Sorry about your grandma, Sticky. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to deal with these changes in her behavior.
Work was nice and quiet yesterday, so I got lots done. Yay! Did a bunch of knitting last night and am well into a scarf for mom. Good think since I have a few new little items I want to knit for Christmas as well.
I intended to be productive today - so I went to bed about 11pm; tossed and turned a bit, turned the TV on to something drone-y and closed my eyes … until about 3:30am at which point I said “screw it” - I made coffee at 5:30, and finished it off by 7:30 - now I want to go to sleep.
Dinner was a success! I had so much fun playing with Faye, the 6-yr old girl. I taught her how to get the dogs to do their tricks. (Turkey is a great motivator for them!) She loved the coloring /activity books, and made sure that everybody had a sticker. I got “superstar!” And she had a blast playing Jenga. (Thanks to whomever mentioned that in the last few weeks. You inspired me!)
It was exhausting, though. My legs are sore from all the standing yesterday. So today will be a jammies day. Yes, ALL DAY! I’ll do some laundry, and we’ll eat leftovers for lunch and dinner. I’ll freeze whatever turkey meat we have leftover after that, and save it for Turkey Spaghetti in a week or two. I gave a ton of leftovers away to the kids.
Sarah is such a sweetie. She’s gotten ReboSon to stop smoking pot, and cut down on his cigarette smoking! He’s changing so much - he is more responsible and dependable. I have dreamed of him meeting a woman that motivated him to grow up.
Happy Saturday, everyone. I’ll be over here in my recliner, sitting on my ass.
Back from assorted stuff. Scruffy had an 8AM groomer appointment, so we dropped her off, then went to Bob Evans for breakfast. Next stop was Lowe’s, followed by a stop at Hair Cuttery. Guess it was grooming day for us also! I just got about 2 or 3" of raggedy ends trimmed off, and **FCD **got his beard trimmed as well as a much needed haircut. So we’re both beeeyooteeful!
I just took some bills down to the mailbox, surrounded by guinea fowl. Those goofy birds are fearless! Luckily, they didn’t come into the garage. That would have been a mess. In a few minutes, I’ll haul the laundry downstairs and get a load started. Later on when it warms up a bit, it’ll be time to do leaves again. Good times!
Third load in the washer, second in the dryer, still waiting for the groomer to call me to fetch the dog. I bet they’re having issues with her - she HATES being groomed. I should give the groomer a tip…
I’m enjoying my laziness today. It makes up for having to wake up early.
Moooooooooom, I was in Shoppers a little bit ago, and spotted a t-shirt that made me think of you and Daaaaaaaaaaaaad. On the front was a picture of an anchor, and on the back was the phrase, “Punish me, I’ve been very nautical…”
**BBBobbio **- I love that tshirt! I’d buy it for my sweetie in a heartbeat!
Back from picking up my nekkid dog. I think the groomer hates her - she wrote that the dog bites, but she thinks it’s because the dog is stressed from limited vision and not liking to be groomed. Poor Scruffy. But at least she doesn’t stink.
Last of the laundry for today is in the dryer. I should go out and do leaves, but I don’t feel like it. No tengo motivation…
 Sorry GT! The really fine stuff is so hard to get rid of-- worse than herding jello cats.
Glargle-- I have to go back to the store. I gathered up everything I needed for cooking, got to the check out, and wasn’t allowed the wine I wanted for one dish. Only six minutes after two am. If I’d just not stopped to look through the book section!
Ah well, it’s a gorgeous day, 72 and sunny with a little breeze. I might even put the top down and get my daily dose of sunshine (slathered with sunscreen, but still).
Many hugs to you Sticky, my mom has dementia and it hurts in so many ways. Before she went into assisted living, and we didn’t know what was going on, her diabetes nearly killed her. She’d forget and ‘forget’ her meds, and what she’d eaten. I was around 24/7 and still couldn’t get things totally smoothed out. One of the good things about nurses is that she can’t pull the whole “I’m the mom, Missy!” with them.
Sigh, what is it with my family and them losing their phones?
My son just sent me note via FB that he’s lost his cell phone. That means tomorrow I have to haul him down to the AT&T store to get a new freakin’ phone and this wasn’t an expense I was anticipating.
I just gave him $100.00 gift card for groceries yesterday. He’s supposed to leave for Pullman tomorrow.
I guess I’m just sort of miffed because I had plans of my own. I wanted to brave the mall and find a couple of new shirts and maybe a pair of slacks and jeans for my training next week. I also desperately need a couple of new boulder holders.
So, now I have to mess with the phone situation, unless by some miracle my son finds it. I have never, ever (knocks on wood) lost my phone. Each of my kids and my husband have.
I will most likely be absent here on the boards next week. I am leaving my work laptop at work, but will be in training down in San Diego starting Monday.
It appears that it will be sunny down there Monday through Wednesday. I couldn’t seen anymore of the forecast for down there. I’ll be in training during the day, but the evenings look sort of mild (mid-50s) so maybe I’ll venture to the Gaslight (lamp?) district one night.
Just a drive by to say that I am finally getting some work done on my Nutrition paper and I think I finally figured out what my intestinal pain is (gas). Glad I opted for trying Gas Ex before taking my mom’s suggestion that I got to the ER to be checked for appendicitis. Looks like I get to be the only member of my immediate family with an appendix for a while longer.
Back to work. Must be responsible.
rosie’s sig to all!!!
p.s. if anyone knows how to turn off the damn touchpad on a damn HP Mini 210-2145DX, I’d love to know. Just remembered why I stopped using the stupid thing 6 months ago!
Ooh Taters, you’re a lucky dog! The Gaslamp District is pretty darned cool. Definitely take a walk around, I especially like it at night. So many people out and about, restaurants, shops, the whole shebang San Diego style.
If you want to shop, Horton Plaza is fun/camp (?). Kinda touristy, but still good stores. Not too far away is Bucca di Beppo, a crazy Italian place. At least just go in to take a look-- it’s like a memorabilia-on-the-walls restaurant gone wild. The food has been good+ every time for me.
Brought to you by the San Diego Mall Enthusiast Organisation. Going with the flow since, meh… I could be at the beach.
Yeah, I’ve been there before; even ate at Croce’s, which was good, if spendy.
I don’t have a rental car, so any place I go will have to be in walking distance. I suppose I could have gotten a rental, but it seemed unnecessary this time.
