A Hammers and Chisels and Knees: Oh My! MMP (With Bonus Kitty Goodness!)

I hear ya MBG. I’m not real fond of first thing in the mornin’ diarrhea of the mouth myself.

Burgers for lunch today. It’s a grillin’ kinda day at da cave. In a bit Ima grill the pork thingys for tonight’s dinner. See, I like to get em started on the grill, not all the way done and then let 'em slow cook for a few hours. They’ll be tender and juicy. YUM! Burgers and jalapeno poppers sounds like a fine lunch, does it not?

Busy busy already. We did sleep in some, and I actually slept thru the night - YAY! First order of biznuss, after shower and dressing, of course, was to finish loading the trailer with branches and such for a trek to the dump. We got rid of most of the old cedar that was in front of the house (one more to go) and we dumped the red carpet from the bedroom and some stray sheetrock and tack strips. Then we had breakfast at Bob’s, followed by a visit to Lowe’s for curtain rods, heater vents, and nails. Now **FCD ** is doing something in the basement involving air lines so he can use his pneumatic brad nailer for putting up the trim - he’ll run the hose out the basement window and into the bedroom window, and the trimming will begin.

Other chores today include replacing all the plugs and the wall switch in that room, installing the ceiling fan, putting up the curtain rods and roman shades, and a little paint touch-up on all the trim. Plus we’ve got to pull up the staples that held down the old carpet pad, so the new carpet pad has a clear floor for install.

Off to work. Laterz!!

Dang FCM y’all make those folks on Trading Spaces look like a bunch of slackers.

Ok, all the grillin’ is done. Pork thingys are simmerin’ away in the crock pot. Burgers are done and shortly we shall feast. That means I need to cook up the jalapeno poppers which I shall do. Oh, and I’ve had a couple bloody Mary’s so I’m kinda buzzed. WHEEEEEE!!! There will be no nekkid jalapeno popper fryin’ however so get yer minds out of the gutter for once. Geeze what a bunch of pervs! :stuck_out_tongue:

This is not a proper obligatory late night drunken posting! It should look like “oblgatroy laet night postong saying how muuch I love you all !!!1111!!!eleventyone!!!”

Speaking of late night drunkenness, a bunch of us got together yesterday, watched Spinal Tap, and got mildly drunk and started singing Hedwig and the Angry Inch songs at the top of our lungs. The neighbors must have loved us.

Am cooking chicken noodle soup with rice (oh yeah~) this morning. I swear I’m going to finish writing my paper today.

Crown molding is up and caulked. Outside door casing is done and caulked. We’re taking a break before putting down the base molding and the inside closet casing. Then I’ll do all the touch-up painting.

The new drapes are in the washer for a quick rinse, then I’ll have to iron them, install the curtain rods, and hang the curtains.

Oh, and pics will follow, even before the carpet is installed.

Well, she did say you should probably post for her, Hank. How’s that paper coming, by the way?

I get tired just reading about what you’ve been up to, FCM! May I have an energy infusion? I’m running kinda low.

Managed to work in the garden at church for more than an hour. It was still sprinkling a bit when we started working, but it cleared up so that we could do more than just pick up trash. Yay!

Now I need to do some cleaning and then it’s off to work for a while. Highly exciting weekend Chez GT.

Back later…

So I’ve remembered that I [del]was chosen[/del] volunteered to do the next MMP. I don’t know what it’s going to be about just yet. But rest assured it’ll be a doozy. Just wanted to reassure you all that your MMP needs will not go unfulfilled - not on my watch. salutes smartly

FCM, your daughter is moving back home sometime in the near future, right? Is that the reason for all the renovation?

Yay! So it’ll be a Monday Morning Pun then.

I’ve written the introduction to it and already I’m tired. Nine more pages to go. The upside is that the introduction usually takes the most time to write, so hopefully I’ll whiz through the rest of the paper at a quicker pace.

But first, I need to eat some ramen.

Yes and no. If you saw the photos of this house when we bought it, there was lots that needed to get done to drag the place kicking and screaming out of the 70s.

There was just one closet in the master bedroom, so we took the guest room closet since it shared the same wall. That meant we needed to add a closet to the guest room, which we’ve done. So that’s the project we’re finishing now. I should be able to post pics next week.

Next, we do the master bedroom and bathroom, getting rid of the mirrored tiles and replacing just about everything in the bath, plus paint and new window treatments. Finally, we’ll redo the blue bathroom, and the house will be complete.

At that point (probably early fall) we’ll start the room addition, which is being done because of the return of the child (and her husband) We’re going to build ourselves a new master suite, including a sitting room, a screen room, and a humongo walk in closet. That little project has to be done by next May, when the invaders move in.

So, like I said, yes and no.

Base molding is down. Curtains are awaiting ironing. Blue paint has been touched up. **FCD ** quit because his knees are bothering him, so I washed off the cars, and now I’m quitting, too. Critters will need to be fed soon, and I’ll probably do some more laundry tonight. Tomorrow, we’ll finish the room. Next week, the mirrored tiles start to come down. Yay.

A master suite with a sitting room? Oh my, then you must have a fainting couch!

No fainting couch, thanks. We’ll have our love seat recliner, I think. Which means we’ll have to come up with some other seating for the family room. Too soon to think about that…

So much for being productive. The weather was so nice that I ended up taking a walk across campus and enjoying a cup of coffee on a park bench. Ah well.

I suppose I should fill my stomach with food before heading out for drinks with the usual suspects. Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday evening!

Dishes washed. One load of clothes washed. Soup thawed and consumed. Day is done.

But I want ice cream…

I got a response to my meltdown letter to FRBN. The responder is the lady we set up the surrender with. Named changed to protect the guilty…

Bobbio that was a nice response. At least she acknowledged that she knows what was written is wrong. Maybe they’ll do something about it. It’s nice to know that she was outraged herself about it. Hope that’s some consolation for ya.

Ok, company has come and gone. Yeah, I know it’s eight thirty on Saturday night but they came over at five and left at eight. Dishwasher is loaded and whishin’ away. That’s the sound my dishwasher makes. Whish Personally I’m glad the sucker’s quiet. Ok, now Ima change all the clocks and then it’s lie in the bed and watch tv, etc.

Glad to see a good response, Bobbio. Hopefully the description will change soon.

What, no fainting couch? I’m kinda disappointed.

Back from work. Got something substantial done, which was good. Still gotta go in tomorrow to work on some other stuff (I also have some system stuff to test; we have one data center moving and a major upgrade at another data center and I need to do initial checks that stuff is working correctly).

Went to Kohl’s earlier and bought a bunch of stuff. I had a 30% off coupon, so I figured it was a good opportunity to get a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. Bought some new earrings (one of my obsessions), socks, skivvies (where’s QD been lately?), sweatpants, nice black work pants, a food chopper, and a stockpot. I’m probably forgetting something, too.

Guess I should get to bed, since it’s gonna be an hour later in the morning.

Happy Saturday evening, everyone!

Hi

as planned, I spent the day sleeping (except for a few hours midday, because the cat was insisting on being fed - so I got up took care of her and watched Somewhere In Time while I ate the leftovers from last night’s trip to Boulder Creek)
I had a weird dream about being robbed by someone who looked an awful lot like Christopher Plummer (he was in the movie)

I had to get up to take my meds so I figured I’d see how everyone’s day went. After my knees go bionic (and I’m all healed and stuff) I shall have more productive weekends, too. But nothing on FCM’s scale!

gt - I don’t think you could ever match my obsession with earrings - I have close to 300 pair at this point.

Back to bed to TV surf for a while.

You win!!!

GT

Rosie - that is one of my favorite movies! I refuse to count the number of pairs of earrings I own. I have a cork bulletin board in my dressing room full of push-pins where I hang the french hook ones - and two jewelry boxes of post-type. I have lots of turquoise, and if I buy a shirt and don’t have anything to match it - I just go make a pair!

The Snakes won tonight! We beat the team that clobbered us 8-2 last night 3-2 tonight! We’re still in first!

Mr. SCL’s birthday party went very well - we took a ride on the jetski and ate chicken, chicken fried venison, veggies and lots of ice cream cake. Some old friends of his were there and it was a great time. We would have gone for an after-dark pontoon boat ride but he has to work in the morning and will already be losing an hour of sleep due to the time change.

Hope everyone has as good a weekend as mine is so far!
