A Happy Memorial Day Or It's Just Another Moanday MMP

Morning all. Pills taken to start the day, now waiting 45 minutes before breaking fast. rain seems to have left for the time being, the weather wizards say there is a 50/50 chance of tunder-boomers this afternoon, so we’ll see. Temp is heading for 80F, but down to 60F tonight.

BBBoo, I’ll try and remember that, this was back in the 50’s and 60’s, but I still have a big bottle of hydrogen peroxide sitting in my bathroom.

nellie, those knockerballs look like fun, but getting knocked over and down isn’t that much fun anymore, so I’ll just watch all you young’uns…

Seanette, hope the job search is coming along, sounds like they are about on your last nerve now, and it’s getting pretty frayed…

FCM, hope the knee keeps getting better–treadmill isn’t a bad idea, but if you find it makes it hurt worse…

{{red}}, teeth are never fun to be worked on, hope it works out. Never considered a crouton being a danger to my dental work…

OK, onward into Thorsday. All y’all take care.

I woke up at 4, and here I am, still sleepy. Brains should have dimmer switches. It’s only supposed to get up to 74 today. That’ll be nice.

I wish I could run off and join the circus. Unfortunately, I have no talents anyone would pay to see. Guess I’ll run off to the gym instead.

FCM, doc told me once that wounds heal faster if you keep 'em moist and covered. Something about scabs keeping new cells from forming as fast.

Good morning everyone. I was awake at 0300, but forced myself to try and sleep some more. I finally rolled out of bed at about 4:15.

It’s funny all the back and forth on wound care over the years; keep it covered, don’t keep it covered, use this or that, or nothing but soap and water. All I know is that my bumps, bruises, and scrapes take much longer to heal nowadays.

I know many of you know because of my FB page, but I was officially offered and accepted the promotion yesterday. It’s a nice pay bump too. This opens possibilities I hadn’t considered two years ago, and, I must say, two promotions in two years is nice too. Leaving DoD and going to USDA was the best thing I ever did.

shoe, I’m glad the interview went well. I hope you get the job.

Seanette, I really hope you find a different job soon. Your workplace sounds awful.

Best of luck to those with upcoming dental work. I need some myself and I am really dreading it.

Today the weather will be much cooler. The predicted high around here is 71 and the next two days the highs drop down into the 60s; actually, Saturday the predicted high will be 60 exactly. That’s a little cool for June. On the other hand, we’ve already had some brush fires around here, so cool and damp is what we need. All the fire-fighting agencies are really dreading this summer. The fires get bigger and worse every year and these last few years, many have been on the West side of the Cascades. That was rare in years past.

Today is my Friday. I’m glad for that. I only have to get through this month and next and then I’ll be on vacation. I am really looking forward to that. I do need a serious break. I’m just worn down. My new position brings much more work and responsibility, and, I’m up for that; but I still need a break. It’s been almost a year since my vacation and the little days off here and there just don’t cut it. I am hoping that I will be able to leave my laptop along while on vacation. I think it will depend upon if we get a new Director during the next couple of months.

Welp, time for more coffee. Cup number 3!

Congratulations, Taters!!

And seanette, I hope you find something else soon - it’s miserable being miserable in a place like that.

nellie, if you find that dimmer switch, please share your source.

Today is clearing up - right now it’s low 60sF, headed for high 80s. The sun is coming out, overlyboy is finishing up his first final of the day (which he finished last night, just needs to hit a button at this point) and overlygirl is at school for a half day for reasons unfathomable to me, except I assume that this is part of the state’s minimum number of school hours required, even though all they’re doing is recess and snacks. At least she’s got something to do I suppose.

I’m turning into Rodney Dangerfield from Caddyshack. I keep finding my bird feeder on the ground because squirrels keep devouring all the food. What’s immensely frustrating is that they manage to steal the hook on which it’s situated. But I’ve upped the ante - ordered a squirrel dome. Any alternative or additional suggestions are welcome before I put little land mines in my yard (yes, I kid). If that’s the biggest problem I’ve got today, I’m doing alright.

Thanks for the good wishes, Mumpers. The stress of being unemployed, even briefly, has been taking a toll.

Yesterday, after I got off the Zoom interview, I took myself out for a celebration lunch, and then - at about 4:30 pm - I went the hell to bed. Not like, for a nap. I mean, I went TO BED. Just absolutely exhausted, mentally and physically.

I feel better today - close to a day in bed oughta be restorative! - and now I’m watching my email like a hawk for the offer letter I’m hoping they’ll send.

OH! Right before the Zoom call, I got a call from a different dispo that was interested, too!

Might as well not have all eggs in one basket, so imma follow up with them today.
There was just nothing left of me yesterday to make the effort.

Conga-rats! I’m sure you deserve every red cent of your raise.

Afternoon, mumpers! Pleased to report no major side-effects from my jab yesterday. I didn’t sleep well due to the heat, and my arm is very sore. I had a headache but I blame the lack of sleep and the thunderstormy weather for that. I took a couple of paracetamol and everything’s fine now.

The roadworks across the street have moved down the road a bit so it’s less noisy and it’ll be much easier to get the car on and off the drive. I have had a busy morning faffing with spreadsheets and will spend the rest of the afternoon doing the same. Then tomorrow it’s interview panel all day. metalmouse I’ve done shortlisting for interviews before now, that’s always fun because I am nosy and I like reading other people’s info. This is round one of interviews so we are having 15-20 mins with each candidate (16 scheduled, 13 have confirmed) and then whittling it down to 5 or 6 for a longer interview.

Belated happy Bumba day - managed to miss this yesterday, hope it was a fun day.

Tonka and the LAs - thinking of you and sending a big hug your way.

Taters congrats on the job news, that’s a great result for you.

My DJ friend has sent me his radio show that airs later this week, so I will put that on and get back to those damn spreadsheets!

Turns out I don’t have Roxy today - SIL doesn’t work till late, so yay!

In celebration, I vacuumed the common rooms, then rotated the living room area rug. My unders in the dryer should be dry - time to drag them up here and start folding. Knee is still sore, but lots looser - probably because I’ve kept moving.

I know I commented on FB, but YAAAAAAAY for taters!!! I’m very happy for you as you climb up the ladder! And a job isn’t so awful when you enjoy it and your efforts are recognized. So huzzah!!

Fingers crossed for you, shoe! I must have missed something - I knew you were looking, but I didn’t realize the other job wasn’t any more. But it sounds like you’ll bounce back fast!

OK, time to empty the dryer. Onward!!

My daughter messaged me that she just realized that she’d have to feed a boy. And if he’s anything like his father, well, her grocery bill is gonna be HUGE!!!

My son is getting to the point where a pizza is a snack and has complained on multiple occasions that he’s always hungry. And of course, the dude is pencil thin. I’m torn between awe, terror and jealousy.

My MIL had THREE teenage boys at once to feed. She used to hide treats in Kotex boxes to keep them away from the boys. Otherwise, a package of Oreos would be inhaled instantly!

I kept thinking earlier that something was happening today, something I wanted to remember. Thanks for reminding me, BooFae:

{Tonka and his loving owners}

Congrats, Taters!

Hooray for the interest from TWO dispensaries, shoe!

I thought my grocery bills wouldn’t be too bad when my daughter hit her teens. I didn’t factor in the boyfriends she’d bring home. My house was also the hangout for her friends, so yeah, didn’t get a break on food. I loved it, though.

Time for breakfast and then I’m off to the gym. It’s cool and cloudy, so it’ll be a nice walk.

Taters congrats on promotion! It’s always nice to be valued.

shoe Fingers crossed for that offer letter.

talky my teenage son is the same way. I cannot believe the amount of food he packs away (and then looks for more). We’re trying to encourage more fruits and veggies. Ha!

I am so tired today and I feel like the list of things that I want to do before my procedure tomorrow is impossibly long. I’ve got to get at least some of it done though, because after that I’ll be on bed rest. Grrrrrr On the plus side, my tooth is fixed and my teeth have been Cleaned™ by the dentist.

I’m taking Pixel to the vet today for a checkup. He’s breathing hard (like he just finished running for a mile). Not panting, but kind of forceful. I’m worried about him. He’s not a youngun, so I’m hoping for the best. Then it’s on to finishing and folding up the laundry. After that, collapse. Or maybe, collapse then laundry. Decisions, decisions.

Happy Thursday everyone.

You know what sucks worse than than walking a quarter mile to the car uphillboth ways in 100 degree heatand snow fighting off bears*(N.O.B.)? Walking a quarter mile downhill in a thunderstorm in inch deep water.

I talked to a couple who had a NHL player son and 2 friends stay for a week. That cost the GDP of Albania.

*the bear is actually downtown now.

One of my co-workers has triplet boys who just turned either 13 or 14 a couple of months ago.

Second dispo phone interview went fine, but she didn’t sound hugely enthusiastic. I think she just has a bunch of candidates already & is hitting interview fatigue.

But that’s okay.

… cuz I just signed & returned the offer letter from the place where my buddy works. He clearly gold-plated this opening for me.

Assuming no administrative hiccups, I should start my new job in a week or so. Time to watch ALL THE NETFLIX lol.

Me, too.

This is my reality.

Between vacuuming and treading the mill for 3+ miles, my knee is pretty loose, so yay! Still hurts, but my range of motion is virtually normal.

I just bagged up some wool yarn and a bunch of clothes that I can’t wear any longer - I’ll take it all to the thrift store tomorrow, then peruse their racks for babby clothes. And I pulled out a box of miscellaneous yarn scraps that are about to be knitted into a lap robe. Because I deserve to sit and chill, dammit! :stuck_out_tongue:

When my daughter was in preK, there was a boy in her class who had triplet brothers who were about 2. Yep, 4 boys under 6. I wonder if the mother drank??? No, I wonder WHAT the mother drank.

Yay, shoe!!! Congratulations!

Hooray shoe!! :tada::clap:t3::clap:t3::confetti_ball::clap:t3::clap:t3::tada::confetti_ball:. They’re lucky to have you and they will soon know it! You go, girl!!

{{{{{{{ Tonka and the LAs }}}}}}}} thinking you all about from afar

Easy supper tonight - I’m baking a batch of russets - we’ll put stuff on them and chow down.

Severe t-storm watch for our area thru 9PM - we could get whomped… or get nothing… who knows?
