I was just thinking, the way this week seems to be going, we should all be bracing for tomorrow.
{{{shoe}}} Take care of yourself.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!
“Only because I spanked him”
{{{{shoe}}}}
{{{{Jane The Cane}}}}
Well, now y’all got an early start on your Festivus grievances.
Oddly enough, I sent my knives out to be sharpened. They’re coming back today.
I did not know that, but wholeheartedly agree! I was born on the 13th (a Wednesday) and, if anything, the 13th of each month seems luckier than average.
I have to pick the car up from the garage - fortunately they had the suspension part in stock, so we just had the loaner overnight. It’s the first hybrid I’ve driven and the regenerative braking took a little getting used to (found myself off the gas coming to a junction and then back on it, as I was slowing too quickly), but watching the dash show the battery adding energy to the wheels or the opposite were fascinating and very addictive.
Morning, mumpers! Happy Friday 13th! I’m working from home today, weather app says it’s 14c/58f and cloudy: “Sometimes, stratus clouds are known as “high fog”. I knew it! Fucking dope smokers!”
shoe sorry to hear you had an impromptu ambulance ride, hope you are feeling better now. We’re still here, in your corner!
nellie well done on the walking, you must be fit as a butcher’s dog by now.
Jane the Cane sorry the week has sucked so much, let’s hope for a better weekend.
Mooooom the insurance people have seen sense! Huzzah!
Busy day for me, got lots to do but little enthusiasm. Oh well, better get another cup of tea and get on with it…
Well, that was an exciting early-ass morning. I woke a bit after 1 for no apparent reason. I tried reading, then playing boring tablet games, but I’d get tired, so I’d put the tablet away, then I’d start thinking and I was wide awake.ugh! Then around 4, I heard a gawd-awful noise from the guest room - FIL fell out of bed. So FCD got up to help his dad to the bathroom, then back to bed. Honest-to-goodness, I don’t know how he intends to get his dad on and off the boat. Even if not for all the spinal surgeries, he’d have a heck of a time. I’m hoping it pours down rain on Moanday so we can’t go.
Anyway, everyone fell back to sleep - I even managed to nap on and off till a bit after 6. But now I’m up. rah. It’s a rainy day. Higgs goes to the groomer at 8:30. I’m going in search of baby formula. SIL will be here around noon with the Tobester - I’ll keep the baby, he’ll take the truck to Daughter’s school so they can borrow a couple of tables and some chairs for the party. They’ll start setting up the basement, and it’ll get finished tomorrow.
I’m thinking I’ll make bean soup for supper, but I need to get the beans. Nothing else is planned yet. But I foresee a looooooong day/
Happy Firday, 13th or not.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 85 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for this mornin’ and afternoon. Thus, I shall postpone mowage until next week. Sounds like this will be a good day to stay inside and dry. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.
{{{Shoe}}} YIKES! Take care of yourself and hope you’re better today.
I’ve never used Instacart and the tales of woe I am seein’ make me not want to do so.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy FIRDAY THE THIRTEENTH Y’all!
Good morning! Happy Friday the 13th. Today is a WORK-IN-THE-OFFICE day, and my cow-irker happens to be my supervisor. I hate it when that happens. It’s harder to goof off! But as long as I’m typing he can hear that I’m irkin’.
Yesterday kind of sucked. I told y’all my son is looking to get divorced, right? But he needs to get all his ducks in a row before he springs it on her. So WE have to stay quiet about it, even though DIL spends money on things like going on a trip to Louisiana, then ARKANSAS* for God’s sake, then has the unmitigated GALL to ask US for money because son’s check was small. They are behind on all their bills. We have been subsidizing them for over a year. Last year was over $20k, and this year is already up to $8k, not including getting their vehicles inspectable - new tires, etc.
AND I am a co-signer on her car. So we went onto the website and paid the car note PLUS late fees, PLUS May’s car payment. It affects my credit! We plan to repossess her car eventually.
To tell you the truth, I have been the one that is the enabler. Mr Rebo has put up with it to keep me happy, but I’ve finally seen the light. Mostly due to Mr Rebo’s health issues, which might include a liver transplant in the near future. We have been using our 401K to supplement THEIR income, and we have stopped.
All hell broke loose, and my phone blew up. She doesn’t know we paid the car note yet, because I really don’t want to talk to her.
*Turns out, she cheated on my son with a friend she found on TIk-Tok, and they want to be together. DIL says she wants to be in a relationship with the OTHER WOMAN as well as my son. That went over like a lead balloon.
Jeez, this is fucked up.
{{shoe}} I hope you’re feeling better. {{Mooom}} I hope you survive the in-laws visit. I hope it rains for you! Jane the Cane I hope things get better for you, too.
Le sigh. Gotta figure out what I can work on that doesn’t take any brain power, since all I can do is worry about the kids, and Mr. Rebo. Thanks for listening, Mumpers.
I hope that your FIL isn’t too banged up Mooooooom. IMHO, he has no business on the boat, what with FCD’s mobility issues, you could wind up with two patients.
Damn, that sucks about your son and DIL rebo. I hope that the planned exit doesn’t get more dramatic than it already is.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels and sheets (and Nelson’s lovey, Rocky Raccoon) are ready for the dryer and a load of clothes on deck. Nelson is pacing at the laundry room door and crying. He gets pretty nervous when there’s a closed door between him and Rocky, but when the lovey gets a bit crusty, in the wash he goes.
Friday chores up for the day and possibly a trip to the dog park this afternoon.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
We got a call late yesterday that the appraisal for the house met the buyer’s offer, so the last hurdle is gone. We sign today, which is a nice B-day present.
Reminds me of my brother’s ex - she was OK with being married to him. She just didn’t want to have to LIVE with him. Seriously???
Hope your son does everything he needs to protect himself and his assets. His wife sounds like a real piece of work!
FCD agrees with me. We may just take them to the marina and point out the boat, but I don’t see how we can let him aboard. Especially since the tide has been especially high making it a challenge for us to get aboard. But I’m letting him deal with it.
Happy Cookie Day!!!
Yay for a quick closing!
Higgs is at the groomers. I ran into the dollar store and scored the last can of baby formula, plus I got a little gizmo that MIL saw at her sister’s house and said she wanted. So I scored DIL points!
I just finished moving the stuff in the basement so daughter and SIL can start setting up for the party. FCD is at the boat for a little bit and the inlaws are watching a show about bees in Australia. I need to vacuum, but I’ll do it later. So for now, I can chill a bit.
I think I messed up on a family issue. Note to self: Check label on can. if it says “WORMS,” do not open. It’ll work out. Or start WWIII.
Today’s excitement includes calling my (late) mom’s old neighbors. We’ve kept in touch all these years because they loved her dearly. She was very easy to love. Then maintenance is coming by to change a lightbulb and encourage the tub drain. At some point, I’ll head to the gym.
Wishing everyone a lucky day today! I’m not sure why 13 is considered a lucky number in Italy. I think Mom said it was something to do with 12 apostles+Jesus. Makes sense. After all, the bad stuff didn’t really happen until there were 11+JC. But I’m not sure Mom knew. She was only 9 when she came here.
Moooom, I shall hope for rain on Monday and better sleep for you tonight.
swampy, does rain mean the day drinkin’ happens indoors, or do you and OYKW abstain in case one of you has to steer the ark?
Rebo, I hope your son can get his ducks lined up quickly with no stragglers. Divorce is stressful, but so is a bad marriage.
No, but I’m stealing that expression! I love your forecast.
Hiya, JustinC. You new around these here parts? Good luck with the car stuff!
Yaaay on the house, **cookie!**And Happy Birthday!
I want this on a t-shirt, or embroidered on a pillow!
Talked to the G.M. and explained some stuff. Imma take today off so I don’t wind up right back where I was.
I feel horrible making everyone else work so much harder, but … that’s how I got here, too.
Happy Cookie day! I had a feeling it was today, but had to read through loads to make sure I’d got the right day.
shoe do what’s best for you, the rest of 'em will have to deal with it otherwise you’ll end up in a worse state than before.
Good morning everyone.
Happy Birthday, cookie! I hope your day is fantastic!
rebo, that all sounds super stressful. I really hope your son comes out of this with his assets protected. Lola is a cutie pie!
shoe, that sounds like a lot. You really do need to take care of yourself, because no one else will do it better.
It must have been the night of no sleep for many. I had a very restless night and ended up going back to bed at 4:30. I slept until 7:00 or so.
The only place I used instacart for is Costco, and I too, have been frustrated these last months with the deliveries because I never get everything I order because the shopper claims it’s not there. I have decided that even though it’s a PITA, I just need to start going there on my own.
FCM, I hope it rains on Monday for you too. I don’t know if I could deal with all that without getting a little snappy.
Happy birthday to cookie I hope you have a wonderful day.
Thus endth my first week of retirement. I took my 2010 Camry in for brakes (metal on metal) and got a Highlander with 1100 miles as a loaner. Sweet! But it’s too long for my garage. Plus it starts at $45K so I think I’ll just keep my Camry. Anywho, when filling out the rental papers, the guy asked for my employer. I said I’M RETIRED.
Hey Y’all. Sorry I’ve been AWOL. What with Vinnie;s departure and moving it’s been a busy time. Thanks for the condolences. Vinnie was indeed a sweet, loving, funny and happy boy. We miss him terribly. We were worried about how Gibbs would handle Vinnie being gone, but he took it pretty well. I think he’s somewhat relieved that he doesn’t have to fret over his senile big brother any more.
We’re pretty much moved out of the big house in the valley. I don’t think we could get much more stiff into this little house, so we’d better be. I foresee us having a storage locker full of extra crap for a while though.
My late brother’s wife is here visiting us. I don’t know why Wifey invited her, really. Or maybe she invited herself. She’s kind of a self-centered PITA really, and a trumper, Not sure if she still is or not. She doesn’t say much political stiff around me. We figure she can’t be all bad though. She was a good wife to my brother and raised a couple of pretty great daughters. Maybe we’re just a tad too critical.
Anyway, she and Wifey have driven back to the old homestead to visit with the ‘Sketchy Artists’, Wifey’s group of artist friends who have a weekly meet-up at the cultural center on Fridays. I stayed home to look after Gibbs.
A young neighbor couple in the valley, who approached us about buying our old house last year when we had our first ‘moving sale’, did a walk-through of the house on Toosday and didn’t run screaming from the house. In fact they loved it. (We loved it too, but weren’t financially, or physically, able to give it the care it needed/needs.) Her father is a general contractor and knows what he’s doing, so we think they’ll be fine. We gave them a detailed disclosure list of everything we knew was needed in the house. We were going to have some ‘flippers’ we know look at it and maybe make us offers, but we might just go with ‘the kids’. I dunno. We could prolly get more money from the flippers, but it’s only money. The kids want to put it back the way it should be, although my one ‘flipper’ friend, L, would do the same, if her husband didn’t kill her for taking on another house after she promised him she’d quit.
We’ll see.
Shoe, stay off those ambulance rides. They aren’t that much fun, and bloody expensive!
Lola is a cutie, Rebo. Hope your son makes his escape relatively unscathed. He should have a secret bank account to put some cash into for the inevitable bloodbath.
Happy Birthday, Cookie!
I tried to display a pic of Gibbs, but it isn’t working for me today.
99%+ of the time, it works quite smoothly. It’s just that 1%…
Happy Friday the 13th and happy birthday Cookie!
Got free chocolate in the mail - the gardening firm we used last year is changing their company name, so they sent out fancy chocolate bars. I will take it to work as it is milk chocolate with hazelnuts. Funnily enough, since my office is close to the chocolate place, it’s almost going back to where it was „born“.
shoe take the time off. Want you to stay healthy.
Rebo Lola‘s so sweet!
Finished the rhubarb with ginger liqueur. Interesting, but not buying again. Too much ginger, not enough rhubarb.
Speaking of which, I have a hankering for rhubarb crumble. Guess I‘m going to have to make it myself. Something to do next week.
