A Happy Thanksgiving MMP

Years ago, when I was a bachelor living in Crystal City, VA, Thanksgiving came around and I had no girlfriend, my parents had retired and moved away, no friends invited me to their place for dinner. But I did hear that a restaurant/topless bar near my apartment was having a Thanksgiving buffet, big screen TVs showing the games, and then at 6, the usual female entertainment.

On Monday, my department’s secretary asked me what I did, and I told her I had dinner at the topless restaurant. She said she was sorry, she should’ve invited me over. I then replied, “But that’s what I’m thankful for: that I live across the street from a topless bar.”

AWB, I admit I’m stuck on the idea of eating in the same place people go around half nekkid. Visions of dancers stepping around the chafing dishes, body glitter in the mashed potatoes…

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 39 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 74. Right now in ye olde hometowne ‘tis 32 Amurrkin with a predicted high of 67. Sunday promises rain. Of course, it probably will be some kinda deluge since I’ll get to drive home in it. So will OYKW and he’s got even further to drive, poor thing. Speakin’ of whom, he’s already on the road. He left at six so he could stop for a bizkit and then a fun seven hour drive to see family. Ima leave this afternoon to head up to nawth Jawja. I have two sweet N.O.T. pies bakin’ away as I post to take with me. I’m tahrd of cookin’!

Sounds like everyone has a good Turkey Day. Now, it’s eat up leftovers time! I have some turkey for sammiches a couple of days but that’s all. I’m glad for that. I sent several folks home with food yestiddy just so’s there wouldn’t be leftovers layin’ around.

Now I shall seek more caffiene and must feed rumbly tummy. I might go back to sleep when the pies are done. We shall see.

Happy Firday Y’all!

And I’m up! The only Thanksgiving leftovers I have are some really yummy cake squares - two were breakfast. **FCD **is still abed, the critters have been tended to, and I’m enjoying some quiet time in my fuzzy robe.

Today I’m going to clean the fridge. A couple of the shelves are icky sticky and it’s more than I can tend to with a quick swipe of a wet cloth. So I’ll empty it out, remove the shelves and drawers, wash down the inside walls, wash and reinstall the stuff I removed, and put the food back, also probably washing the bottoms of sticky jars. Good times, huh? Then I’m thinking I’ll play in clay.

Other than that, no real plans for today. It’s just barely above freezing at the moment, altho we might see 60 today. No rain thru the weekend, so that’s good. Daughter’s coming over today. And all in all, life is good.

Happy Firday! Good luck to the shoppers - I shan’t be joining you!

Blurf.

Cooling my heels at the rescue station, waiting to go to brekkies.

In other news, a major government study has determined 6 out of 7 dwarfs are not happy.

But on the up shot, 6 out 7 aren’t Dopey!

Apple pie and coffee or brekkies. Life is good.

We are at my mom-in-laws oncology appointment right now. mr ems is in with her at the doc now. My engineering background aka common sense helped the morning when mr end couldn’t get the regulator on the small mobile oxygen tank to actually allow flow. Today will be turkey sammichs for lunch and staying the hell away from stores! Enjoy the rest of the long week US based mmpers and enjoy th fact it is friday

Good morning everyone. I’m one of the few here at work. It’s a DONSA, but I came in anyway. I wanted to make sure my TDY orders and plane ticket for next week were all good and squared away.

I have some things to do here, but I honestly don’t think I’ll get much done. You’d think that as tired as I was yesterday I would have slept like a log, but I didn’t. To top it off, Polar is sick. He barfed a couple of times this morning, and was still not feeling well when I left. My son is home, but he’ll be dead to the world since he and his buddy were up all night long.

My son and his buddy went to the mall last night at midnight in hopes of scoring some deals for Christmas and were back home around 1:30. Yes, I was still up. I was still wide awake at 3:00 this morning too.

My meal was a success and we sent everyone home with leftovers. I thought I had made too much stuffing, but hell, there isn’t much left. I had stuffing in the bird, and dressing on the side. It’s good to know it’s such a hit.

Still have tons of turkey, though. My husband is looking forward to turkey sammiches. I say he and my son can eat all if for all I care. Just not a fan.

Well, I suppose I should earn my paycheck. Toodles for now.

For some reason last night my sweet boy Bubba would not stop barking when he was put in his crate for the evening. I had him outside at least 3 times and every time I put him back in and got back into bed he’d start up again. I tried other things and nothing worked. Finally, for the first time I can remember in the 7 or 8 years he’s been alive I let him sleep in bed with me for the night. That shut him up, but honestly, I don’t feel like I slept at all. I actually took a nap that I just woke up from, but I still feel kind of blah. Now I need to find the motivation to work on my crappy homework. Ugh.

Back from erranding. **FCD **has some PT set up for next week and he requested his last operation notes be sent to his surgeon. They we ran to the shopping center where I got a gallon of milk and he got a small can of acetone - not to go together, so don’t panic.

Daughter will be coming over and staying for supper. I’ve got sketty sauce out and thawing. **FCD **is futzing in the basement. I should probably do something. Eventually. Maybe. I’m feeling lazy. Scruffy has an appointment at 8 tomorrow to get a hair cut - she’s long overdue.

Beautiful day, if a tad chilly. If it warms above 60, I may open the windows for a little while. And some time this weekend, I’ll do another leaf vac-n-mulch, plus I need to run to the convenience center. Good times!

I made cinnamon French toast for brunch. I intend to freeze the leftovers, but we’ll see if they get that far.

Today is a sunny 48F. I’m staying home and knitting today.

I now know what was probably wrong with Bub yesterday.* Unfortunately.

I took my grandparents out to lunch today. My grandpa didn’t eat half of his food so he brought it home. When we got back here, the other two dogs went downstairs with them but Bub stayed with me. When he got called downstairs by my grandma I was suspicious and jumped up and practically ran down there. And sure enough, she was dividing up the egg, potatoes, and country fried steak amongst them.

Let’s just say that the food has been destroyed and the dogs are now blocked off from the basement. I am so angry… at the world. Even though she has Alz, on some level I think she does know better, just thinks that a little bit won’t hurt. The problem is that she never stops at a little bit (which is where Alz comes in, she forgets how much she already gave them).

Honestly, I don’t know what to do. I can’t be here all the time. But if she keeps this up he’s going to get sick again. And from what I understand a second attack of pancreatitis will probably be worse than the first. Honest to God, if it’s worse than before I don’t think my boy will make it. :frowning:

Ok, once again, I’m going to attempt to calm down and get back to homework.

*They went out yesterday and brought home leftovers then, too.

An hour to go with today’s shift. Only 2 calls so far, and both were routine. One was a guy that passed out while at his doctor’s office, and he had phenomenally low blood pressure. The other was an old lady with chest pains, and in the early stages of a heart attack. She was a hoot, and well known to the rest of the crew.

So far, no tales to tell.

Well, that was fun - I just mixed up a few batches of plaster of paris to make my second wedging table - it was messy, but it’s done - now I just need to wait for it to set. Daughter is helping her dad with aquarium stuff downstairs. Scruffy is bugging me to be fed - 15 more minutes, mutt!!

We had a late lunch so we’ll have late sketties. I just need to be sure to get up early tomorrow since Scruffy needs to be at the groomer by 8.

I see a very lazy evening ahead.

Home now; Papa is making din-din.

Had one last run before quittin’ time, and it was not remarkable, either. Sunday is coming, though.

We had a nice dinner with the in-laws yesterday. Had a scare just as the turkeys were being pulled out of the ovens. (She bought two birds to feed eight people… lots of leftovers!)

He pager starts shrieking. She runs from the kitchen to wherever her husband was - “We got a fire call!” and they vamoose. She called ten minutes later to say their station was canceled for that particular run, and was back five minutes later. Fortunately, no other pages came in for the rest of the day.

After dinner, it was domino domination. For someone else. I lost pretty badly.

Apple is liking me right now. I just bought myself an iPad, and tomorrow, I’m getting a new Mac Mini for DH. He keeps complaining about how slow and terrible his current PC is, and about once a month, he stumbles into some sort of malware. Last week, it was something that corrupted searching and took him to garbage sites. Last month, it was one of those ransomware fake antivirus things. With the Mini, we’ll once again be all-Mac at home.

It must be close to Christmas-- I’ve got glitter practically everywhere. Like someone took a fairy and shook it really good.

So I had my delayed Thanksgiving today and I do believe turkey should be illegal it’s so yummy. I was compelled to do a happy little dance as I carved and nibbled.

In a couple of hours I’m going to go grab some carrots and such to complete the making of stock and turkey soup. It’s good my area doesn’t really go in for Black Friday madness-- the store will be deserted and my fear of crowds (they could step on my toes!) won’t cause stress.

Tomorrow is movie day! For me it’s Run Lola Run on DVD. Anybody see something good in the theatres?

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

My Og, I got VWife out of bed at 6 AM, went out for Sattiday brekkies, and done the weekly provisioning. She doesn’t normally come to life before 9 AM…
