A Happy Memorial Day Or It's Just Another Moanday MMP

Woo hoo, shoe!!! Can’t wait to hear more.

Today is one of those days where people keep scheduling crap on top of other crap until I find myself snarling at my monitor, “I don’t effing want to talk, dammit.” So that’s fun. I just got off a 2 hour meeting, forgot I had a 30 minute meeting and am on my way to 30 minute meeting #2 and someone else just scheduled a 3rd 30 minute meeting after. Don’t these people know I’ve got stuff to do?!

My daughter graduates from elementary school tonight via zoom. She told me before she left for school she’s giving a speech, which I knew. What I did NOT know was that it will be live in our living room, so I’ve been frantically cleaning things during water and pee breaks. I guess cleaning my house is not my work’s problem, but ugh.

Full strength hydrogen peroxide will get that outta your khakis. Just pour it on and let sit for a few minutes, then again til the peroxide stops fizzing. Nurses hafta know tricks like this. Spent waaaayy too many years working in all white uniforms.

Too late, BBBoo - I already sprayed the stains with spray-n-wash. But since they’re on the inside, I’m not too worried. Plus, I paid like $5 for these pants at the thrift store and if the stain comes thru, I’ll make a pair of khaki shorts!

I’ve been known to do that too! Most often with blue jeans-I’ve got quite a pile of blue jean shorts! Plus, once they are shorts I no longer have to worry about stains or rips on the knees. I wear knee length bj shorts way into the late fall. Looks kinda weird with winter socks but people don’t hafta look (swampybear taught me this).

Nice job shoe!

Got the first coat of stain onto three pieces of furniture for a client today, had to leave Cinnamon at home, cuz I didn’t want the pupper breathing all those fumes. I felt a little funny by the end, even with the loading door wide open. Second color tomorrow, it’s a non-toxic stain, so he’ll be coming along. Hope I get the glass in soon for the display cabinet, I really want to see how it’s gonna look.

Video?

Taters for fire pitch I’d suggest scissors. I’m not sure a bath is going to budge it. Don’t ask me how I know this. My dogs would never, ever get sticky things in their fur.

shoe Yay! I’m glad it went well. I like your energy too! I may ask for a consultation at some point

Me too! Pictures

Today I had my COVID test to clear me for my back procedure on Friday. I still don’t know what time it will be, so we’re considering getting a hotel room in the area. The possible time range for arrival is 6-ish to 1-ish. 6-ish would be rough to do from my house - leave around 4?

We also went to a nursery on the way home. I restrained myself and only got a few things. It’s not like I can dig holes myself, so I’ll be relying on the gardener. I got a lavender that I’ve never seen before that has flowers that start white at the top and then change color down to a pinkish purple.

Tonight I get my crown in and some cavities filled. I am very glad. My temporary crown kept coming off.

Happy Wednesday all.

Lots of distressing news came down the pike since I posted yesterday. I’m fine. It’s just been…distressing. But I’m focusing on good things–clean apartment, roof over my head, grocery order delivered–and reminding myself this, too, shall pass.

I’d rather focus on all of you.

bumba, HAPPY BUMBADAY! I’m so glad you got yourself borned.

shoe, I’m cheering you on from here. Hell, I’d hire you in a heartbeat. When will you know?

doggio, I’m so sorry about your hockey friend. I hope Gordie is on the job with comforting licks and cuddles.

MetalMouse, forgive my ignorance, but is this a paper shredder? I didn’t know they needed lubrication.

FCM, ouch. Seriously, you don’t need khakis. You need pants made of bubble wrap. (Actually, that sounds like fun.)

wordy, congrats on your daughter getting selected to give a speech! Toss everything in laundry baskets. That’s my method.

VanGo, add me to those who’d love to see a photo.

sunny, good luck at the dentist. I’ll be thinking of you on Friday.

My knee is sore, but no swelling and I appear to have full range of motion. I felt both knees and they seem to feel the same - nothing dislocated or broken. So it’s just a big ol’ boo-boo (N.O.BBB.) Treading the mill tomorrow will be interesting.

I just walked down to cover Roxy’s sandbox and my gait wasn’t quite normal. This getting old stuff sux big time!! :stuck_out_tongue: I also retrieved the little trash cans that led to my fall - they’re clean(er) and dry, so there’s that.

I shall crochet the evening away - yay for chillage! Thus endeth my day.

Evening all. No bills in the mail, which is nice but not nice, I’ve already written the checks for my water and electric bills, so I’d kinda like to get them paid. Had BLT’s for dinner since I had scheduled a CHB but having conspicuously consumed one this afternoon, decided to wait a day or so. Rain started about 5pm and it is still coming down pretty hard, so don’t know if the garbage can will go out tonight or tomorrow (it shouldn’t matter, Monday was a holiday, so they probably won’t be here until Firday).

FCM, yeah, falling is for the young, it messes with us ‘certain age’ folks. Glad it’s not too bad.

nellie, it’s just a bottle of lubricant, you put it on a sheet of paper and run it through the machine. They advise you to do it after 30 continuous minutes (never happens here) or every two weeks (I haven’t done it for many months). Just to keep the shredders oiled, I think. I have a big old Staples machine that has served me well the past 3 years.

VanGo, keep the ventilation good for the job.

BBBoo, I can’t remember my mom pouring Hydrogen peroxide on my bloody clothes as a youth (and as a youth, I had my share of scrapes and cuts). She did spread it liberally on the wounds themselves…

talky, hope the speech goes well for daughter-unit. And of course you have to go to those meetings, because they’re important! rolls eyes

shoe, fingers crossed for you.

OK, sammiches are assimilated, rain is still raining, and (Ob-la-di, ob-la-da) life goes on… All y’all take care and I’ll catch up with you on Thorsday.

I have not observed Tonka drinking any water today. He did pee on the carpet mid-morning. (Mrs. L.A. bought one of those machines their advertising on TV that cleans up pet messes.)

{{{doggio}}} I’m sorry about your friend.

taters, you made me realize just how lucky I am in the dog bath area. It does help that Nelson is usually on a leash when we’re outside.

Mooooooooom, maybe your next remodel can be putting a walk-in shower in the basement or main bathroom.

Glad the lump wasn’t anything to worry about nellie.

Happy birthday bumba!

WTG shoe! You’ve got this!

{{{Tonka and the LAs}}}

I was still a little sickly when I went to irk today, but was feeling more like myself by lunch. Then, whilst eating my salad, I found a crouton with a bone (of sorts). I broke a tooth that had been already filled to the max. It’s a little sensitive (actually, it has been for a week or so), but not painful (knock wood). The dentist got me in for xrays after irk and will contact me for an appointment either during the evening tomorrow or Friday or sometime next week. I already have the estimate for extraction (it’s not one that shows, nor one really important in the back) and the estimate for the dental irk begun before the pandemic (a crown for a front tooth), so I’m likely looking at sinking $1K into my mouth this month.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Just so we know…doctors don’t believe in that anymore. It can destroy non-intact tissue, which is kinda the opposite of the point. Just clean boo-boos well with lots of flowing water and bandage lightly to keep dirt out but let fresh air in. Not even neosporin or bacitracin. Niece is an infectious disease doc and she is against the casual use of antibiotics. I can see her point. Ok, Nursefussbudget :woman_health_worker:t3: is done now.

missred hope the dental stuff goes well and a quick fix can be had. I have an appt next week. I’ll get lectured. I’ll deserve it.

A kitty is trying to knock over my tall glass of diet tonic water. Sniffed it, decided not to taste it. I like it-don’t miss the gin all that much and it’s awful refreshing. Im’ma cheap date.

Slower than normal day, tomorrow should be peak day for the week. Watching Habs/Jets. Thanks everybody, it’s a bit of a shock when my younger friends pass.

Ouch, Moooommmmmm!. But the peroxide trick does work.

{{{{Nellie}}}

Yay for acing the interview, shoe!

Double ouch, red.

Knockerballs!

Thanks for reminding me this is a good thing to have! (adds to Amazon cart)

The stupid just grows stronger among the “colleagues”. Those at my site are still competent, but OMG, the WFH brigade and the brain donors from the other contractor! They just keep getting worse. At least 1/4 of the veterans at my site are actively seeking alternate employment. We just can’t take much more.

Thanks for the birfday wishes everybody.

We drove up to the bustling metropolis of The Dalles today and made stops at Home Depot and Fred Meyers. Then we went to lunch at a place called the Bargeway Pub . It’s on the Columbia river. I had some really good fish tacos and Wifey had pulled pork nachos that were really good too.
I also had a dark beer called Great Divide Claymore Scotch, 7.7api. Dark, smooth and slightly sweet. I liked it. Got buzzed too. (I’m a cheap drunk these days.)

FCM and Sunny, Ouch!

I’m being summoned to take the doggos for a walk. Catch you later.

OMG, I waaaaaant one! OK, one would be pointless! I want to do this! I’d probably sprain an ankle or something, since your legs aren’t protected, but it’d be worth it. Thanks for giving me something happy to dream about, doggio.

Just got off yet another long phone call. It’s part of being in a tight-knit family, but I’m tapped out for today.

This is awful. I’m so sorry you’re in that situation. You deserve so much better. I’m hoping you get there soon. I hope all of you veterans get out at the same time. Maybe that’d be a wake-up call for management. Oh, what am I saying? Of course it won’t be. {{{Nettie}}}

Up, caffeinated, sheveled. Off to heave.

Many Knockerballs. We can make them part of Mumpfests.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 91 and cloudy for the day. We shall see. Looks like rain shall be in the forecast next week. We could use rain. The big plan of the day is to mow da yahd. Sup shall be BLT’s and oven fries. Got a gnawn’ and a cravin’ for BLTs.

shoe glad the interview went so well. Again, appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.

bumba glad you had a good bday N.O,L.

All youse with owies, dental woes, upcomin’ surgeries and so forth, hope all is well soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,

Happy Thursday Y’all!

We do have a walk-in but its footprint is the same as a tub. When we bought the place, the shower was a phone booth size and we hated it. So when we re-did our bedroom and bathroom, we took down the little bit of wall and made a decent shower, which we love. But Higgs is small enough to bathe in the deep sink.

My knee is still achy - duh - but I feel like I’m getting around a bit better. I took the big-ass band-aid off last night, but I think I may have dried off too vigorously after my shower, because it was bleeding again, so it’s got another big-ass band-aid for now. I’ll take it off later when I’m sure it’s all done leaking. Anyway, I’m going to try to tread the mill - I’m sure steady, gently motion of walking is probably good for the owie. And if not, it’s easy to stop and sit - not like if I was walking outside and had to get back home if I hurt.

We got some nice rain overnight, but that means Roxy will have to play inside today and I’ll ask her mama to pick her up since playground is out. Tomorrow, I don’t get her till late - Daughter has to attend graduation in the evening, so the RoxStar will have supper with us and spend the night. Then on Saturday, I need to climb into the attic and see if I can find my daughter’s maternity clothes. SIL will be working, or I’d make him do it.

As for the rest of today, I’ve got a load of unders in the washer, but that’ll be the extent of laundrying. And I’ve got 2 quarts of Amish strawberries that need to be cleaned. I finished both babby afghans so it’s time to figure out a new project. I’ve now got a lot of scraps to use up and I’d like an afghan for the basement. So random it shall be!

Today, my MIL turns 90 - I need to remind FCD to call her. He never remembers his parents’ b-days or anniversary. He only remembers my b-day because it’s 1/23! And I think he remembers our anniversary - it’s the day before his ex-wife’s b-day, altho I know he doesn’t always remember that either. I only know because I looked at their marriage license (yeah, he still has it. No attachment - he just has it.)

Onward, troops! We shall have a Happy Thursday! No owies allowed!!!
