Right. Tired. Someone encourage me to tidy everything and freeze all the baking instead of collapsing on the couch.
Also, why does the Dope log me out about every other time I change pages or forums or whatever? Something with my cookies? Doesn’t do that on any other webpage I visit.
Helped MommaVorlon sell the ancestral abode today. Mixed feelings, House was built in 1928, and was getting to be a maintaince bear. Spent a hour showing the new owners the houses trifeling ways, and warning aboout local speed traps.
Was brought up short, however, by what their monthy nut shall be—for the next 360 months, they get to shell out 10.2% of what we paid for the whole thing in 1969.
Hafta write final paper for the semester. Donjuanna. Juannasmack whomever invented PoliSci. I’ll let our “Letters” folk smack me at will, but it seriosuly sometimes seems as if any professional pursuit that falls under the headings of “Social Sciences” or “Literature” consists of a lot of people discussing their navel lint. Politics is important and can be interesting, but PoliSci is its navel lint sister. I just have problems applying the term science to work which seems to consist of referencing what other PoliSci people have written; the stuff we have to comment on starts backing away slowly whenever a piece of Real World Data walks into the room. These dudes make the folks who design polls sound realistic and logical.
Plus, people who come up with shite along the lines of “we can’t let them immigrants into the country! their Catholic laziness will destroy our Protestant work ethos!” makes me want to start hitting people with hardcopy printouts of the US Census since the year it started working, as part of the follow-up party to a same-sex wedding on their front lawn. Which they ought’a pay for.
Ok, Nava! Get your ass in gear! That paper won’t write itself! Don’t look at me like that - you’ll face will freeze like that you know! Now get busy, little missy!
Nava young lady, is that paper written yet? No? Well, get busy then! It’s not going to write itself you know! Now march in there and get that paper done, NOW! I said march and not a peep out of you until it’s done! The sooner you start the sooner you finish. Don’t stomp your foot at me! It won’t do any good. Now get in there and get that paper written!
Howzzat?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! It’s my Firday! YAY!!!
Gotta go feed rumbly tummy and purtify for work. Le Sigh! It’s also rainy and ick outside.
I coulda slept in. The critters were quiet, the bed was warm. But once I was awake, I couldn’t fall back to sleep. So the critters have been tended to and my sweetie is all snuggled under the covers while I sit here in a sweatsuit and slippers. Oh, and it’s raining out, so I got sprinkled upon when I took the dogs out.
I hate Bank of America. Since Countrywide went belly-up, BoA holds our mortgage. They’re real butts about paying on line. If you don’t have a checking or savings account with them, you can only schedule a one-time payment to them. Countrywide let us schedule a year in advance. Plus there’s a very narrow window when you can make an on-line payment without a fee, because, you know, it costs them so much to accept an electronic payment the second week of the month rather than the first 4 days. And they don’t update promptly. Assholes.
I thought I’d scheduled a payment for yesterday, but when I logged on today, it said no payment scheduled. OK, fine. I’ll pay the damned $3 fee to get it paid on Monday. Once that’s all set up, I see a link that says “Payment History” - one click and lo-and-behold, they did get my payment yesterday. So I went back to the schedule page and cancelled the one I’d just set up for Monday, and the “Payment History” link disappeared. I guess they just want us to double-pay every month??
I’m thinking of doing a refinance just to get my account elsewhere. Assholes.
Plans for today will include laundry. Maybe some afghan-finishing. Oh, and I have to sew up the Christmas curtains for daughter’s classroom. She’s still got her halloween ones up because she never bought Thanksgiving fabric. But sewing a pair of valences won’t take long at all. Beyond that - no plans.
Spaz, I have to admit that that’s a lovely hat, but I haven’t bought it yet because…ummmm…because…well, I can’t think of an excuse right now, but I’m sure one will come to me eventually.
Awake and all allergy-filled. Gotta go find some antihistamines.
Don’t get painted purple. There’s a mildly important football game today. So important I may actually watch it.
The Snowpocalypse is upon us. So glad I’m off work today. I do not want to have to deal with people freaking out about the cold white stuff. I’m gonna go out and get picamatures later on.
Ooooh, I haven’t seen the Lipizzaners in ages and ages and ages. Sorry you can’t go.
FCM, B of A has my mortgage as well. Won’t they set something up for you so that they’ll automatically deduct the mortgage every month? (You might have to call them for that.) Mine is set up like that. It was set up that way before they bought my mortgage, so I don’t know anything about how to set it up. The part I don’t like is that you can’t set up an additional payment online to go against the principal. I want to start doing that and will probably have to call them to figure out how…
Started making bourbon balls (provisionally added the recipe to the blog) and have put dough in fridge so that I can go run some errands, come back, make the cookies, make Pffeffernuesse for next week’s cookie party (recipe to be added to blog later; I love them) and then tackle cards.
I’m up and the coffee is brewing. I wanted to sleep a little longer because **Mr. Taters **was a snoring machine last night, plus his alarm started going off at 3:30 this morning. Anyway, the hubby wanted “wake-up” and play. So, we did.
I guess it’s better that I’m up, because I have tons o’ stuff to do today.
Tonight, we’re celebrating a friend’s birthday. Her birthday was actually this past Wednesday, but we’re celebrating today.
It’s frosty/rainy outside. At least it’s not snow. Here in the Pacific Northwest we don’t get that dry, fluffy stuff. Snow for us generally means icy roads.
Have done a bit more knitting (working on sock 2) and am contemplating next stuff to do. Came across a really cool site (Elise from Simply Recipes tweeted it…): The Pancake Project. Apparently this is my week to link to stuff.
ETA: Keep meaning to ask Dotty: What does the Dubai financial situation look like from your perspective? Michael Feldman has been kidding about Islamic accounting this morning on Whadda Ya Know and it occurred to me that I actually know someone who’s acquainted with the real stuff… So, what does this mean for Dubai, it’s neighbors, the world…?
It’s a beautiful sunny day and the snow is melting slowly. We had a hard freeze last night, but we got all the plants in the day before yesterday. I’m sitting in the “green” room!
Dipsey just came to visit for a while, wearing a festive little red sweater. He’s such a cutie!
I made a chorizo and potato hash for breakfast served with scrambled eggs and cheese, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. Mmm! Time for lunch now, I think.
Laundry is laundering and I’m still in my jammies. I love the weekend.
