VB, I don’t blame you for being upset at that posting. I realize that sometimes rescues rely on the sympathy factor to get placements but that was taking it a bit far. I hope they change the wording of that.
It took all day (well, three hours) for the Charter guy to hook up the cable - he was nice but I think he was kind of new. It really shouldn’t have taken that long to switch everything over. I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t get online for the Snakes game tonight.
I’m debating if I want to go to the store for adult beverages for the game tonight…
I have never shaved a cat while nekkid. Or shaved a cat nekkid either, for that matter. There the record is now clear on this. I’ve never painted my buttcheeks either.
Nice punk drost there BooFae.
I got taken out for Eyetalian eats tonight. Ain’t that special. Course that means I have to be “special” myself a little later on.
Safe to assume the plumbing problems involved poo?
There’s been some sort of video game developers conference going on next door, and I tell you what, them’s some funny looking people! Amost entirely young (under 30 or so) males, with wacky hair, even stranger facial hair, and oddball fashion sense. I’m willing to bet at least a busload of them still live with Mom.
Ow. It’s been a kind of a bad week. My friend’s mom died Wednesday, so I had to go to the funeral today. I also wrecked my back doing the truck today. {{{{beer}}}}.
wampy, I haven’t shaved a cat, but after Lucretia assaulted Maggie in front of company, I might.
Good vibes. Ellen.
bobbio, I’d send a letter, too.
BooFae, Love ya bakc, man!!!1one!
rigs, My parents had to pay $1700 to replace the plumbing in the yard.
hooray, boo, hugs, drugs,(Hi, pugs!) to everyone else.
No loads of laundry, no clay stuff, but I’m done anyway. I’m going to bed early; Papa Tigs has decided I need to get out and about a bit tomorrow. So I guess I should get a good night’s rest. (I do have to admit, though, that it will be nice to see something other than either the four walls of this house or various doctors’ offices!)
I hope that you DON’T HAVE A HEADACHE IN THE MORNING, BOOFAE!
No, no poo. Just a new hot water heater and a new shower drain. This last was put in by a differrent plumber, backwards, apparently. He put the gasket on the wrong end. Jeebus.
The “poo” in question was for my poor checking account…tis a pathetic thing, undernourished, with rickety knees and pale skin.
I am home and very glad that this long, tiring week is over. Fair warning - I intend to spend the entire weekend in Slugsville, except possibly for sorting out my tax papers for my accountant. Other than that, I ain’t even getting out of my pj’s until Monday! So there.
I may or may not pop in over the weekend.
Who’s on tap for Monday?
Bobbio, I checked out via googlefoo the FBRN; hope that they’ll at least tone down their words on Maddie - it’s not right to make you all sound like abusers.
EllenCherry (forgive me, I’m in quick reply, no color available!), thinking good thoughts for you (& crossing fingers as well)!!
Swampy, do share the cookies-out-of-cake-mixes recipe with us, please. And I do hope you get a nice “reward” later.
MamaBionicTigs, your puppies are CUTE! I had DVT (deep venous thrombosis) back in 2000 and was on coumadin (warfarin) for 6 months. I’m on baby aspirin now, fortunately. Oh yeah, Therapy Kitty is cute too, and good luck with your new PT.
Anyone been testing out Easter candy yet? I heard that Cadbury is making mini creme eggs this year, but haven’t seen any yet! I’ve already had some peeps (LOL must make sure they’re fresh) as well as some caramel eggs. What are -your- favorites?
You inspired me to go get some Brach’s Spiced Jelly Bird Eggs. Tasty! Everything else was chocolate. Meh. Oh, and Peeps, of course, but I have to be in the mood for those. Mmm, licorice.
Headache? What headache? Sorry to disappoint you, BioTigs, but my head’s survived remarkably well. Most people would say that’s because there’s nothing in there to damage!
Paper is writ, letters to penpals are writ, cats are fed and happy, bins have been emptied, cups of tea have been made. All that and it’s only Saturday - I love bonus days off.
Today is going to be busy too. I need to go to the main post office to collect a renewal pack for my passport, take books back to the library, go to the bookstore, get more lightbulbs, toiletry stuff, concert tix and whatever else is on my list that I can’t remember.
The complication today is football. Our local team (Wolverhampton Wanderers) have a home game against the Baggies (West Bromwich Albion) which has a 12 o’clock kick-off. Sadly the Baggies fans have an appalling reputation for violent behaviour when they play local teams so we plan to be in the house until the match starts (did I mention we live about 10 mins walk from the footie ground?) then dash into town and aim to be back here before they leave the ground again? That gives us a maximum of three hours…
The big problem is that the majority of the Baggies crowd will be coming in by coach or by train. The coach park is across the main road from the back of the foootie ground so that’s no so much of a bother but the rest of the fans who are travelling by train have to be escorted by more police that you’ve ever seen in one place, and the favoured route will take them right through the back end of town where we catch our bus home. The police do their best to keep the fans out of the town centre because last time they tried taking them through that way, the clean-up afterwards was very expensive - there was a trail of broken shop windows almost the length of the main street.
The pubs along the route all have security staff on the doors and most of them will only allow “home” fans in but the more determined troublemakers will find a way in. I know of at least one pub that’s usually packed with home fans, they’ve taken the decision to sacrifice the day’s takings and close the pub until the evening. In fact one or two of them have already boarded up their windows in preparation for the assault.
It’s really sad when things like that happen, but we’re going to do our best to keep out of the way.
BooFae --that’s just messed up, that is. Why do nice, well mannered English people turn into louts for a game? My mind boggles. Heck, I think the fans here that paint their faces and don’t wear shirts for American football games are obnoxious–we pale in comparison to wanton vandalism like that.
Good luck with the shopping. Hope the Wolvies win (or would that lead to more destruction from the visitiing fans?).
Mornin’ Y’all! Paper read and caffiene being ingested. Tonight people are comin’ over for dinner. I suppose that means I have to feed ‘em. Le sigh. I kid, I’m grillin’ boneless pork thingys and makin’ baked beans and mac & cheese cause I want some m&c. I’ve got some bbq bread and a friend is bringin’ a layered salad. YUM! I loves me some layered salad. I’ll dig out the recipe for the bar thingys. I didn’t use the one with two cake mixes. I used one for German chocolate mix and a frosting of cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar. 'Tis good! We sampled last night. Can’t serve the guests sump’n untried now can we?
Yay on you for gettin’ your paper writ BooFae. You may have pie now.
Good morning, all! I’m up and caffeinating and cleaning up. Then it’s off to garden at church, lunch, maybe more clean-up, and then off to work.
I can relate to the sports-induced scheduling, BooFae. I don’t live too far from the Ohio State University campus. In the fall, we always have to know when the home games are, but that’s mostly because of the traffic. We have our share of rowdy fans. And some of them specialize in post-game vandalism. Fortunately, they’re the minority and the vandalism doesn’t happen near me, but still…
Sorry to read about the obvious misrepresentations of Maddy’s life, Bobbio. Guess they don’t understand that it’ll come back to bite them if their tactics get out.
I’m about to caffeinate, nibble a bit then off to the gym. Later, before she goes to work, the Kid and I are off to Chipotle - my gym has a deal this month, where if I show my gym pass any Saturday or Sunday I get a free meal. Then, run around doing errands a bit, come here, clean up, pack, sleep EARLY because at about 4 am, we have to get up and head to O’Hare to start flying to Tucson.
Gah! The Wife is way way too chatty this morning. I must make some distance until I get some coffee and exercise in me…
