Chicken with rice? Rice with beans? Chicken-broth rice pasta? Rice with tomato sauce? Rice “cuban style” (a Spanish dish including one fried egg, sausages, white rice and tomato sauce)? Any dish which has flour, but made from maize flour?
Nothing exciting to share. Work was OK. Weather is cool and wet. Knitted stuff shipped out today. **FCD **had to get a new crackberry - his old one was dying. Daughter is on her way home. I forgot to feed the dogs till 30 minutes late when Scruffy started barking at me. Little nag…
Nope, nothing much to share. Is it Firday yet???
Glad your day is okay, rebo.
So, I went to see the doc today because I’ve been having some medical issues and I just couldn’t stand it anymore.
I ended up having to get a pap and several blood tests. I have to give my doc credit, he spent a good long time with me going over my current complaints and following up on some previous issues.
I have to wait for the results of my blood tests, urinalysis and pap to see where we’re going to go with my current issues. I don’t think it’s anything really serious. It’s more an annoyance than anything. TMI warning guys…
My monthly visitor is visiting way more than once a month. Sometimes I can go a whole two weeks, and other times, I’ve barely been off of the cycle more than seven days and there it is again. I want to put a stop to it, and more than anything, I don’t want it happening while I’m in Hawaii.
There are some other minor things that I won’t go into here.
I should have gone back to work after the appointment and labs, but I was feeling some major discomfort, so just came on home. The office can live without me for a day.
Hugs and smooches to all.
That makes sense. I just get freaked out when I see more than 1 dietary restriction. Vegetarian I can handle. One single other allergy I can handle. But put 3 together, and I get lost.
{{Taters}} Hope they figure out what’s wrong soon.
Rx is not ready, which sucks because I need it, but hopefully by tomorrow… I also washed my hair and did some house laundry (ie throws, sheets, towels). And I have dinner in the oven. I am smug and righteous about now.
LiLi–I hate to tell you this, but I laid down and cried when #1 son gave up his nap. He did occasionally still take one, but that made it worse, since it meant he’d be up later in the evening. I suggest major drugs–for YOU. Either that or a reliable babysitter/family member for when you absolutely must have a break.
:smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack::smack:
I meant to say “I’m glad your dad is okay,** rebo**”.
I don’t know why, but I’m dead tired.
I wonder what it means that I didn’t even notice until you pointed that out. I assumed you said “dad.” Hah!
Personally I think it was awfully nice of you to be concerned about Rebo’s day Taters. Hope everything turns out to be ok for ya. Sounds like your doc is a good one.
Rebo yay for your dad bein’ ok and here’s hopin’ your day was too. See, I can be nice too!
Moonie if somebody asks me about my 'puter, I say it’s black and when I turn it on I can check email and surf the net and post stuff to complete strangers all over the world provided my modem thingy which is also black works.
Pool guy came by and replaced my dead pool timer. He put in the new one I bought and took the old one to wherever stuff like that goes away to once it’s dead. We also discussed the price of converting to a salt water system. He says he could work with me to get the whole shebang converted over for around 1500 bucks which ain’t a bad price. I’ve thought about this a lot lately. I average around 350 bucks a year on pool supplies versus about 40 bucks a year with a salt water system.
Plus I still need to redo floors in da cave.
I swear, sometimes I just hunt for stuff to spend money on.
Hah! You want to hunt for stuff to spend on money on around my place, Swampy?
Lemme see…I need new flooring, better quality carpet, a new dishwasher, brakes for my rig, and the list goes on.
Well, I don’t need new flooring; I’d like to have new flooring. Hardwood please, brazilian cherry.
I meant to also tell you, Swampy, that the meat turned out well. My daughter’s boyfriend had purchased a HUGE pork tenderloin and some sort of sausages. We’ll be eating that stuff for days. I tried to get the daugther’s boyfriend to take some home with him, but he refused to do so.
Speaking of meat, or more specifically dinner, I guess I should figure out what sides I’ll make with all this leftover meat.
Off to mull it over for a bit.
**swampasaurus **- you could always buy me a present. I know ya lurves me and you probably don’t want to make everyone else jealous, but I promise I won’t tell anybody. 'Cause I care.
rebo, I think I’m going to insist on continuing “quiet time” after naptime isn’t necessary anymore. Enforced attempts to get an hour and a half to two hours off. Play quietly, read books, nap. I know families who’ve done it. I’m going to try.
And if that fails, I have my mother close by.
Mr. Lissar needs me in the kitchen. Have Imentioned I love having a dishwasher? I love it.
You feed celiacs (who are also allergic to eggs and dairy. Did I mention that?) chicken soup, duck, roasted potatoes, salad, cherry granita, and lots of wine. And they can eat rice and quinoa and stuff. It still gives me frigging heart attacks to feed them.
I hereby Pit WTTW, my local PBS station AND PBS for making it so damned hard to 1. find the show The English Surgeon and 2. find out when it is airing in my area (apparently not in prime time) and 3. for providing a link that says “watch this show online” and only giving me the preview, not the show and not telling me when the show will be on online.
I hate crappily designed websites. Argh.
Eh. We’re back among the living.

Get Flu Shots!
Having The Flu Really Sucks!
/PSA
Tamiflu helps somewhat, but is wicked expensive. All the sweating we did at night made for a real pain in the laundry. Think we were changing the bedsheets every day for a week. I lost about 12 pounds. My luck is that they’ll find their way back home.
Think it was last Tuesday night that we happened to look at the clock at almost the same exact moment and say to each other “It’s almost eight o’clock. We probably should eat something.”
Hopefully, I don’t have to go through all of that again for a very long time.
Glad to see you back amongst us, gotti, and glad you’re feeling better.
LiLi, I think you win the Gold Medal in Impromptu Hostessing for that surprise dinner party… If there was one, of course.
(well, maybe silver, but only because I wasn’t invited… hmph)
Also, I think that QD and Attacks Husband would make an adorable couple. Quite likely a very earnest couple that is prone to waxing intellectual on random topics, perhaps, but adorable nonetheless.
{{gotti}} Welcome back. Glad you finally managed to kick that flu’s ass.
Hope the doc manages to figure out what’s wrong and can patch you up proper-like, Taters.
Miami Friend is en route and should arrive with his worldly possessions in about half an hour. Then I have a show tomorrow, the first of my six (!) film fest screenings on Thursday, dinner party with friends at their new condo on Friday, and another film fest screening on Sunday. Oh, and I suppose I should get some sewing done on Saturday, considering I have a bridesmaids dress to finish for end of November.
Oy vey, it’s gonna be a busy one.
It was leftovers tonight at the RubyHaus.
Pot roast and Johnny Carino’s heart-attack-on-a-plate (aka fettuccini alfredo).
Life is good.
[mini rant]No day off tomorrow, VP might drop in[/mini rant] Also somebody left a giant hairball on the bed. I hope it’s one of the dogs, or else I have a large cat in the apartment.[Ghostbusters]Somebody brought a cougar to a party, and it went berserk[/Ghostbusters]
Yay for Rebodad! And Rebo day.
swampy, if ya goota throw money around, I’d love to have a kegerator.
LiLI, I bet rum works almost as well as restraints.
My wonderful husband worked all day, then came home and shampooed the hallway.
As a reward, and as celebration for clean colons - I made fried poke chops, mashed NOT’s and peas.
ReboSon came over to bum a tankful of gas, but rent and electric is paid! Yay! He stayed for poke chops, 'cuz nobody can resist my poke chops.
We had a long talk about love and life and stuff. I told him he should tell the girl he loves her. He’s afraid, 'cuz several years ago he kinda said it when he didn’t mean it, but now he does and it’s oh so complicated… I didn’t have much advice, but told him I’m always here to listen. <sniff> I love that boy. Even though he’s 25, he’s still my little boy, ya know?
LiLi - the end of naps is not the only transition you’ll have to deal with! Hang in there, eventually you’ll get some sleep.
I must be tired, I’m a little weepy.
Wisdom teefs come out in six point five hours. Planning on not sleeping at all tonight so I can sleep all day tomorrow.
That’s pretty much it.
Last time I had a flu shot, it worked. I got the flu.
With my immune system issues, Doc says I’m better off without the shot - I haven’t had one in years, nor have I caught the flu since the last time I had a flu shot, about ten years ago.
Played Buzztime Trivia tonight. Now I am über tired
