Bobbio, why would it be bad to work at Wallops Island? I mean aside from the normal “why it’s bad to work for the government” reasons. It seems like working for NASA would be awesome.
Yeah, that alter looks like you could just slide it off to the side, Nava. I don’t understand what the problem is.
Spaz, I think I’m getting close to joining you in almost-panic-ville. I don’t know why. I don’t have anything to be stressed about, but I’m feeling like I’m going to start hyperventilating at any moment. I really wish I weren’t predisposed to worry/stress, that I could just relax and enjoy life like KT does. Things don’t bother him. I wanna be like that!
Well, I’m ex-NASA, and I left because they wanted me to be a manager when I wanted to be a techie worker bee. That, however was in a research lab, and the job I applied for is in an operational area.
Besides, Wallops Island is a very long haul from the VunderLair.
My day has been totally screwed up. GilaMonster went to buy groceries for her party using a corporate card for a business. The card was a Visa and Sam’s only takes Mastercard and Discover. Then she didn’t have enough cash so I’m not even sure what happened after that. I was supposed to start helping her around 10 this morning and I’m still waiting for her to finish grocery shopping.
I’m trying to wake up completely by drinking large amounts of coffee and then I’ll have to clean up because I have errands to run.
The heat in my daughter’s car doesn’t work. The blower is not putting anything out and kind of just clicks a couple of times and that’s it. So, now we have to get that squared away. Yesterday, she had frost on both the outside and inside of her windows and drove to her classes at UW that way. Not safe, not to mention coooooold.
Tomorrow, we’re celebrating a friend’s birthday. I had a photograph I took of a bird of paradise flower put on canvas for her. She just loves that picture and comments on it every time she sees it.
Monday is my son’s 17th birthday. Wow, where does the time go? He hasn’t let us know what he wants to do.
According to the site, you can handle lines or take the helm if you want to, or you can just chill. I expect **FCD **will want to get his hands on everything. I intend to chill.
Glad this week is over. I’m tired and fried, and I’ve got 2 deadlines between now and the 15th. But I can turn off my work brain this weekend and busy myself with funner stuff - like knitting. And laundry. And cleaning out the fridge. yay.
I’m thinking PapaJohn will be making supper. I really don’t feel like cooking. I also don’t feel like going out, so I’ll send SIL to fetch it. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Happy Firday, all!!!
Oh yeah - chance of snow here tomorrow, maybe. West of DC can get up to 4", but we might not see anything, since the Bay moderates our temps.
First off, feel better Puggy! Second, get out those “NO SNOW” signs! Looks like we gotta head 'em off at the pass this year.
{{{Dotty}}} prayers, thoughts, appropriate/inappropriate appendage crossin’ headed your way.
I, too, am awaiting pizza for dindin. It’s comin’ from Pizza Hut cause, well, I had a coupon and a willing body to go by and pick it up since it’s not too far from where willing body is.
BBBobbio if the church is Baroque it needs to raise some money!
Nava, you know the best church-related stories. My parents were married in a baroque chapel. The baroque part was considered a feature in those days…
Get lots better soon, Puggy!
Wow, you’ve had snow already and we’ve barely seen a few flakes. Well…we routinely see flakes; snowflakes, not so many.
I was able to escape work early. Yay!!!
Off to figure out what I do first. Need to make cookies, decorate a bit, do laundry, do some knitting, and more that I’m forgetting. I imagine I’ll start with the really urgent part: knitting. Also need to get some shopping done and cards put together and sent this weekend.
(OK, technically I got back on Wednesday evening, but I’ve spent the last couple of days catching up on work and waiting for my brain to return from vacation, since it apparently decided it wasn’t ready to come home yet)
I’ve only skimmed, so nothing more than this to offer at the moment. Will be back with real content later.
{{Dotty}} and lots of good thoughts headed your way.
That makes sense, bobbio. I’m with you on wanting to be a techie. I’m hoping my company will let me stay a worker bee. My manager puts in waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more hours than I do, and I don’t want any part of that!
Welcome back Muppet!
That trip sounds like fun, FCM! Hope it works out.
We’re getting snow here too, but we’re supposed to have snow here!
Pizza at our house tonight too, but take-n-bake kind. Good stuff.
I’m still feeling antsy/grumpy. But it’s time to go home and eat pizza so my mood is rapidly improving.
There’s snow forecast for tonight. Winter Weather will help.
Crowds.
So apparently Snowpoclaypse '09 is upon us in Hippy Hollow. All the tourists are either freaking out or clapping their hands with glee. The handclappers would be Floridians. The freaker-outers are North Kakalakeeans. As a resident, I’m more concerned about ice than snow. I have to (have to) be at work at 7 a.m. Sunday morning. There is a steep hill connecting my apartment complex’s parking lot and the road. Getting down that at 6:30 is going to be Super Happy Fun Times!
Fortunately I have tomorrow off so I can spend all day in bed (with a break to stroll downtown to see the Weather). I really need a do-nothing day as my little adventure yesterday proved. rosie’s sig to all but the punsters.
So, Muppet, does that mean that you’ll get us started out next week with tales from your lovely vacation? It’s cold here and something tropical sounds like a lovely possibility.
You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers on Sunday, Dotty.
Hmmm…I’ve barely looked at the Death Pool this year. Guess I’ll watch more closely next year and see if I’m more inspired then.
I’ve finished the headband part of a utilitarian hat that I’m knitting (it’s for gardening and such). I’m just weaving in ends before I pick up stitches for the crown. I already have a scarf and handwarmers in the same general pattern. Should be a quick project, though. After that come the hat and mittens that go with one of my winter coats, I think. Also the other sock.
