Back to "normality" in the MMP?

Insomnia is, as Beck would say, a bad bad bad thing. It is, however, frequent enough for me to qualify as “normality”.

Also, DH is finally returning to work, nearly 6 months after a broken leg. Modified duty, yes. Basically, his employer is donating him to a local non-profit that has work for him to do that will meet his medical restrictions, but said employer will be paying him normal wages for doing this work. I think he’s feeling better about returning to getting out and being productive, even if he’s a little nervous about the new situation and how his leg will take the activity. His appetite has picked up and as of last night, he’s at his highest post-accident weight yet.

Me? Probably taking a mental health day today to get a day of solitude. Even in the car, I still have to deal with other drivers. For the last six months, the maximum time I’ve had to myself without having anyone else around needing me to interact is lunch breaks taken in a parked car, still in the parking lot of Hades Annex. I think I really need to hermit for a day, especially as bad as HA is getting. It’s getting harder to get ANY of the resources (sups, working software, other departments, etc.) we need in order to handle anything that is not 100% routine, and the hit on call metrics has manglement down our throats a lot. Some of the calmest people there are getting seriously cranky or upset, and I’ve never been Ms. Zen.

Keeping our surgical patients of the week in mind, and hoping everyone else’s week starts well.

OK, gang, time to hijack away.

First! That hasn’t happened in quite a while. I hate going in early on Monday, but it’s needed.

Happy Moonday!

The exciting news of the day is that it is an ABOVE FREEZING 36 degrees outside!
It was also light enough to leave for the park at 6:30, if I had been ready to go.
The days are getting longer!
It’s supposed to get up to 63 today, so some yard irk will be happening.

Good luck to Mr Nettie and enjoy your MHD Nettie.

Good luck to** Beck[/B

I’m debating wearing toe warmers.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 with maybe rain this afternoon and tonight. TWPTB are willy-nilly about this. However, it looks like Tuesday through Thorsday shall be rainy. ICK. The big plan of the day is to spiff da cave. I think we shall go do the early geezer thing at the [del]hog trough[/del] Golden Corral, thus makin’ it a late N.O.L./early sup. Either that or sammiches for sup as we have nuttin’ planned to cook. We are havin’ a fish fry this Firday over to the church house. I have volunteered to make coleslaw as well as pretty much be there all day Firday to prep stuff and to assist in the actual cookage of said fish.

Nettie hope all goes well for DH on his first day. You enjoy a day of gettin’ your mental healthy.

Becks, even though you probably won’t see this, appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for the kidneyectomy and for a speedy recovery.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! RAH.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Greetings, fellow Mumpers! Before I sat down to breakfast, I loaded the evening’s dishes in the dishwasher and cleaned the sinks, put some eggs on to boil, made FCD’s breakfast, set the boiled eggs to cool, fed the critters, and then made my own breakfast! SIL is off today because daughter and I both have class tonight - she in engineering, me in ASL! So that means I won’t be wrangling Roxy all day.

I do need to push the vacuum cleaner around, and I’m thinking it’s time to sort out the growing piles of stuff on my night stand and dresser. Things tend to accumulate…

**sari **- I hate to burst your bubble, but next Sunday, we turn the clocks ahead, leaving you in the dark of the morning again. Sorry. :frowning: But the evening light is nice.

Onward! Happy Moanday!!

Morning all. 52F heading for the mid 60’s today, but rain has visited and more is coming. Need to do some banking but outside of that nothing much planned for today.

Nettie, sounds like a mental health day is not a bad idea. You’ve adapted by necessity to a ‘new’ normality of DH being home and now things are shifting again. That plus irk being very irksome gives you all the reason to get a day to take a deep breath and get ready for the change. Best to you and DH.

Need to make up the weekly schedule and menu this morning. Then on to sorting and stowing photographs and nailing stuff to the wall.

All y’all have a good week, especially Becks, Gotti, and any other sickies.

I immediately had a mental image of you with a hammer, a handful of 16d nails, and assorted socks on the wall…

Normal & the MMP??? Well, this will be a boring week; may as well close the thread now. :o

It was 36 when I left for the park, 52 on the way home.
I’ll probably open the windows for a bit today.
Beautiful sunshiny day, I would have stayed longer if I didn’t have to irk.
We were there over 2 hours though, so the dogs got a good romp and chase, along with some wrestling and tugging.

Have to keep an eye on my gate, Echo got out yesterday. I need a new front gate, so I guess I’ll have to call somebody soon to come out. It is on the agenda for this year, going to happen sooner than I expected.
I really need a whole new fence, but I’m not ready for that expense yet.

Next week is the time switch already?

Found some pics for my niece. I got through about half of my collection, I’ll do the other half today. So many pictures that I pick up and say, Who are these people?

So today I’ll be looking through photos, and getting in a little yard irk. I have to drive my son to school, and he has some proofreading for me to do.
He is way ahead in his History of Jazz class, once he has that done he can concentrate on the other three. He has one quiz left, the final, and three short papers. He’s holding off writing the papers until the first one gets graded. No sense in writing all of them until you have an idea of what the professor is looking for.
Spring break is coming up, he plans on getting ahead in the classes he can over the break.
Then maybe he won’t be so stressed, because his stress is making me feel stressed.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled.

Enjoy the metal* health hermit day, Nettie.

{{{gotti}}}} {{{{Beck}}}} and all our other [del]sickos[/del]sickies.

An advance warning. I effing HATE DST. Give my CST year round. My migraine from Saturday is finally gone with the help of Prednisone. I think it was caused by sinus inflammation which is still there but toned down. Seeing my PCP tomorrow and hope he gives me a big ass script for P. Yesterday was nice, in the upper 40s. Went to the barn, looked at Ariel sunning herself, hung around, talked politics, went home. Washed a few windows (inside only, I don’t do outside). Ursala KitCat has been sunning herself in the beams every day. Made reservations for vacation accommodations in York and London. Those are in England, BTDubs.

HOWDY, First of the month on a Moanday…Should be illegal. I have a to-do list as that is the only way I can keep up. I just had a plate of leftover sketties.

Back at it.

I made shrimp & grits for the first time yesterday. (Thread in Cafe Society.) I mentioned there that I may have had grits once in my life, at the airport in New Orleans in the early-'90s. I wasn’t impressed. Mrs. L.A. and I went to dinner last month, and I tasted her shrimp & grits. They were good! So never having made them before, and not even knowing what they’re supposed to taste like, I set about cooking shrimp & grits for the first time. Mrs. L.A. liked them. (I liked them to. But not exactly low-carb. :frowning: )

You can add shrimp or cheese, but not sugar. >>shudder<<

Breakfast with cheese or butter. Mmmmmm.
I have some ladies over to the house today who are helping me unpack. Yes, 4 months after my boxes came. :smack:
Tomorrow 'Beamette starts her first day back to school. One class to start, then she’ll work her way up as her head allows. TBIs are serious things folks.

Well, the grits have cheese in them; so Mrs. L.A. can have them that way for breakfast. (Sounds like she’s getting toast, though.) The shrimp sauce is in a separate container.

Our cable & internet has been a bit wonky - but it all seems to be back to normal (she says, hoping not to jinx it…) The household is quiet. I need to think about what to make for supper, since I’ll have to eat early and head to class. Always something.

Mrs. L.A. did have toast… and grits.

She gave Goo some grits, and she liked them too.

Banking is complete and lunch at Jersey Mike’s has been consumed, so the major activities for the day are done. Took out a broken piece of furniture (Wal-mart special) to clear some space in the garage and it was gone by the time I got back.

FCM, I put a lot of pictures up using those ‘stickies’ they sell, but found out they rip off the paint when I removed them, so it’s hammer and nails for all. Just trying to decide what goes where.

Sunny, happy unpacking.

wet one, I could live without DST, but most of my clocks switch automatically so it doesn’t really bother me much.

Last I checked, it’s 67° here! But since it’s overcast and there’s a little breeze, it feels cooler. Still, pleasant.

Dinner decision made. Dishes washed. I leave for class in about 2 hours. Yay!!
