Back to "normality" in the MMP?

Mrs. L.A. just got a voicemail that one of her patients has died on the 21st. :frowning:

She said she didn’t really need foot care, but her husband doted on her and insisted. She just called him back, and he was very grateful for her services.

Howdy Y’all! We spiffed da cave and then went for the geezer special at the [del]hog trough[/del] Golden Corral. Nice to be able to do that if’n we want. Ah, retired life!

Ugh! I remembered I have a Vestry retreat thingy on Sattidy. It’s at the local Hospice (the retreat is not about Hospice, just bein’ held in a meetin’ room there for some reason). The Snicker’s Marathon is on Sattidy as well, so I must needs to figure a route that does not involve the marathon/half marathon route. I think I figured it out but 'twill take me thirty minutes to get there as opposed to fifteen. Oh well. By the time the retreat thingy is over I will be able to take the shorter route back to da cave. Stoopid day to have the thingy, but I do understand the need to work around the facilitator’s schedule and this worked best for him.

MOOOOOOM have fun at the ASL class! I know a little bit of ASL but am nowhere near proficient.

Flyboy shrimpies 'n grits is da bomb! Also, flytrap what’s wrong with both cheese and butter on grits? :stuck_out_tongue:

Have fun [del]storming the castle[/del] learning ASL Moooommm

I guess I’m still no true Southerner as I do not eat grits (somebody get swampy’s fainting couch positioned).

Made it to 58F today but no sun to be seen and rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Nappage lasted over 2 hours, so I call it sleepage. In other words, not very much accomplished.

All y’all take care.

Oh, fuck me to tears; it’s
SPRING CLEANING WEEK!

And to add to the fun, we’ll be pulling out the refrigerator and the stove to clean behind/underneath. This is all in anticipation of our trip in a couple of months to do the Habitat thing in NM. We do heavy cleaning twice a year, but not usually with the heavy metal moving. :frowning:

Mooooom, cool on the ASL classes. How long will you be taking them?

sari, I inherited many, many old pics from both sides of the family. My paternal grandfather was decent about documenting in pencil on the back names and events. However, I likely will never find out who some of the folks in the pictures on Mom’s side are. There are so many, even going through Google picture search is pretty time consuming and the generation before me is dying off.

Johnny, shrimp and grits are da bomb! I do that for a quick meal sometimes when there is unexpected company. I always have grits and cheese on hand and usually a bag of shrimp in the freezer.

FoM is beginning to suck almost as bad as EoM did. Someone has messed with my templates for monthly reports and I had to go through them line by line (still one to go) just to do my usual irk. Tonight, I’ll wrap up a project in the studio and set up to prep the craft for the heathen children.

Didn’t get much done today, I was sleepy and went to bed.
It was a cloudy 63 when I took my son to school, a rainy 52 an hour and a half later when we came home.

I made it through the rest of the pictures, and while I didn’t find any more of the HFH, I did find a few of my nieces’ father that I am going to send to her.
I also realize I am missing a bunch of photos.

Red, I have a cousin who puts a lot of the family photos out on FB, in a closed group. Usually there is somebody somewhere who can identify who the people are. My mother’s side is HUGE, my father’s side are recent immigrants, even I can pretty much identify everybody.

I pull out my fridge and stove to clean under them 5-6 times a year, but only because of the damn mice. I’d pull out the dishwasher too, but I’m afraid I’ll get it out and not be able to get it back.
I’m just noticing that I haven’t seen or heard any mice for at least a few weeks now. Probably just jinxed myself.

Crap crap crap. I signed up for this class in October. It NEVER occurred to me that there is a book. I could have gotten a used one. Instead, tomorrow, I need to go and shell out $165 for a new one. Dammit.

I think I’ll enjoy the class, tho, despite one woman. It’s been my experience that if there’s a particularly annoying person in a group, she’s the one wearing way too much jewelry. Maybe it’s confirmational bias, but I don’t think so…

Still pissed about the book, tho. :stuck_out_tongue:

The nail goes in your foot, at least according to Shel.

That seems like a satisfying marathon. Mebbe I’ll do it some year. Once again, I did not get a lottery selection for NYC. :frowning:

Even a northern boy like me eats grits sometimes.
I have [del]tens[/del] hundreds of thousands of pics; luckily not many have people, or at least identifiable people in them.

Grits are like fried okra, I like them okay and I’ll eat them, but I won’t go out of my way to get them.

I made an omelet for dinner tonight.
I had told my doctor about chicken making my mouth itch and she told me to go to the Amish market and get some free range antibiotic free chicken. I didn’t do that, but I bought Purdue chicken instead of the store brand and my mouth didn’t itch. I had leftover chicken with pepper and onions from last night so I put that in the omelet.
It was okay, but I think I would have liked it better without cheese.
The dogs got a nice helping after I picked out all the onions.

No, you had it right the first time.

I’m not sick, I’m just wired wrong. An EP is really a biological electrician.

As usual, I’m a day late and a dollar short. I have nothing exciting to report. It rained today, but then, it rains most days. Spring flowers are starting to bloom. I walked to the grocery store. Plenty of bottled water there, so people aren’t panicking.

I have to say, I’m impressed by how much you people get done before breakfast. It takes me 15 minutes just to recognize I’m alive and a a life form.

WetOne, I hear you about DST. I hate, hate, hate it. It’s hard on parents, as little ones don’t want to go to sleep when the sun is still up. It’s hard on kids. When I taught, the first week after DST kicked in, the kids were lethargic and miserable. It costs the US money, It doesn’t save fuel (the original impetus), and it puts us out of synch with most other nations. Let’s start a movement!

Nettie, hope your mental health day left you relaxed and refreshed.

I looove grits. One of the best things to come out of the South. (At least, I think gritscame from the South.)

Moooom, textbook prices are beyond ridiculous. I used to order textbooks for my department. I once asked a sales rep why they’re so darned expensive. She said textbooks don’t sell as many copies as other kinds of books, so the companies have to charge more. I don’t believe it. They all sent huge, glossy displays with supplementary books plus a copy of the textbook. Nobody would go to that expense unless there was gold in them thar hills.

I can’t pull out any of my appliances by myself, so they only get cleaned when maintenance comes. I don’t have mice, though, so maybe that excuses my sloth. checks conscience Nope, it doesn’t. I do flip my mattress every 6 months. Does that count?

Happy Toosday!

It’s a cloudy 43 degrees outside, anything above freezing is good.

Woke up early and went through a stack of photos that I had set aside.
Found a few more, how did I have the HFH hs graduation photo?
Anyway, that is done and I’ll run to UPS tomorrow and send them. I was going to mail them but UPS is probably better.
I’d go today but it’s easier to do things when the dogs are in daycare.

Getting ready to head out for the park.
I changed my irk schedule to start at 11 today instead of 10, so if I want I can stay longer.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted for this afternoon through Thursday. Today I shall accomplish laundry. A couple errands need doin’ as well. I should get myself in gear and get those done this mornin’. Or not. Or send OYKW. Sup shall be beast stew and cornbread. The beast stew is some I had in da freezer so just a matter of thaw and heat. The cornbread I shall make. Maybe baby cornbread muffins.

Spidey apparently folks come from all over for the Snicker’s Marathon. 'Tis a big todo here.

gotti AIR, your thingy is tomorrow, right? Hope all goes well!

I’m hopin’ we hear sump’n from or about Becks soon.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I had some intense and disturbing dreams, but as soon as I opened my eyes, I forgot them, apart from the feeling of being ill at ease. So weird…Today is for shopping - groceries and that stupid book for my class.

I think the reason I didn’t consider a book is that it’s a Continuing Education, no-credit course, so why would it need a book? :smack: That, plus I graduated in 1979, so I’m not exactly in the college frame of mind. I’ll call the bookstore to make sure they have it - I thought I overheard a couple of my classmates saying how it was only in the LaPlata campus bookstore, which is a 45 minute drive, dammit. We shall see…

I’ll be grocerying to lay in keto supplies - I’ve found several recipes that sound really good, but I don’t keep heavy cream or cream cheese on hand. Plus several use spinach, and I know I don’t have any. This program is a major paradigm shift for me, but for FCD’s sake, I’m going to try to make it work for us. I know his back will do much better if he sheds a few pounds, but for whatever reason, he can’t seem to wrap his head around eating plans. He’s constantly asking me what he can eat. This seems to be his main stupid spot. Oh well.

Happy Tuesday!

Afternoon all. I’m going to the big Growed Up university than my weeny college is attached to today, to hopefully arrange going and playing with some shiny fun lab stuff, uhh I mean doing some terribly important project work. It’s actually  N.O.S, and we’ve only had one hail storm so far today (I’ve been playing dodge the hail for weeks).

I’m taking the opportunity of doing some shopping while waiting for my meeting, as I’m rarely in a city, so it’s nice to have a bit more choice available. Especially ethnic foods, which are in short supply in mid Cornwall…
You know, the degree course I’m on didn’t have any required text books; there was one recommended book that was about £20 new, which is just a general useful reference book they said we’d likely look at after the course as well, that was it, and we were specifically told we didn’t need to buy it. The situation in the US with textbooks sounds insane…

And for bonus “fun” with textbooks, publishers seem to be unaware they do have students who are not in their late teens to early 20s and have perfect vision. The print can be horribly small. Add to that the requirement many have for online access for major chunks of content (this seems to be in large part to make used books less useful).

Cue my semi-annual “standard, daylight, split the difference, pick something else altogether, I don’t care, just pick something and STICK WITH IT!!!” rant.

nellie, I agree with you that it takes a little bit to get the brain booted up to something that passes for functional. Just wish more of my callers would DO that step before bugging me.

This particular text comes with a DVD - which makes sense for a signing class. I noticed many of the used ones for sale don’t have the disk. Is it a wonder they’re not selling??

**FCD **volunteered to drive to LaPlata if necessary. Since his computer won’t be returned till maybe next week, I think he’s bored. But that’s fine - I’ve got Roxy today and I can’t be driving her around all day.

They probably sell the DVDs without the book, for more than the book goes for. I tried to buy it, and it was way more than I wanted to pay.

Morning all. Starting to dry up after mostly raining yesterday. Going to 68F, so maybe the gas heater can take some time off.

Anybody hear from Red yet this morning? Weather got pretty nasty up in her area yesterday. Hope all is ok.

FCM, there is always a book. And yes, I was lucky to go to college in the 1970’s when things were cheaper, but books were still a ripoff then.

Heading out to vote here in a bit. I’m a Democrat in a hard Red state and my candidate won’t win anyway, but I will vote–that’s part of the deal we get with this country, it costs nothing, and it makes you feel like you’re doing something (albeit a very small something, but still…).

The last furniture for the grand house redo shows up between 3 and 6pm today. In between I will try to get some housework done, buy utilizing the drastic method of “MAKING A LIST”. We shall see.

Everybody be well.

Good morning, all.

I’ve been somewhat busy, this morning. Laundry. Also, cleaning the bathroom, including washing the throw rugs that are in there. I should do another load of rugs that live in the hallway, but, it’s just too wet/muddy to piss with it, today. Maybe after it dries up a bit, and the dogs won’t be tracking in mud on their big ol’ feet. Good grief.

My plans for today, include making some pizza sauce. We eat a LOT of keto pizzas around here.
FCM, you’ll do fine on keto. Just be sure to keep your fat intake JUST to where you’re not getting hungry very often. My husband, and I, have been doing keto for some months. I am diabetic, and having a hard time with it. Diabetes has nothing to do with it, though. I just eat WAY too much fat. My husband has lost 50 pounds, eating keto. So, I do know it works.

Have a good day, folks.
