A Halloweenie MMP

Medical or Mobile, depending on who’s naming it.

Seems redundant - Medical Intensive Care Unit. As if the regular ICU treats patients with herbs?

Whew! It’s been a crazy two days. As I’ve said before, I really wish we could level out the highs and lows here. Sometimes it’s insanely boring and then we get weeks like this where we’re here late and struggling to meet deadlines. Ugh.

I do have remote access, too, but for this deadline-driven stuff, it’s very back-and-forth with a different department so we all really have to be on-site to talk to each other. And to concentrate better 'cause at home I’d probably have the tv on.

It’s about 50 out today, and we all think it feels great! Lots of “What a beautiful day! I wish I were outside instead of stuck at work!” kinds of comments. I guess it’s all a matter of perspective!

I brought a little of the baklava I made over the weekend in to work, and it’s getting rave reviews. I really am happy with how it came out.

I think I may try to make some cupcakes tonight and then decorate some to take to book study at church tomorrow night and some to bring here to work on Friday. Maybe that’ll make up for not dressing up. As someone else said “Boo humbug!”

Silly! We’re posting on an Internet forum specifically devoted to the mundane and pointless! The MMP is even more mundane in that it is absolutely unnecessary to post anything relating to the OP. That’s just our takeoff point for hijacking! We read as many posts as we have time for. You are welcome to join in at any time cause we’re nice, dammit! Just ask fcm!

I think a lot of us post just because people are eavesdropping on us! :stuck_out_tongue: Nah - it’s because people care about the mundane minutia of our lives.

So tell us about you, Tyge!

Ugh. The new guy just burned popcorn in the microwave. The stench has taken over the entire wing.

ETA: how much more mundane and pointless does it get than that??

I saw three snowflakes today.

I am beyond pleased.

Carry on.

It’ll be Medical. I presume the real-life alternative is Surgical.

Nava we ask for the person’s ten digit telephone number, name (to verify who we’re talkin’ to) and either passcode or last four digits of SSN. That’s called verify. It’s the same for every call. Hope that makes sense. It sounds like BT could do with some sort of protocol for verifying the caller.

Howdy Y’all! I voted today after work. I needed to run up to da Burg because the little grocery store is having a sale on BlueBell ice cream. Since we all know what an important food item ice cream is, I had to go! Since I was there, I decided I’d go by and vote. Took about twenty minutes. Not bad. Then, I decided that I needed a burger from Hardee’s for dindin so I went to Hardee’s. Then I bought ice cream and came home. So, I did my civic duty, had dindin and I have ice cream!!!

I want ice cream.

you’re both off your bird - It isn’t even November yet!

What pugs said.

not at all - there have been weeks I’ve only posted once - but you betcha I’ve readalmostevery post.

see above. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey everybody, including the n00bz!

Well, delivery courier job was a complete bust–they wanted to pay $160/day for a 300 mile route with an undefined number of stops, with none of that paid as tax free mileage reimbursement, no commmercial insurance buy-in, nothing. I politely laughed in their faces–fucking amateurs!

So today I went in to apply for a meatgrinder call center–Sprint/Nextel, barf. I almost turned around and left but I’m glad I didn’t. When I finally interviewed (after all the testing and other bullshit) they asked me “so, why aren’t you applying for a supervisor position?” to which I replied that if I’d seen an ad for that I damned well would’ve! So they’ve bumped my app up to corporate to see about getting me a sup spot, and as an added bonus I noticed that a girl I used to work with at a GM call center is their assistant general manager! W00t! Something tells me I might have a shot at this… I also QA’d their sample calls–I mean, really, a TWELVE MINUTE CALL that should have run 3 minutes, max, crap empathy, no relationship building, I would’ve scored my agents a near fail on all three of the calls I listened to! I told the guy I interviewed with that and he laughed…

So yeah, I might be back in a call center. All I have to say is a polite “yuck.” However, beggars/choosers and at least the commute is dead easy–it’s six miles heading away from traffic.

rosie, dear, we’ve already had the first snow of the year here, right on time in mid-October. And I wish it would come back!

You can put me on the “I can’t wait for the damn election to be over” list. I know it’s important yadda yadda yadda…but the campaign has gone for waaaaaaay too long. I guess a bit of moderation is too much to ask for?

Took my baby out for Bad Chinese. My sweetie wasn’t feeling well, so he just stayed at home on the couch in front of the TV. After we ate, we ran to the dollar store to look for a Halloween craft for 2nd graders. There was no Halloween stuff to be seen, but there was tons of Christmas stuff.

So we came home and I did a quick google and found this for her - easy and fun for kids.

**FCD **is going to bed early - he isn’t feeling well. Earlier today, I thought I was getting the ick, but I’m feeling a bit better.

Regarding the elections - just think - a week from today, they’ll start campaigning for 2012!

stg - welcome. Be random. Be one with us.

I have yet to met any (reasonable) people on SD that aren’t nice. I can’t help being shy.

If you insist.

I have an official boyfriend. Admittedly we’ve been seeing each other for months now, but it’s still awesome to me because he’s my first. (I found out yesterday that my mom was my dad’s first girlfriend, which seems unwise to me. And possibly explains some things about their marriage. But they’ve more or less made it work, so…). Anyway Jay* is sweet, geeky, and smart. And he sings and writes. And his two-year-old daughter is a sweetheart (with allowances for normal 2yo things like getting really tired.) I’m ‘Da-da’s friend.’

*not his real name. I don’t use real names online.

He was supposed to have to work overtime all this week (because of the damn election - so many people registered that they pulled his department in to do data entry. Jay works for housing or whatever it’s called.) Apparently they ran out of money, so we get to see each other tonight. We’re just going to hang out at my place while I theoretically clean and stuff.

I’ll be getting my third belt in taijitsu (yellow with black stripe, so technically it’s part of yellow belt, but, um, it’s easier to explain as the third belt). I don’t think I’ll make it to the graduation because I’m supposed to still be at work when it’s happening. I pretty much never am, but I can’t get over there in time anyway.

My job is actually picking up. We might be getting a fairly large order for our new product (scrolling LED badges) on Friday. Some guy is trying to sell them to the Obama campaign. I don’t remember what state. The boss has been really excited for awhile now because we have about 200 outside reps trying to sell them, but now it’s turning into actual orders.

I still don’t really want to work here anymore. There’s no challenge and it’s not brainless enough that I can let my mind drift. I’m going to look for scholarships and internships for next semester and quit here. I’m not looking forward to training the new person because it seems like we only get people who don’t know how to use a computer, but I’ve made things super easy, so maybe it won’t be too bad. In any case, I won’t be here any more, so it won’t matter.

Well, I get to leave in 15 minutes, so I’m going to finish reading the Dope and go home.

Arghhhhh. Brother should be here any minute now. More work to do at home tonight. What should I have for dinner?

Back tomorrow in better mood, I hope.

Hugs…

GT

SilverCat - are these flashing/scrolling badges available for not-for-profit groups?

I’ve PMed you what info I’ve got. =^.^=

I responded

Yuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm!!!

I just went out for sushi with my aunt. And while I’m weirdly picky about a lot of food, boy, that was some good stuff! I even liked the shrimp sashimi, which shocked the heck out of me; the texture was a bit weird, but yumyumyum! I’m pretty much a beginner at sushi, but I can see becoming a non-beginner far more quickly than I could possibly afford.

Apparently when it comes to sushi if I let myself go I am a far more adventurous eater than I realized. And there’s so many more kinds for me to try. I hated getting full because I wanted to keep eating.

Yum!

Moooooom, it’s a good thing I’m a) in a good mood and b) about 2300 miles away from you when you say things like that, because I know where you live!

Cool. My best friend just asked me to be her bridesmaid! I’ve never been in a wedding before. And the last time I went to a wedding I was six…

Plus I have been designated as keeping the people planning the stagette in hand. We aren’t party people, our idea of a good time is a drunken Wii party… clubs are out for sure. I was thinking find a nice pub and have a few drinks, go out for a niceish dinner (nicer than we usually do but not prohibitively expensive). I don’t know what the others think but I know BF is more in line with my sort of plans. Maybe I can rope her oldest friend into helping too, since she’s the maid of honor.

Oh, and the wedding is in January.

I’ve never done this before! Eeep!
