walk shows longer distances than WoofTrax. I know from using an online site that three trips around the park is two miles, and I think I used the car’s trip meter and got the same distance. When I use Map My Walk, it shows three laps around the park to be 2 miles (or 2.05 miles). Someone said Map My Run is 4% to 6% optimistic, but I don’t know if it’s related to Map My Walk. Someone posted on myfitnesspal that Map My Walk is accurate for distance.

Map My Walk is what I use for recording my walks.

Got carted off to the E.R. today, so that was suuuuuuper fun.
Official diagnosis: anxiety/panic attack (“thanks, coulda told you that m’damn self”) and now I’m just trying to get myself back together.

Kudos to the EMT who kindly suggested I put on a shirt, before they carted me off, so at least my taxi ride home wouldn’t be a total embarrassment.

Yes, barefoot going home (they took my sandals in the ambulance) in nothing but a t-shirt and my undies. But a big shirt, so it covered my, ah, stuff.

Oh, and I’ve got bruises from work (those heavy boxes will getcha!) so I had to have a weird extended convo with a concerned social worker.
“Do you live alone?”
“No. I live with Monkey.”
… hmm
“Did Monkey hurt you?”
LOL

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. It hasn’t been the best week, but at least I didn’t fall and break both arms. Not that I was in any danger of doing that, but my BFF did a year ago and it really didn’t seem like she had a whole lot of fun, so I always remind myself that broken pipes aren’t broken arms.

There was a time when all of these unexpected urgent expenses in one week would have been a huge disaster so I’m also very thankful that we aren’t there now. Plus, we didn’t break both arms!

Hubs was able to get us a suite with separate bedroom with a door so we can keep the cats in there without worrying that one of them will scamper out the front door. VBC has already puked on the bed.

The house fires weren’t wildfire involved, rumor has it that kids and cigarettes were involved but I don’t know how much I trust my sources. We will get the official story from the blotters anyhow.

Jeeze louise, what am I whining about. Please oh please take care of yourself.

Oh no. This sucks. I hope they get it under control quickly.

Aaack! I hope you’re ok.

shoe, so sorry about the necessity for the ambulance ride. Are you doing any better? Was the panic attack due to the new responsibilities, do you think?

I’ll check back after I walk to the store. My Instacart order is in some weird limbo. It was supposed to arrive between 4 and 6 and is now slated for 7, which means they couldn’t find a shopper. I tip well, so I don’t understand. I think it’ll get canceled, so I’m going to go, myself, despite the factI’ll have the babushka cart and may not get home until dark. I tried to cancel it myself, but the order, which shows up on the current orders, doesn’t show up where I have to cancel. I am not happy.

/Shakes fist at Instacart/

Yikes shoe! I hope that you are getting along better now.

FCM, this is what my older nephew did. He went straight from being on his belly to walking, no crawling in between. It was hard keeping up.

I got a problem InstaCart myself (I am VERY skeptical that that store really had only one of the four items on my list, in alternate brand, wound up cancelling the whole deal after enduring attitude and dishonesty about whether pictures had been sent to me), and DoorDash went down while I had an order in transit. It did reach me, and I did get the usual confirmations that delivery had happened, so I hope my driver got his tip properly.

I’m sure he did.

Just as I was digging the babushka cart out of the closet, I got a notice saying Natalie was shopping my order, so I didn’t have to go out after all. Good thing, as it’s freezing out there. This is turning into the Year Without a Spring.

Howdy all. rebo Lola is a darling. Love her.

I got a delivery today of more pots for my flowers. Or rather plants. I also received a shipment of more succulents. I have a plant stand on order and a grow light so I can keep some plants inside. I have spent a fortune so far on pots, soil and plants. I also ordered three ledge pots 36” long to go onto the porch. Tomorrow I shall finish the repotting. I have about 50 tomato plants that I grew from seed. They all look very healthy and I also have yellow bell peppers and jalapeños from seed. Seeds are cheap. I think I shall do seeds going forth. I will pot a few of the bigger tomato pants too. The cucumber is getting tied up tomorrow as it’s ready to start climbing.

I still want a couple of citrus trees. They aren’t cheap either. I saw some at the Home Depot the other day but I will get mine from a nursery instead.

Almost the weekend. Stay safe everyone.
