Oh goody. That bad mood I’ve been fighting all day is actually a panic attack precursor. I realized this just as I drove into the parking lot of the Grove Park Inn to see the gingerbread house display with the group I tutor with on Thurday afternoons. I had to turn around and go home so I didn’t freak out. It’s the first time I’ve ever missed without prior arrangement. Now I have to call the coordinator tomorrow and apologize which improves my temper/mood not one whit.
And I have to work tomorrow. What kind of bribe do I have to offer Squirrel AGM so he’ll schedule me two days off in a row? I hate being the only full-time person working days.
Prayers and good thoughts headed out to Sock Lady CutiePie. God does not think it’s weird when I ask Him to watch over someone known only to me as Sock Lady.
This weekend is cookie party! Y’all have no idea how much fun it is to decorate Christmas cookies in a half snockered state! Plus Sunday is Brunch Sunday and it has been decreed (one guess as to who “decreed”) that I shall make a ‘nanner puddin’. Well, “decreed” once it was noticed that I had a big ol’ bunch of ‘nanners and a box of vanilla wafers sittin’ side by side on the kitchen counter. I mean if it hadn’t been decreed that I shall make a ‘nanner puddin’ I don’t know what I would have done with all those 'nanners and that box of vanilla wafers! I guess they would have just sat there and rotted/turned to dust! I hadn’t even noticed that somehow, by some miracle, a bunch of ‘nanners and a box of vanilla wafers had just magically appeared on the kitchen counter! Thank Og I have somebody watchin’ out for me, right? Lucky me.
Call me crazy. I just applied for another job with NASA, this time at the Wallops Island facility. As if I didn’t learn my lesson the first time around…
If all goes well, we shall have a real vacation this summer. It will include this and this. And since we’ll be driving to Maine, we may stop and spend a day or two in Newport, RI. I am very excited!! All we need is good health and good weather.
Hell, I have a whole convent of Franciscan nuns who pray for my internet friends and I’ve never spoken but to three of the nuns.
Does knowing that you have a bunch of little Spanish old ladies praying for you make the panic go away a little, Spaz? These keep running bets on how long the couples taking them linen to be embroidered and/or wanting to have the wedding performed in the convent’s chapel will survive as couples post-wedding; occasionally there will be bets on how long before the wedding will they break up. The worst ones are those where the bride(zilla) and her mother are the ones showing up with the linen and they want special arrangements done on the chapel for the wedding; apparently there have been several who wanted
the baroque altarpiece moved. One explained it was because “with it there, the background of her pictures will be too busy.”
One of the oldest nuns later wanted to know why would someone choose a baroque chapel for the wedding if what they really want is “1960s naked warehouse.”
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up caffienated and brekkied. Gotta go purtify soon.
Nava they wanted part of the Altar to be removed? They wanted the whole Altar removed? Ummmm… I can just hear this now…
“That Altar will have to go! It clashes with my color scheme! I’m the bride!!! It’s all about me! If I want major renovations on the chapel for my forty-five minute ceremony it should just be done!!! I’m the bride!!!”
That altarpiece is this kind of beastie. And yeah, they wanted it moved to one side so that pictures taken from the aisle would not have the salomonic columns, half a dozen statues of saints and oil painting behind the bride. Because, as you know, it’s her day!
Speaking of her day, last 20th was the 11th anniversary of my brother’s wedding. It was a Friday, when normally SiL’s Mom (who is with them “to help with the Kidlette”) leaves to spend the weekend in her house, so Mom offered to go pick the Kidlet from school. SiL explained “oh, since it’s my anniversary, my mother’s staying until Saturday morning.” Before Mom could decide whether to sue for daughter-in-law divorce, my brother was heard on the background saying “hey! I did get married on the same day!”
Morning all! I’m so glad it’s this particular Friday - it’s the last day of small-group teaching today so that means the last day of herding cats for me. I have got both my reserve tutors in place to teach for the two guys who have got good excuses, so that’s worked out well. I spent all day yesterday and most of this morning copying the course exam paper and putting labels on the front and back covers because we have some fancy new tracking system for them. Today I am going out for lunch with a friend and then I have the joys of an interim performance review. Nothing nasty there, but it’s a hassle I could have done without today.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmms, wasn’t there going to be a job offer that would keep you and mr mmms together?
Get well wishes to the sickies, whoever they may be…and appropriate/inappropriate hugs and gropes to the rest of you.
It’s been a busy morning already. I had to take my mom to work because of car troubles. Then I picked up some parts for another car and dropped them off at the technician’s house. Now I’m at one of my favorite restaurants having breakfast. After that it’s off to help GilaMonster with a party that she’s catering tomorrow.
Somewhere in there I have to pick up more parts and deliver them, possibly pick up a written prescription at a doctor’s office and then pick up my mom from work. By the time that I make it to TVland I’ll probably just collapse.
I told Sock Lady what swampy said and she thought it was funny too.
