A Halloweenie MMP

I think the main street of our town does something similar, Bumba. At least they have in years past.

Man, I just don’t have any get up and go today. This is not a good thing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HOCKEY MONKEY!

Ow. They were giving free flu shots for us employees, so I went and got one. I barely felt it, but now my arm is aching a bit. It’s better than the flu, though. Ow.

Happy Birthday, Hockey Monkey!!!

It was very windy and brisk today. My yard needs leaf mulching and vacuuming, but it’s too windy. Maybe tomorrow. We shall see.

**FCD **is futzing in the garage - starting to make the countertops for the apartment. I’m not doing anything. Well, posting, but that’s about it. Daughter will be late due to training. SIL has school, but he’ll be home within the hour.

Just another day in paradise.

And now, my one and only Halloween joke, which I know I’ve told on the boards but too bad, I’m going to tell it anyway.

What do you get when you goose a ghost?

A handful of sheet

That is all. Ice cream is a legitimate supper, isn’t it??

Howdy Y’all! Dindin is all done, except for the cornbread which will be in about fifteen minutes. Ol’ y’all know who should be here about the time it’s done.

The high today was 56 freakin’ degrees Amurrkin! I hate it! Oh and it will probably get down to freezin’ out here in the burbs tonight. BRRRRRR!!! I agree with Shelli. It’s dang cold!

Work was, well, work… tomorrow is more videos and listenin’ in on calls. WOO and HOO!

Ok, I need to get back in the kitchen so’s I don’t burn the cornbread.

I foresee hottub time tonight, so y’all might not hear anymore from me tonight.

Happy Birthday Hockey Monkey!

Ugh… this day just hasn’t improved. We’ve got a deadline and are waaaaaaaaay behind. It looks like it’s going to be a long night. And I really wanted to go to yoga tonight. Not gonna happen. :frowning:

Wow, a MMP without a dozen pages already? It’s short enough that I’m not feeling intimidated by joining (why, yes, I am a coward.)

Admittedly, I’m still a young’un, but…

My parents aren’t really into Halloween. Never have been either. But in Junior High & High School I’d go over to a friend’s house who’s parents were. We generally did matching costumes - we were Team Rocket one time (I was James. Yes, I had vaguely blue hair), and the Titanic and iceberg another (cardboard costumes. I was the Titanic. The costume was painful the end of the night).

Best part of Halloween was always afterwards, trading candy with her, her siblings, and various friends. I was one of the few people who liked Special Darks, so I got a lot of those.

These days I have easy costumes - between garb for Ren / Pirate Faire and the kimono, I have options. I wore my new tsukesage (semi-formal) kimono with books on it for the Halloween party last week. It reminded me, yet again, of my complete lack of muscle. In kimono, I generally don’t slouch. It’s trickier to do anyway, what with the giant bow in the back. But about two hours in my back was starting to BURN. Ouch. But I was gorgeous.

My Dad was, yet again, embarassing. His ‘costume’ consisted of a collection of really bad puns (steel plates on his butt for ‘buns of steel’, things like that.) And of course, he was proud of himself for it. sigh

Feel all blerg. Maybe some hockey and beer will cheer me up. I like cold weather.

Hi everybody, from your newest (temporary) correspondent in Eastern Europe

Halloween? Wazzat…!?

Seriously, I think I ToT’ed once in my life, when I was about 7 and we were living in the US for a year.
I don’t remember anything, so apparently my costume had no wardrobe malfunctions, nobody picked on me, and I scored enough candy to be reasonably happy with the results…

Happy Birthday Hockey Monkey!!!

Hey, how come I never manage to get myslef invited to those kinds of parties? :frowning:

This is known as “My get-up-and-go got up and went” syndrome.

Sucks :frowning:

Hi Flutter! Long time no see!!

Happy Birthday, Hockey Monkey!!!
In other news - when some co workers went out for a non breathing break, they came back reporting having seen snow flurries
I Do Not Approve!

OK…I thought I’d read everything last night, but I think I missed the part where we’d made it to page 2, because I know I didn’t read that it was Hockey Monkey’s birthday.

Happy Birthday, HM!!!

Oooops, taxi. Maybe next year with the Candygrams…? Sorry you have to stay late. I brought work home because I couldn’t stand the thought of staying any longer. So I’ll probably be up late editing stuff.

How’s Eastern Europe, SO? Do you get to do anything but work?

It’s been colder here, too. It was in the 30s this morning, but since I get to wear my cool new fall coat, I don’t mind that much. On the other hand, I still have a bunch of gardening to do, so I want it to stay tolerable out. At least it’s supposed to be pretty nice on Friday, so the kids should be able to have fun. And there’s no rain predicted for the weekend, so I might get a bit of gardening done.

So much fun to hear everyone’s Halloween experiences. We went up and down a couple of blocks on our street. I think we sometimes went with some of the neighbor kids. But I don’t really remember much of it very clearly.

Which reminds me…I’ve been re-living the past a lot lately, what with finding my old classmate mentioned in our book club book and then hearing my brother recount tales of his 8th-grade class reunion. There were parents who showed up, even. And some teachers, too, including my 2nd grade teacher, who was also a parent and was one of my favorite teachers ever. It was funny to hear my brother talk about people I hadn’t thought about in 35 years. Some of the people are ones we saw last year at his high school reunion (I was the designated babysitter, but was happy to go because I liked his class better than mine), but some of them went to different high schools, so they hadn’t been seen in ages. We went to a small Catholic school, so these are all people we’ve known since at least kindergarten.

I know I missed a bunch, so I’ll refer any I missed to rosie’s sig.

Off to get some work done and watch a movie…

GT

 Ok, so there is one plus to cold weather. The hottub.

Just thought I’d share. Gonna go jump back in now.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Snow? You saw snow???

Snow?

Snow!!!

I’m so jealous and excited at the same time!
ETA: scootch over Swampy, I’m coming on in. Cold weather hot tubbing is wonderful…mmmmm

I want snow. :frowning:

Firstly, a

BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOCKEY MONKEY!

sorry I’m so late in saying it too, so hope today was great for you.

I’ve been down and out a bit with an infected tooth. The infection was so bad that my face swelled up and I had to go to the ER. I’m on a really strong antibiotic now and will have to get the tooth pulled (am a dental avoider, unfortunately :(). And oh yes, it has been quite painful too–at the ER they gave me morphine for the pain, which made me really loopy and sick to my stomach. I’ve got a script for percoset but don’t know if I’ll take it–I remember dry heaves from the last time. :frowning:
I am doing some better today, though, thank you.

Just got back from seeing The Wizard of Oz. It was a good production, but man, I really don’t like that play. At least the company was good. And the food too.

When we got out of the theatre it was snowing quite a bit. And I wasn’t wearing a coat. But I was afraid to run to the car because I was wearing higher heeled shoes than normal and I didn’t want to land on my rear.

I’m kinda bummed right now. I want to go see TVMan, but I’ve got to pay bills before heading out. I’m thinking about staying up tonight to pay them so that I can leave earlier tomorrow. So, to clarify… I’m bummed because I want to see TVMan now, but I have to wait until tomorrow. Also I am bummed because I have to pay bills. And, I have no work tomorrow. [/pouting]

Halloween memories, let’s think. We’re in mid-Michigan, so it’s not unusual to have snow for Halloween. We dress kids accordingly.

My first daughter wanted to be a witch. We bought a hat, and dressed her in her dad’s black t-shirt, with a coat underneath. At one house, we were complemented on what a fine, strapping son we had. My daughter was five years old.

My younger daughter was shy. Dress up? Fine by her. Pics by Grandparents? Fine. Out the door? Fine. Actually walk up to a neighbor’s door? Whoa. I stood by her; I said “trick-or-treat”; after the neighbor put the treat into her dragging-the-ground bag, I said “thanks!”

An aside: the shy daughter is now Angelboy’s mom. She’s full of how to raise a kid, & not afraid to get into anyone’s face if she feels Angelboy’s being slighted.

I work 10/31, & I’ve a costume in mind. If I wear it, I’ll try to upload pics for you all.

Love, Phil

Belated happies, Puck!

Does anyone want my snow? It’s far too early for that kind of caper over here and the weatherman says we’re going to have even more of the fluffy white stuff today. Trouble is, as a nation we’re totally unprepared for all that kind of thing, first sign of snow and the roads grind to a halt.

It is deceptively sunny out there, I know it’s just a ruse…

Happy slightly belated birthday, Hockey Monkey!

Hi Nooner, what part of Poland are you in?

I saw some snowflakes yesterday, but they were the tiiiiiiny kind that you know they’re snowflakes because they’re barely big enough to tell they’re white while they still float down. There was very little of it and it melted as soon as it hit anything.

I’m microbummed because I was sort of looking forward to seeing a pantomime: it’s one of those cultural things that those they have it take for granted and tell you “it cain’t be explaint!” but which most of the world actually don’t have. But since we’ll be working in Spain since mid-november until Christmas, I’ll miss the season.

I ordered the phone and DSL (no cable available here yet, it’s still relatively rare in Europe) transferred to the new place as soon as I’d confirmed that I was getting it. Been more than a month and I still don’t have it. I’ve already asked whether they intend to charge me for the time I don’t have service or what.

No snow here but much work.
