VBob, people suck sometimes. I think Maddy has gone through enough already without her situation being misrepresented. Please keep us posted on what these jerkwads do, if anything.
bobbio , those people suck. The plight of Maddy and her ilk is heartbreaking enough without having to make up BS to hammer on people that try to help.
Poor Maddy, she’s had a rough deal all rough. Get 'em sorted, Vundernuts!
I hope that pie’s still warm, Swampus - my paper’s writ and my poor brain’s all fried now. I’m about to convince 'im indoors that we need to go out for beerverages tonight.
That’s all.
I’m finally caught up, but I can’t remember too much of what I read.
I’m sorry they’re talkin’ trash about you and Maddy, Bobbio. Mean people suck!
You go get 'em, Bobbio! That’s ridiculous to blame you for her mistreatment when it’s so obvious you got her that way. Heck, if that were the case, we’d be up for abuse of our poor neurotic Rusty (the one closer to me in yesterday’s couch pic), who’s got massive thunderstorm fear and separation anxiety and any other kind of anxiety you can think of, and who’s truly a mess. He’s about 1000% better than he was when we got him, but there’s some behaviors/problems you simply cannot get rid of completely in a formerly abused animal. Heck, Isaac, our lab, is still scared of brooms and shovels, after living with us for nearly 6 years and never, ever having been hit with one during the time we’ve had him – but obviously someone did some nasty stuff to him once upon a time!
Thanks for the nice words about my picture. To be honest, it must be the drugs; I’m just so relaxed in that photo that I really didn’t care about much of anything. Can’t you see me kind of wavering there, all drugged and happy?
I finished the third chunk of my beautiful alpaca wrap this morning, so one more and then it’s assembly time. Yay! It will be SO nice as an all-purpose wrap/shawl/throw/whatever when I get it done. Although that’s still at least a couple weeks away; it’s a lot of knitting on little teensy needles.
As regards my knee today, apparently now that the swelling has gone down, my natural flexibility is reasserting itself. I’m actually starting to walk with a fairly normal gait – able to straighten my leg all the way out and then bend it while weight-bearing through the step. So I am seriously happy, as you can imagine! I can also now bend it to 90°, and sit down without support on a regular chair with it bending to that angle, pain-free. I’m hoping to be graduated to a cane next Tuesday when I see the doctor again, and at this rate I’ll be in great shape for the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans next month. Yeeeeeehah! Laissez les bon temps roulez! Etc.
Nekkid pressure washing, Swampy? Is nothing safe with you around?
Congrats on finishing your paper, BooFae!
And we can definitely itch together, Kai – I’m mostly trying to forget it’s going on so I don’t gouge my kneecap off, but it’s definitely a challenge!
Bobbio I googled and found what was sad. GRRRRR… That would make me not want to fool with those folks. Ya know what, though? Those that know you know the truth about Maddie and know she had a great home with y’all.
Pressure washin’, nekkid or otherwise did not occur today. I ended up with some Benadryl[sup]TM[/sup] and a nap instead. My sinuses still hurt but not to bad. I hate days when I feel like this. Course it’s not near as bad as what BioTigs and kai are dealin’ with and I’m not facin’ stuff like Ellen is. It kinda helps to put things in perspective.
I found a recipe that uses yellow cake mix and German chocolate cake mix to make bars. Since I happen to have both on hand, I do believe I might try it out just cause. What? I read cookbooks. I like readin’ cookbooks. I own tons o’ cookbooks even.
Have I ever mentioned that I’m gay?
Oh, I forgot to mention, Ellen, during the course of my life I’ve had several abnormal Paps here and there. They all have amounted to absolutely nothing. Remember, a Pap is a preliminary screening tool; it’s not necessarily all that accurate, it just narrows things down a bit so they can look for the genuine problems. I’ve long ago stopped worrying about less-than-perfect results on preliminary screenings; the odds are still hugely in my favor. In fact, one reason I got several abnormal Paps has now been deemed to be normal, so they obviously don’t even necessarily know where the cutoffs should be on what’s normal and what’s not!
I had breakfast at the Hick’ry Pit (Smoked Spareribs - Breakfast - BBQ - Pie). Piping hot buttermilk pancakes, yum! Then I went to Barnes & Noble and got a couple of books. How could I resist If I Were An Evil Overlord? Then I picked up my bag o’prescriptions and came home. What a busy morning!
I kinda suspected, but because of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell bugaboo…
MamaTigs, all I can offer about parrots is to be sure it isn’t pinin’ for the fjords. Beyond that, I got nothing.
Good thoughts coming your way, Ellen, but I’m sure it’s nothing. No, I’m not a doctor, but I was cut open by one, for whatever that’s worth.
Yes, I came home early. I’m going to set up some sawhorses in the guest room and slap some white paint on the trim molding. Then I’m thinking I might start some laundry. Because what else does one do when one comes home from work early??
**
TGIF** and all that…
Oh, dear, bobbio … why people have to do things like that is just a complete mystery to me. I’m glad you’ve got the courage, energy and the writing skill to combat it!
Thanks again for the kind words, mama tigs, taxi, FCM and everyone. I’m concentrating on not being worried and having a husband who is doing everything in his power to demonstrate how much he loves and cares goes a long way in helping getting through it. I’m sure all will be fine. Mostly.
On a happy note – today it’s nearly 70 degrees here! That makes it all the more fun that we’ve been spending the last couple of weeks doing Getting the Boat Ready for Summer things. All kids now have brand-new, fabulous life vests. A fun raft to pull has been purchased (though I am BOUND AND DETERMINED I will water ski this summer). My dear husband bought a small shelter/tent for those times when our little one needs a break and we can take a nap and picnic on the shore. It’s so marvelous to plan and dream of the fun we’ll have this summer! The older kids (12 and 9) are very excited about learning to water ski and have been doing situps every morning to get in shape. As have I! Me, the slug is getting up and exercising. Who knew??
Trim is painted, as is my left butt cheek - that is the left butt cheek of my sweat pants. I don’t do nekkid trim painting, so get your minds out of swampy’s gutter!
I’ve got a load of sheets in the washer and in a few minutes, I’ll feed the critters. **FCD ** is on his way home, and the peasants rejoiced!! In a couple of hours, I can decide if the trim needs another coat of paint. If so, I’ll take care of it tonight so we can install the stuff tomorrow. If not, I may play with clay later. I think I’ve figured out how I can save the piece I killed on Weds, then I can commence with the decorating and get one step closer to a kiln load.
Oh, and Bobbio, this whole dog thing doth stink mightily. I hope you can get the record set straight before you inflict bodily harm on someone.
Well, speaking of dog things, I need to get my thing dogs fed. The food can is empty, so I need to haul in the new bag and dump it. A FairyChatMom’s work is never done…
I just tossed some clothes in the washer, ironed the shirt I’m wearing tonight, made the kitties happy by feeding them early, and shaved.
I bet you all wish you led exciting lives like mine, huh?
And I sit here with a mental image of **MBG ** shaving his kitties. Yeah, I know, make your dirty jokes now. But I was envisioning bald felines and **MBG ** covered in scratches and shaving cream…
I read it as “feeding them shaved.” Shaved what? Shaved orange peel? Or maybe he just likes to be beardless when feeding his cats.
Oh, lookee - it’s the Punctuation Police…
:dubious:
At least I wasn’t nekkid, shaving kitties. That’s swampy’s way, not mine…
Honestly, does this dog look abused to you?
In other news, Loki is home lighter by 2, and I’m lighter by $300…
So you admit you shaved the kitties? Just not nekkid.
Loki’s balls got shaved today…
cookies that involve german choc and yellow cake mix?
And NO recipe?
Thirty lashes with a wet noodle to you!
We want recipes, please!
Off to work in am. Plumber here today–I am now $800 poorer. Poo.
Went for a lovely walk with Scottish Darling to the lake. It’s such a warm day, although now it’s threatening rain. We are to bake chocolate gingerbread and then head off to get drunk at a friend’s place. TGIF indeed.
