A Labor Day Belated Birthday BBQ – The MMP

OK, this is going on the fridge where Brandy can see it…

Oglibartry stoned possst…

Wow! That’s a bodacious set of tatas! On scrub nurse, not me. I made sure they took me back for hand surgery, not the sex change.

The alien is gone, but so is the kitten. My procedure took about 25 minutes, and went well. I didn’t say anythng stupid under anesthesia, or so they said.

Using half of a hand is very weird. We have bet running right now on when the major disaster happens beteen now and Monday when I get my stitches out and can play with sirens again.

If that storm hits as a hurricane, screw the doctor I’ll be there, bad finger and all.

I dug the hole before we left, so #3 was laid to rest immediately. Rest in peace and roll in the celestial catnip, little one.

Glad to hear the surgery went well, Bobbio. Sorry about the kitten.

My interview went fine. If it were a contract position, I’d probably take it, but I couldn’t see working there permanently. So, on to the next one!

Calling the cops was out of the question?

Glad to hear the alienectomy was successful. Sorry about the poor kitty. :frowning:

Bad Sean! Have a nice trip anyway.

Keep us updated on the results from FCD’s procedure, FCM. (And I love that cartoon, BTW.)

Glad for a little more diagnosis, Nava. And yes, we missed you. We’re still not exactly sure what you did at Puggy’s party and will expect a full confession upon your return. Perhaps the leopard-skin thong was actually yours? :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad to hear Rusty seems to be doing better.

How’d the midwife meeting go, LiLi. How cool that you practically know the subject of the book!

Congrats on the Halo thing, LOUNE. Good to know you come by at least one halo honestly.

I’m thinking Libby might still be getting used to you, ems. Don’t get too stressed about it.

Gee MBG, you have a great job, sometimes. I hope this means the principal got to drive Zack home. Maybe with a chaperone. And thoroughly explain his/her lack of responsible behavior. So does the principal get some type of discipline for that?

Hi Puppet!

Tired-ish. One more day of work and then VACATION!!!

Gotta do some planning.

Back after a while.

GT

Well, $345 later and we still have no idea what was wrong with Rusty. Other than that he truly does not like having IVs put in; he apparently kept chewing through his IV lines and managed to remove two of them himself – they finally had to sedate him and turn him into a coneheadto get him to leave it alone.

So we got to bring him home for the night; I take him back in the morning to get the IV catheter removed as long as he’s still doing okay. Of course, a heavily sedated conehead is absolutely HILARIOUS! He ran into the house, turned the corner to run into my office, and promptly ran head-on into the wall! And then proceeded to bounce off every wall he could find on his way to pee about three gallons in the yard – as snowbunny said, “Call a flash food warning!”   Papa Tigs and I have been laughing so hard we both had tears running down our faces! Stoopid, STOOPID dog!

I’m glad the alienectomy went well, too, Bobbio, and that the nurse ended up with the good rack, not you. But I’m sorry the kitten didn’t make it. :frowning: You made me all sniffly with your celestial catnip! :frowning: :frowning:

Okay, time to do something constructive. Which I haven’t done much of today for some strange reason. Except get nearly everything blocked – I’ll put up a few photos later once I get them cleaned up.

It happened at a brand new building, an early childhood center, and today was their first day. With kids that small, and most of them with either physical handicaps or learning disabilities as is, the teachers organize them into ‘bus lines’ before they bring them to the buses.

SOMETIMES, kids slip lines, but that’s why they have colored tags on their book bags.

Cops weren’t needed because it’s not as Zack was abandoned, he WAS on a bus after all. And I was all set to give the principal the benefit of the first day blahs, until my superintendent called me because Zack’s dad called him.

So, I gave her up. He knows that at that age, we take whoever the teacher puts on the bus, because we need to trust SOMEONE at the school to know.

OK, I am not pleased. I had another kiln explosion - this time, a flower pot. It was such a pretty pot, but apparently it was still wet at its thickest part. Which means I ended up with shards stuck to several medallions and 2 of my monsters. I’m going to try to fix the monsters. The medallions aren’t worth bothering with.

Oh, and Isaac’s dish has a split in it. It looks as if I didn’t seal one of the seams well enough. It’s cursed. You can decide whether you want it or not on Sat, MamaTigs.

On the plus side, the gramma rabbit and the mouse came out pretty nice, as did a purple pot. I need to rethink my finishing techniques. Later. I’m too tired right now.

Stoopit clay.

<sigh>

It was so nice out this evening, after PT, I went to the park and sat and did puzzles for an hour and a half until the little bitey bugs came out in force

I just skimmed so I offer appropriate reactions all around
including a  and a :frowning: for Vbob’s thumb-cure and kitty-loss

Woo hoo! I just got a call for another interview tomorrow, around 10 am, for a completely different job. This sounds much more my speed. It starts on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Now if it would just cool off to about 10 degrees, and maybe rain a bit, so they can contain the Lick fire, near Lick Observatory, everything would be perfect. Luckily, it’s headed away from populated areas, but that could change. I have a friend who lives close to the fire and she says the smoke is heavy, but they aren’t in danger right now. Here’s a firefighter’s blog with pictures from the Mt. Hamilton web cam.

Evenin’ everyone.

Well, it’s probably all right that I missed work yesterday. It seems the power was out until nearly noon. What a waste of time for everyone.

Bobbio, glad to hear the alien removal went well. I’m sorry you had to bury another kitty though.

It seems our Safeway is trying to go a little market upscale. We now have a place where I can make my own peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter. Plus there’s an antipasta bar, and several other new things. I brought home a little tub of the peanut butter that I ground in the machine, just for a taste.

Today was the kids’ first day of school. Today was also the last day of firsts for K-12 education for my daughter. It seems sad and exciting all at the same time.

Nava, I’m really glad that MS seems to have been ruled out. My sister-in-law had it. She didn’t make it, but only because she didn’t follow doctor’s orders or take care of herself. It was a very sad time in our lives.

Mama Tigs, I just went “aaaawwwwww” when I saw Rusty’s picture. Poor, widdle puppy. I really hope he is feeling better. I admit, I did laugh when I read your post about him running into the walls. Our poor Cap’n did the same thing when he had him neutured. He refused to even look at the camera when he had that stupid cone on his head. You could tell he just felt like an idiot.

I guess I should start some chop-chop now.

Oooh! Good luck with the interview Jahdra.

More Chicago planning done. Need to go to sleep. Not sleepy, of course. I suspect I’ll be sleepy on the plane from Chicago to Columbus Friday morning.

I’ll bet it felt weird to send your daughter off to high school for the beginning of her last year there, Taters.

Excellent news about the interview, Jahdra! Good luck!

Lullabye, anyone?

GT

Mork!! Great to see you didn’t ditch us while you went on vacation. And it sounds like you’re having a fun time too. But I’m not up for the creepy stuff, so I’ll let you have at it.

So. . . how is the new iPod? I actually checked out your link, but since I don’t know what already exists, I didn’t follow it very well.

Welcome back,** bbs2k**!

Socks, why do you chug Gatorade? At least you won’t be dehydrated at the party, but is there some other reason?

rosie, sorry to hear about your friend.

Lili, hope the midwife meeting went well.
**
LOUNE**, congrats! You da Bad Man!
**
BBBobbio**, glad the operation went well.

Mamatigs, that’s one sad looking puppy. Those eyes don’t look so good.

Nava, glad to see you back and glad that you’re OK health-wise.
**
FCM**, when Brandy learns to read, you’ll be all set.

And bummer about the kiln explosion.

Jahdra, fingers crossed for the interview and job.

Another day flew right by me. I guess it’s good that they’re not dragging. But it’s another bedtime call. Good night and good morning everyone!

Dotty, here’s Your Song for the night by Elton John.

[Elton John]Its a little bit funny this feeling inside
Im not one of those who can easily hide
I dont have much money but boy if I did
Id buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show
I know its not much but its the best I can do
My gift is my song and this ones for you[/Elton John]

ETA:

Do you mind sharing with Dotty? It’s Your Song too.

Thanks for the awwws about Rusty. Poor baby, once the adrenalin jolt of getting to come HOME! HOME! HOME! wore off and the drugs kicked back i again, he crashed like a rock. The eyes look awful because when he gets really drugged up, he can’t quite keep his inner eyelids open. (You do know dogs have an extra inner eyelid, right?) And the inner lids are quite red, so it makes him look even more stoned than he is. Although right now he’s so comatose I’m not sure he’d notice if a bomb went off next to his head. Poor baby!

We’ll see how he’s doing in the morning. Man, I did NOT need to be scared like that by him this morning. He’s possibly the world’s most neurotic dog, but he’s also the world’s sweetest dog, bar none. It’s just heartbreaking when he doesn’t feel good, poor baby. :frowning: But hopefully he’ll wake up all perky and happy again, and we can take him in and get his conehead detached and catheter out, and he can go back to being his normal neurotic self. Even if we never do find out what was wrong with him, as long as it’s gone, that’s all I care about!

No worries about the dog dish, FCM – if it’s usable, I doubt Isaac will really care if it has a split in it. As I said, as long as it holds food, he really doesn’t care. I’m sorry things got a bit messed up, though – I’m sure you’ll get things cleaned up for the show, though, and no one will ever know the difference. I’ve only got two more things to block tomorrow, and then I’ll be all ready, too, except for tagging everything. It’ll be interesting to see if anything of mine sells – I really have no idea! I may ask for your input before I actually write prices on the tags since I’m kind of flying blind here myself in terms of pricing.

Yay for all the job interviews, Jahdra! I hope you land something you really enjoy, and if it’s good enough, that it turns permanent if it’s only a temp job. I know a lot of places these days bring people in as temps and then, if they’re a good fit, bring them on permanently; that’s how Papa Tigs used to hire all his people when he was a contractor.

I’m glad the bad stuff has been ruled out, Nava!

I remember what it was like the last time I sent a kid off to school. A very strange feeling – sad and yet liberating at the same time. Even more liberating was when the last one got out of school!

Your song just took me waaaay back, Roo. I remember sitting with friends listening to that on the jukebox…the three-songs-for-a-quarter jukebox. Am I dating myself enough? But it makes me remember all those musicians from my misspent youth. It sure was fun misspending it!

Anyway, I’m off to get a bit more done and then crawl in for a good night’s sleep.
Nighty-night, everyone!

Good Morning, all! or good night… whatever.

Drive by post…

On my to another day of helping out our Armed forces, so no internet for me today – Yays, Boos etc to everyone as appropriate.

And a special Good Night to Roo, as usual – even if you named every single mumper but meeeeee!!!111 in your own post!

I’m glad you had some good memories to re-live.

I couldn’t mention you. Mamatigs told us to be good, remember?

And now look what you made me do!

Have a fun time today. Don’t get shot by a computer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just to do it, really.

That’s right…as he should be…

Morning, all. I forced myself out of bed earlier than normal since I have to take Rusty the Conehead in to get his conectomy in an hour. Stoopid dog, he’s still utterly incapable of walking around without crashing into things. We laughed ourselves sick at his antics last night! Which may not be nice of us, but man, it was hilarious!

Other than that, I’ve just got a busy day getting work done, getting my hair done, and getting the last couple of things for the craft show blocked. So I need to continue caffeinating so I can get this show on the road. Ta ta, all!

Morning, y’all. Caffeination is complete. I looked like an effete snob, drinking my coffee with my right pinkie sticking out.

My finger, surprisingly, doesn’t hurt much unless I do something stupid like bending it.

I’m praying for the storm off Bermuda to become a hurricane and hit us, because we need the rain. The excitement of it hitting is a bonus

Otherwise, I got nuttin’.
