A Happy Memorial Day Or It's Just Another Moanday MMP

Peak temp here today 100F (38C).

Great-grandboss, who’d been mostly working remotely since COVID got going (she’s over 70, don’t know about health issues) is now in office, probably due to lack of grandboss. Sup spent part of today’s meeting bitching about that, as well as badmouthing HR guy (who I happen to like). She also announced she’s actively looking for another gig. They still don’t know who the hapless person is who’ll be stuck with training the newbies, either. That training class starts Monday.

Had to order new earbuds. JLab are remarkably durable, but even they can only survive so many accidental trips through the washer in a pants pocket. Discovered today I have very little sound in the right ear, so time for new ones. $15 a shot isn’t that bad, I guess (I do get the kind that are attached to each other to cut down on losing them).

Or guarantees you’ll always lose both at the same time :woman_shrugging:t3:

(laugh) Fair point.

Don’t ask me how I know.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So I found out one of my hockey friends from L.A. passed away last week. R.I.P. Jen. :frowning:

Oh no. I’m sorry to hear about your friend.

Up, caffeinated and sheveled. Off to heave.

Well, technically, he’ll be the new baby in November. At the moment, he’s the baby-under-construction…

I need to check the temp setting on the new water heater - my shower was barely above tepid. Of course, I don’t know what the old one was set at, but I do know FCD will want it hotter than it is. And, yes, I know to turn off the breaker before I remove the panel. Learned that lesson the hard/expensive way many years ago. :open_mouth:

I get Roxy again today, and when I deliver her back to her mom, I’ll be dropping off the lap robe and thank-you card to the wonderful woman who coordinated FCD’s most recent surgical adventure. She was able to break thru the receptionist wall and get to his neurosurgeon, so yay!! I’ll be seeing her in a few weeks for follow-up bloodwork, but I don’t want to wait that long to get it to her. Plus I’d rather just leave it and run. So that’s today’s biggie.

Not sure what else will happen - lately I just make it up as I go along.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost seven this mornin’! 'Tis 63 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and possibly somewhat N.O.S. for the day. The big items on today’s agenda are to lay in provisions and I shall go perform some church janitor Junior Warden duties over to the church house.

{{{Cookie}}} I can’t think of any words to say. Just know we hold you in our hearts.

shoe yay for a good interview! Appropriate/inappropriate appendages are crossed for ya.

{{{doggio}}} sorry about your hockey friend.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, bother of bothers, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the public attire. Pity me.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Mornin’ everyone!

Cookie, I am terribly sorry about your son.

It was HOT yesterday and me no likee. Nope, not at all. Today is supposed to be even warmer. I shall melt into a puddle of goo. My home office is upstairs so it’s even warmer up there. I was very uncomfortable yesterday. When I head upstairs, I shall snag the box fan from the bedroom to use in the office. I used it yesterday too, but by the last hour, it was merely blowing warm air around. The good news is that is supposed to start cooling down tomorrow.

I have 1.5 credit hours that I need to burn up. I may ask my boss if I can just use them up this afternoon. In actuality, if I felt like it, I could just close my laptop and take an hour or two to go walk, putz, or whatever and make it up. As long as I get my full hours in for the day, I can do that. The thing is, I just want to be done with my workday, so I slog through all the required hours so I don’t HAVE to open my laptop in the evening.

Doggio, I am very sorry about your friend.

I am overthinking my bird feeding station area. I was thinking last night that I should just finish the whole area in the 16 by 16 pavers instead of the three or four rows I have now and just do container gardening there. But, as I started adding up the cost of the additional pavers and all the containers, PLUS the plants, dirt, and leveling sand, I nixed that idea…for now. I like the idea of just having containers of various sizes with plants of different varieties and heights, but I think the cost would be pretty outrageous. I think I’ll just go with my original ideal and slowly work toward the idea I just described.

I came downstairs to discover my Polar has fir pitch stuck to the side of his face, which means I’ll probably have to bathe him. He’s not a fan of baths and I end up just as wet as him when I do bathe him.

Time for my second cup of coffee. I’m enjoying the cool moring air with the windows open at the moment. My husband shut all the downstairs windows when he went to bed and it was downright hot when I came down about an hour ago. I opened ALL the windows.

Morning all. Not at all awake, stayed up well past 11pm watching basketball and then woke up at 3am with a kidney demand. Never really got back to sleep fully, even if I stay in bed until after 7am, so nappage or an early turn-in is likely. Also forgot to haul the cheeseburger out of the freezer, but that is OK as I’ve just discovered Huntsville has a Whalburgers and I’ve never tried them so… Pills taken and paper rescued, so that much is done.

Doggio, sad news about your friend. My condolences.

Taters, do what you can on the bird feeder project and build toward your dream is my recommendation.

FCM, they may have set the heater to a mid-point, letting you determine how hot you want it. Hope you get the temp you want. And lovely touch with the card.

nellie, only getting to 78F today here. And most Ali-bama houses have overhead ceiling fans built-in (I have 4), which are nice. Stay cool. And glad the lump appears to be nothing.

OK, onward into the day. All y’all take care.

I have tread the mill and I adjusted the water heater thermostat. FCD left some time ago for a meeting. I’m waiting for the arrival of the toddler tornado.

taters - the best dog-cleaning situation I ever had, short of dropping them off at the groomers, was in the last house we had in FL. It had a bit walk-in shower - like 4’X5’. I just took the dog in there with me, shut the door, and we showered together. Then she’d shake off the excess water and I’d towel her off before turning her loose again. Then a quick rinse for me and the walls, and I was done. I miss that shower, and not just because of dog-washing…

Maybe I’ll crochet till the kid gets her.

I’m so sorry, cookie.

And doggio, I’m sorry for your loss.

Afternoon, mumpers! I’m just back home after a trip out to get my second jab, so another couple of weeks and I’ll be invincible, immortal, magnetic, have amazing 5G and never get lost again.

It is allegedly 79F out there today (27C) and definitely feels like it. I have windows open in the house but there’s roadworks going on outside so it’s been quite noisy. Fortunately they finish early in the afternoon so it’s peaceful again now, just in time for my next meeting.

{{{Cookie}}} I’m sorry about your boy, there’s nothing to say that can help, except that we are thinking of you

{{{Doggio}}} sorry for the loss of your friend :frowning:

nellie glad to hear that the lump appears to be nothing worthy of note, that must be a relief to you.

shoe good to hear that the interview went well, I hope it’s followed up with an offer…appropriate and inappropriate appendages crossed!

Right, just got time for a cup of tea before I head to my next meeting to talk about our interview panel on Friday. A whole day of interviews. Lucky me.

Okay, follow-up second interview (via Zoom) in an hour anna half.

I just wanna get all this over with. I haven’t slept right in ages … I know me, I won’t sleep well until after my first “real” day at wherever my new job is.

Good Luck, shoe! I’m sure you’ll dazzle them.

:astonished: I have been remiss! :astonished:

Good Luck on interview #2, shoe; you’ve got this.

boo fae, never had to do interviews, but did have to sit on day-long panels to weed through applications and rank them for the interviewers (only the top 25% or so got interviewed). Not a job I cared much for.

Well, went to WahlBurgers and my review is: Burgers were very tasty, fries are good but nothing special, and price was high (due to it being a sit-down and order restaurant, not a walk-up-to-the-counter place (which I thought it was at first, much to my embarrassment…)) so tipping made it a $20 meal, which was a bit steep for a burger and fries. So maybe as a treat now and then.

Also mailed my donations and bills and bought some lubricant for the shredder, as I have a large backlog of shredding to do. Rain has stopped (for now) and the afternoon is free.

I did good! The interview person “liked my energy” which isn’t something I hear often.

I guess … okay, I really want this job for $$ reasons, obvs, but … I want it because I genuinely like this industry. I love helping people, knowing that I’ve helped someone is an amazing feeling, and hell, I like weed, I like how it helps with my various issues, and I know how to help others. I’ve gotten good at zeroing in on what someone needs, and how to target various pain, sleep, etc. problems.

Wait, why am I telling YOU all this?

Because I just told HER all this, and I’m still in that mode, I guess.

Anyways, imma go cross stitch a bit.

I just returned from returning Roxy to her mom and dropping off the thank-you gift and card to our primary care provider (she’s a PA, so I’m hesitant to say Doc.) I stopped at the Amish market on the way home and got a basket of 'maters (actually 3 huge ones for $3.50) and two quarts of strawberries for noshing.

FCD had helped me install the deep sink - all that remains is for me to put a block on the wall that I can anchor the sink to. But it works. I used it to scrub 2 small trash cans that were kinda icky. When I took them outside to dry in the sun, I managed to trip and come down hard on my right knee which got skinned up and bloody thru my khakis! Now both of us will be hobbling around.

Why do I all of a sudden feel like I’m out of warranty?? :confounded:
