Home from the park, it was just starting to rain as we were leaving.
It may have been in the 40s but it was cold. All of us were freezing and even one of the dogs was shivering.
I left my hat and gloves home, I could have used them as could one of my friends there. I always bring extra hats and gloves for anybody who forgot theirs.
I’m like a supply closet, hats, gloves, napkins, tissues, poop bags, and of course water.
The park supplies poop bags, but it’s nice to have one on you so you don’t have to walk to the dispenser first.
I took the turkey breast out of the freezer last night. I’ll make it tomorrow, that will feed me for more than a few days.
**nona **- my sister had dropped about 70# doing keto. Spousal unit is pre-diabetic, so I’m hoping it’ll help with that, too. I’m about to make my shopping list - it’s going to be interesting, methinks…
So far I’ve started a load of laundry and done some cleaning. I used to get up at 5 and get to work before 6:30, an hour early. I guess with retirement, early morning sloth has set in. It’s cloudy and chilly this morning. Mother Nature doesn’t like people celebrating spring too early, I guess.
Thinking about Beck. Hopefully she’s out of the OR and in recovery by now.
Rayita had four cute kittens on March 1st. So, I have been spreading the word. Get your order in, now. Kiko, the dog that raised the Rayita, wants to conduct interviews to the prospective owners.
Finally got the results of the thumb culture. I selected the five star killer antibiotic. Got a prescription and within 24 hours the thumb turned pink, and the pain is gone. The right antibiotic is the key. I wanna see the surgeon to see if he has a different plan. But, he doesn’t do appointments. You go in and wait your turn. The housekeeper is here and I need to help her. Will see him tomorrow.
I remember college books pre-internet. Very expensive. And the worst part was, if they weren’t gonna have that class next semester, they would buy it back for 25 cents!
For the record, I do not flip my mattress, and I do not move out the fridge or stove for cleaning.
**Moon Unit **I would love a kitten, but I can’t see bringing it all this way. Congrats on babies to play with. I hope your thumb continues to heal. Remember to take the antibiotics even after the symptoms improve. It could come roaring back.
I worked hard on the house yesterday. The ladies were here about 6 hours, which was about 2 hours longer than I had spoons for, but they made a big dent. There’s still a bunch to do, but they have demonstrated that it is possible. I’m hoping to have them here for another half day next week to do another swathe. In the meantime, they have left clear stacks with us to work on (unboxed all the books, for example - so far I’m giving away more books than keeping them).
I hope Beck is doing OK. Gotti best wishes for the procedure tomorrow.
I also would like to hear from Red. It sounds horrible. I’ve got another friend up that way, and I’ll worry about her too until I hear.
Back at last from erranding. We stopped at daughter’s school to see her and Roxy ate half her lunch! I managed to get a lot of good stuff for our new food plan, but the fridge is now jammed! After I put the rest of the groceries away, I’ll try to do a bit of a purge.
Meanwhile, I’m lunching - I’s stahvink!! Roxy didn’t get up till almost 10 and I just got her down to nap. I’ll get a short breather, then it’ll be time to figure out supper… always something!
The hospital finance people called today to confirm my insurance deets and to let me know that this is expected to blow through my deductible and smash right on through to my out of pocket max for the year. That’s pretty expensive for a thingy.
Yes, my RF ablation for atrial flutter and cryoablation for atrial fibrillation procedures are on for tomorrow.
I still want to know who figured out how to get from a person’s leg to inside their heart galloping along at 140 beats per minute to carefully apply little dollops of burn or frostbite and not harm the person in the process. Utterly fascinating concept.
**gotti **- medical advances, especially surgical, always amaze me. When my dad had his gallbladder removed, he ended up with a big scar on his right side. When mine was yanked some years later, I had 4 little incisions - the longest about 1", the others just dots.
As for the heart - it’s just magic, plain and simple! Hope your magic is flawless and successful!
gotti, tell the doc’s to take pictures so you can share them here (I got pictures from my colonoscopy, but I don’t think anyone wants me to share those…)
FCM, thanks for the news on Red.
moon unit, congrats on the kittens, I’m you (and Kiko) will find them good homes.
Voted and mailed my electric bill, then came home and made a list of things to get cleaned up. Did manage to get the spare bedroom ready, so if anyone drops by suddenly, I’ll be prepared.
Our Bermuda cruise has been canceled. We’ve been refunded 2 of the 3 charges for the trip - waiting for the big one. Then we put in for insurance. What a hassle…
I’m doing something with shrimp for supper - I found a recipe that sounds pretty good, and it includes veggies, so I don’t need to bother with sides. Yay!
Oo! Oo! I’ll bring a flashlight so we can hold it under our chins and tell spooky stories. Or is this not that kind of slumber party?
My apartment is clean, I got through the stack of papers on my desk, and the maintenance guy came to do a minor repair and replace my oven light.
Sunny, thanks for making me feel better about not moving big appliances. Why don’t them put them on casters that lock or sliders or tank treads? I’d move my fridge all the time if I could climb aboard and drive it.
Glad to hear Red is OK.
gotti, I hope your procedure goes well tomorrow.
**
Moon Unit**, glad the thumb is better.
Windy here in no. Illinois. Think gusts up to 30 mph. The condo is kinda creaking… I discovered today that my cheap HP printer was dead so I bought an even cheaper HP printer. I figure the new one will last less than a year. According to my PCP, my nasal passages are “juicy” so he’s putting me on a round of Prednisone.
If you got a remote for it, you could have your fridge bring you your beer/soda/juice instead of having to get up and get it yourself!
There’s an idea for an invention, a remote control keg on wheels.
I didn’t get much of anything done today, I feel asleep in my chair when I got off irk. Then I sat outside and tried to brush the dogs.
They didn’t want to be brushed, they wanted to run around the yard.
It was supposed to be cloudy all day but the sun came out, too nice of a day to be spent indoors.
I told my son that if it is nice tomorrow we are getting out the saw and doing some trimming before the trees and bushes have leaves. It’s a lot easier to see what you’re doing that way, and the dogs won’t be around to get in the way.
He has to go to school early tomorrow for a group meeting, so we won’t have a lot of time.
As long as we make some progress.
Howdy Y’all! I accomplished nuttin’ I said I would accomplish today, but accomplished other things instead, so I still accomplished. Go Me! OK, Go Us! Instead of doin’ laundry, a couple errands got accomplished, plus I went and filled the propane tanks for the grill and outdoor cooker. I have three tanks. Like TP, one should never run out of propane. Then we went and voted and decided to go to the sto’ to lay in provisions since tomorrow is supposed to be ick weather wise. The Pubic Sto’ had some nice tuna steaks on sale, so instead of beast stew we had grilled tuna steaks, broccoli, and wild (as opposed to domesticated?) rice for sup. So, tomorrow laundry shall be done and beast stew and cornbread will be supped upon. Might even make a peach cobbler cause we have good 'niller ice cream.
gotti I’m stickin’ with heart thingy and hope all goes well.
moon unit congrats on bein’ a grandma!
WetOne ugh Prednisone. I know it works and is good for what it does but still, UGH! Hope the sinuses are all better soonest.
Sari a keg on wheels. GENIUS! I imagine that doggio would call it the greatest invention ever!
Wait - I thought moon unit was a grandpa. Did I miss a memo?
The shrimpwas soooooooo good! When I make it again, I’ll use twice as much spinach, and I think I’ll add mushrooms.
Dishes are washing and I’m about to assume the crochet position. No reclining - I gave that seat up to FCD, because I’m nice, dammit. When we replace our furniture, we’ll have multiple recliners and maybe a love seat. We shall see.
I have forwarded your information to the Nobel Committee. I expect you’ll win the peace prize…& possibly a few other categories as well.
Looks kinda like shrimp Florentine. In fact, I’d leave out the 'matos, which really *does *make it shrimp Florentine.
As for me, I’m channeling my inner Beck & having (mini) corn dogs for dinner. Went to a art show tonight; J2 was in it (for a photo).
