Could be worse, living in Colorado we haven’t gotten shit for snow this year. The so-called experts are stating we are in the beginnings of a drought that is similar to the one of the 1930s (I think that’s right.)
Anyhow, you can stay home, curl up in a blanket, hang out on SDMB and stay off the roads…while we on the Colorado front range are dealing with serious fire warnings.
If you can, pray to the snow gods to send the shit our way, we need it desparately!

Having suffered last week through the “Oh no! It’s a half inch of snow in DC! Whatever will we do???” syndrome, I feel for you. Good luck, and be careful. I know how Southerners get when it snows…damn people can’t rememebr how to drive!!!

I got a foot and a half at my house today. And the weatherman tells me I have 3-4 feet coming in tonite! Personally, I love it! I’m going snowboarding tomorrow! Hope you have some good hills on the East Coast!

Just checking back in from Raleigh. Right around a half foot now, and still falling pretty hard. I’m relatively new to Raleigh, and I had asked someone around here how much it usually snows each winter. “It doesn’t really snow any, to speak of,” was the reply.

yeah Cabbage, I am in Greensboro and we maybe have had an inch of snow in the last five years - now we are on our forth snowstorm in 10 days! The schools were in for one half day last week, looks like they will be out all this week as we are supposed to get more tommorow. Oh, and bye the way I too lived in Denver for four years and no, southerners are not equiped to deal with this. The accidents mount. No people you cannot go 55 in three inches of snow, SUV or not !!

As a Northerner living in the South, I’m just sittin’ back and laughing. School closes when the first flake doesn’t melt, people drive like a cricket sneeking into a bat cave, and snowmen SUCK!
Three balls, people! I’m seeing snowmen with four, five, six balls. He can hold a broom, but NOT a dust-mop, people. Frosty is a perfect example. Round with head, abdomen, thorax, old top hat, scarf… Get a clue.

Over a foot now, and still coming down. They’re saying we could get 20 inches or more! Don’t guess I’ll be going anywhere for a while. Who’s got the beer?
Well I’m about 45 minutes to the south of ya Satan…and I’ve got 14 inches right now at 6 in the morning with another 8-10 supposed to fall. Plus the wind is gusting up to 56 miles an hour. They called this a nor’easter. But don’t worry. It’s supposed to be gone by noon heading up the East Coast. This whole week is a mess now. And yet…the state is closed down pretty much. Airport and all. DOT trucks can’t see the roads to clean them and the snow is coming down so hard…it’s covering them right back up.

In Vienna, VA right now the snow is coming down so heavily it looks like a thick fog.
The wind is gusting.
Only one car has passed my house since I woke up at 4:30, and I have yet to see any hint of a snowplow.
I’m not going in to work today.

I really try to be good but it just isn’t in my nature!
Had 8 or 9 inches in my yard (MD, SE of DC) at 6am; damned if a plow didn’t just come along my road. Still, the way it’s snowing and blowing out there, I’m in no hurry to drive. OPM says all us bureaucrats can stay home if we want, so I think I’ll burn a day of annual leave and do so.
When Satan looks out his window and sees the above, there’s no point in even bothering with the jokes. They’re all too obvious, doggonit!
