Hey nash!–I’m in library school, too! And I just quit the library–I couldn’t make it work with my other work schedule and for $7/hr, it wasn’t worth my time.
I want to do adult reader’s advisory or ref. How about you?
::Joins **Haze **under the hose::
::Cloud cover (from the steam) completely covers what may (or may not) go on behind it… ::
**Swampy **-- I never touched your suit. Honest. I just gave **LOUNE **the idea!
Hope y’all like the falafel and stuff I brought. And some Israeli beer – especially for **Sean **
::Helps self to a bonbon, straight from FCM’s stash::
Morning, all. I’m still trying to recover from the pool canoe races. What, nobody else remembers them? Swampy cheated and tried to sink FCM, but while they were trying to grab each other’s paddles, Taters snuck in and won. Good job, Taters, hope you didn’t leave your First Annual MMP Pool Canoe Races trophy behind!
I’m up and caffeinating and lazying. Is “lazying” a verb? If it isn’t, it should be! It’s another beyooootiful day, so I’m sitting here enjoying the lovely light breeze and the fresh cool air. Man, it couldn’t be a prettier Labor Day weekend around here if it tried!
As of yesterday, snowbunny’s fire was 89% contained, and they’re anticipating 100% containment today! Woo and hoo! Of course, while it’s good that they’re containing the fire, that means that all the hawt firefighters will start leaving. I’m sure there’s lots of folks in Ketchum, especially of the female variety, who are sad to see that happen. I certainly would be – hawt firefighter scenery is the best!
Rusty the idiot golden retriever outdid himself this morning. Papa Tigs took the dogs on an errand run, and on the way home Rusty just sat in the front passenger seat and looked at him. When he got home and called the dogs to get out of the car, Rusty didn’t move – turns out he couldn’t, he’d managed to get his leash wrapped around the center armrests of both front seats and both of his rear legs! Stoopid dog!
Have a good lazy day, everyone who can, and for those who have to work, thanks for putting in your day so the rest of us can enjoy it off. I’m off to knit some more. And do some blocking of a few things for next weekend. If I don’t start blocking soon, I may not have everything ready in time!
Whew! That was *some * party! I’m damn surprised I won the canoe race because Mr. Taters was making me do all the paddling. He was lying in the canoe, downing yet another beer and eating all the chicken. He claimed his hands were too full to paddle. Whapping him with the pool noodle things had no effect either.
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR PUGSY!!!
We’re supposed to go out to breakfast at 10:00 this morning. I’m not sure we’ll make it, but we’ll see. We attended a 99 party and lost money, but had tons of fun. Mr. Taters was totally wiped out. He spent all day wakeboarding and playing in the sun and water, and didn’t get home until 5:40. The party was at 7:00. Truth to tell, the host was tired as well.
We ended up going home around 11:00 because Mr. Taters was just too tired to keep his eyes open anymore.
Other than the breakfast thing, I don’t have any plans today. Just hanging out here, some laundry, etc. That’s about it.
Happy Birthday Pugsy!!
I have to learn to remember when a long weekend’s extra day is a Monday. I started catching up on last night’s goings on and was cut off at 1 something AM.
Then I realized that my memory must have gone bad from the revelry at the party.
Anyone seen my swim trunks?
I don’t know why it is, but I always get you and gt mixed up in my mind - even tho I know you’re not at all alike, other than being girly-type mumpers.
Maybe we didn’t notice because you were sneaking around in the shrubbery taking misleading photos?? And I wasn’t doing what you thought I was doing when you took that series of pics. I demand a recount!!!
Are you sure she was in the sneaking around in the shrubbery to take photos? And are you **sure **there wasn’t anybody else in the shrubbery at the same time?
Just askin’ is all… ::whistles::
Hmmmm, I thought Jah’s party hat looked kinda, um, unconventional…
**WOW!! **
I am speechless! GT, you made my whole day. That was some party. You guys are the bestestsess!! I think I’m gonna cry. ::sniff::
I promise some pics of the pool soon. The RL party was not nearly as fun as the one here but nice anyway.
I hope everyone has a lovely day off. Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I’m gonna go loll on one of my four new rafts. Hee, hee!
Happy Belated Birthday, Puggy!
Has anyone seen my skates? And why is there chocolate in my hair? Great party!
Hands MBG a pair of swim trunks and looks innocent
No excitement here - tomorrow I start a new cat sitting job but there’s nothing going on today. Mr. SCL is working as usual. One of the nurses and one of the CNAs on the case have quit, so Mr. SCL will be getting overtime until they hire someone else. Then his hours will probably get cut. They don’t want to pay him overtime - he’s expensive - and I can’t imagine they are going to be able to find an RN to work one day a week. We’ll see what happens.
I’m glad to hear the fire is mostly contained, hope it happens soon. Yah for hawt firefighters! I dated a park ranger/firefighter while I was in grad school; he was probably out there - and he definitely qualified as hawt!
Time to clean the litterboxes. Envy me.
Lunch break is done. Back to work for me.
Incidentally, I found 3 extra pool noodles in my car - if you’re missing one, you’ll just hafta come visit me to get it. Otherwise, I’ll start weaving a pool noodle tapestry.
This is odd. I’ve never had to not work on Labor Day. I woke up early…almost went to the office…
Still might.
Yay! I was hoping the birthday girl would make it in here today! Glad you liked it. Amazing how much fun virtual parties can be.
LiLi, I am shocked (simply shocked!) that you would share such pictures with the whole wide world!
::Points hose in general direction of everyone in this thread and then sneaks away.::
Back from the arts festival. It was fun, but hot.
Checked out ceramics - they have lots, in a variety of styles. Cheapest items in general were about $16 again. I saw a couple of booths that had very small things (little vases, in one case) for $4 apiece.
Also saw a couple of neat ideas. One of them was a series of chip & dip sets. The plates were shaped like an animal body and the dip bowl was shaped like the animal’s head. I also liked this lady’s stuff, although I don’t see much of what she had at the festival online. (She didn’t have switchplates at the festival, but I like several of the ones she has online.) There was also one artist who used a metallic glaze, which looked spectacular. Didn’t see any knitters, although there was one booth that sold felted hats in addition to quilted and tailored jackets.
There were some really good photographers and several glass artists that I liked.
Labor Day is for NOT working, LOUNE. Although I can imagine it would be odd if you’d never had that day off.
I’ve had a grilled cheese/BLT and am now ready for my nap.
Back after a while…
GT
aaaahh Pink Flamingoes…Happy B’day Pugs !
Anyways up, caffienating and lazying also. Trying to decide to if I want to drive 2 hours to go to the beach or not or just stay home and laze around or tackle the bathroom.
Slow cooked chili was The Yum last night over a baked sweet potato.
New kitty woke me up at 6AM biting my toes…she slept with me all last night then decided she wanted have her mad half hour at 6AM now she is taking a nap.
Think I will make breakfast then decide what to do - anyone for hashbrowns, eggs and bacon?
I am erring towards attackign the bathroom but we shall see
Happy Extra Day Off Work all you in USA’ers!
I originally was going to go into museum studies from a curatorial/archives POV, but am undecided as a library student. I’m going to try to get some more experience in a few different areas, but I’m going to focus on academic libraries. (This is based on advice from a few librarian friends I know that tell me it’s easier for an academic librarian to get a job in a public library than a public librarian to get a job in an academic one.) Around here, Orange County’s libraries actually pay shelving clerks more per hour than I currently make by a dollar and six cents-- but you have to know someone to get in the system. Osceola County just doesn’t have much in the way of openings because of their ties to the county budget and the hiring freezes for “non-essential” governmental jobs all over Florida. My current goal with volunteering (and completing “in the field” homework assignments) is to make myself known to both county systems that I am in/near to so they at least see my face and acknowledge that I am a library student and am worth hiring.
There’s a storytelling elective class available through my school that I might take for fun; who wouldn’t want to improve their bardic skills?
SCL, I hear cat sitting can be pretty tough-- how do you get them to keep still and stop clawing and yowling?
I, er, found these. :waves a pair of damp swim trunks: Great party, puggy! I hope you had a good time on your birthday, despite the streakers, who shall remain unnamed.
The bedroom was definitely cooler this morning than yesterday. It was actually 72F, a nice change from the 85F it’s been all week. I need to go to the grocery store, but I think I’ll wait until tomorrow. I’m sure the hordes have already wiped the store out. I checked out my Finnish pal’s blog, mostly to look at the pretty pictures. She translates some of it into English, but I’m fairly certain that 3 paragraphs in Finnish are not equivalent to one sentence in English.
And I’m just about done. Everything has a coat of glaze or underglaze. I have to touch up the bat pendants, then finish the clear glaze on 7 pieces plus the medallions.
I figure I’ll fire tomorrow night. Then the packing and pricing has to get done.
It durn well better not rain on Saturday!!!
Um, Puggy, if you find several soggy feather boas in the bushes, you might want to just throw them out. I’m sure you saw what the all-male mumper Speedo chorus line was doing with them.
lazying around won out…I have done nothing today other than watch the Dirty Jobs marathon on Discovery.
I am going to go and measure my bathroom and research tile colours and a new vanity and then clean the kitchen I suppose.
Happy Birthday, Pugs!!
Ack, insanity = life. Hopefully I’ll have internet at home by next week.
GT, the hat comes off when the flirting succeeds. As you reported, it stayed on.
Swamps, I didn’t tug on your drawers. I will admit to goosing both you and Rosie, and just about everyone else, though…
Since the f*cking camera has been found, a small handfull of shots. The baby alien I’m having removed Wednesday.
Squeeeee alert: Introducing Ralph E., the foster who never left, and living proof that VWife can’t count past 2. That’s the tail limit for any furry species in the house; Booger and Audrey are still around.
More squeeage: The newest fosters. These are the 4 survivors so far, 2 others have died since they came last Monday.
