Ten Things That Happen When Welbywife Leaves Town

  1. Welby buys several pounds of filet mignon for “Man Night”.
  2. The kids discover that, on man night, they’ll be required to stay at thier aunt and uncle’s house.
  3. A phone call confirming a keg on order is received.
  4. An e-mail goes out about the poker tournament ay my place.
  5. Welby wanders around the house saying things like “Have you seen the [insert any item]? Where did she put it?”
  6. The dog gets happy about the increase in his meal quality, because momma NEVER gives him steak.
  7. A large amount of money is spent on junk food for poker day.
  8. Welby sleeps past 7:30 every weekend day.
  9. Long, folding tables disappear from work the day before the poker tournament.
  10. There is grumbling from the brood about having to walk the dog.

There you have it!

Things I Have Accomplished Lately

  1. Restarting lunchtime yoga classes at work two days a week.
  2. Dropping 15 pounds and fitting into (most of) my old clothes
  3. Cooking delicious and healthy dinners ands nacks so that my husband has dropped five pounds (with no exercise … yet. Get busy, hub)
  4. Writing a terrific speech for our CEO which he probably won’t deliver (but he SHOULD)
  5. Managing not to roll my eyes when my daughter told me she’d decided to cut her hair (which I have been advocating for the last X years)

That’s all I can come up with. My life is pretty boring when reduced to list form.

Stuff I have to do this week that I don’t want to:

  1. Get my hair cut.
  2. Take three cats to the vet for shots and check ups.
  3. Go to the dentist on Wednesday.
  4. probably go BACK to the dentist on Friday.
    Have a good week all.

Things Maggie Wonderbeagle has eaten/destroyed:

  1. an ottoman
  2. a Mountain Dew can
  3. multiple Christmas ornaments
  4. a watch
  5. eyeglasses
  6. 2 Bibles
  7. extension cord(She got a charge out of it)
  8. the contests of a litter box
  9. 100 stuffed animals
  10. empty frozen pizza box

Signs you are a serious hockey fan

  1. Everything you own is festooned with team logos
  2. The guy at the beerverage cart asks you “The usual?”
  3. Visiting team fans mistake you for arena staff.
  4. You name your pets after the players on your team. And the pet and player have met.

1 And hail. Hail! In freakin’ March!
2 Still agog at hail…
3 Eh, check back later…(Hail!)
4 (Edit - Odd, my time is still off and I should have my settings right.)

It won’t…

  1. Pick up cat toys.
  2. Commit suicide down the stairs. (Which is cool)
  3. Scare the cats. (Surprisingly)
  4. Nag me to take out the garbage.
  5. Let me ride it.
  6. Do laundry.
  7. Hurt my bare feet when it bumps me.
  8. Do windows.
  9. Empty itself.
  10. Cook.

But it seems to work quite well so far. (I just got it yesterday)

Anybody have any good suggestions for a Roomba name?

Have a great day folks!
.

There’s a hockey player named Maggie?? Or is the player named Lucretia?

Things I did this weekend:

  1. Went to the zoo! Yay spring! It was warm and sunny and lots of fun.
  2. Ate good Mexican food. Yum!
  3. Skipped church. Too tired. I’m a bad person.
  4. Baked cookies. More yum!
  5. Had KeithT’s homemade Greek food for dinner. Extra yum!
  6. Did work. Yuck. Especially since it involved chasing down data that should have been readily available but wasn’t. Grrr.
  7. Thought more about buying a hamster. Aw! Cute! I want one!
  8. Thought more about buying a condo. Nope. Bad idea right now. The apartment we’re in looks better and better.

  1. Achren
  2. LifeOnWry
  3. Kotick
  4. Kalhoun
  5. picunurse

Glad you dropped in! Stay a while, put your feet up, unless they smell. :stuck_out_tongue:

A list of assorted things:
[ul]
[li]This year, the best thing about the local renaissance festival was the Mud Show. Beowulf performed in a mud pit + puns + visual gags = hillarious[/li][li]Also at the renaissance festival, the theme for that week was “Irish week”. This meant that there were a handful of leprechauns wandering about.[/li][li]Speaking of leprechauns: one of the actor-leprechauns “hit on me” from on top of the wall as I was walking through the entrance of the faire. “My lady, for your own safety, would you kindly walk very, very slowly through the entrance?” ::laughs:: It never gets old. [/li][li]I read three books this weekend. [/li][li]I have about three months until I move in with my fiance.[/li][li]No matter how well I clean my clothes and bedding, there will still be dog hairs from the dog who doesn’t live with me. I am continually amazed at how well her fur sticks to everything. (The dog belongs to me and my fiance, but lives with him currently.)[/li][li]Since I mentioned the dog, here are some photos. Her favorite toy is a stuffed ghost.[/li][li]I’ve been very tempted to get a haircut that isn’t flattering. I know that I would look bad with hair that short right now, but it is tempting nonetheless. I think the hot weather is what’s tempting me.[/li][/ul]

USO, for Unidentified Sweeping Object. A friend of mine calls his the OBNI, Objeto Barriente No Identificado (OVNI, Objeto Volante No Identificado, is UFO). His bro was in the Yu Es of Ei working last year, got one for his apartment and came home with what looked like half a crate for close relatives. Barriente isn’t really a word in the dictionary but it sounds more like volante than barredor does.

I’m supposed to spend next weekend in Lucerne with a Foodies Sect That’s Officially Something Else but can’t promise I’d have time to upload pics by Monday. I do hope to have pics, I’ve signed up for a town visit and a castle. So, list of questions:

  1. Do we have anybody for two mondays from now?
  2. That’s, uh… I can’t count… the 26th?
  3. Why does this place not have calendars?
  4. Why does this company not have the templates for word calendars?
  5. Is it OK to use some normal paragraphs so long as we have a list?

Replies to posters:

  1. Meek, I named my Roomba after Rod Brind’Amour
  2. taxi, I got my zoo before the Hurricanes came to town. There is a Lab named Commodore.
  3. SCL, we had a bunch of kids in FireAntz jerseys at one game.
  4. swampy, stop yelling at poor BooFae!!!

Things I like about Mondays:
[ol]
[li]It’s a full day, so I get paid more[/li][li]Traffic is lighter[/li][li]The cute $tarbucks guy is working the morning shift[/li][li]The phones are busier[/li][/ol]
Things I hate about Mondays:[ol]
[li]The phones are busier with stupid New Yorkers complaining about not knowing how to place orders online and why aren’t we open 24/7 so they can place their stupid $5 orders and then complain that the shipping costs more than the actual products and why don’t we give them a discount because they place $30 worth of orders at least once every 4 years and what color is the blue tissue and…kill me now?[/li][li]I have to work[/li][li]The kids never want to get out of bed…neither do I[/li][li]Everyone wants to know why my face is all bashed up – the old women with whom I work do not know what a mosh pit is[/li][li]It’s Monday[/li][/ol]

My pun, which coincidentally is a truth:
My ex used to be a baker, he needed the dough

Good choice!!! It’ll work hard, go into the corners and handle any rough stuff in it’s way.

I’d name mine Ryan Smyth, but we traded him to the dang Islanders and the Oilers haven’t won a game since. [sub]sniff**sob[/sub] So close last year - and now not even in the playoffs.

I liked the USO idea… hmmmm maybe I’ll call it this.

Thanks dogbutler and I’m pulling for the Canes to make it in. Good luck. (And GO HEELS!)

[sup] We now resume regular programming…[/sup]
.

When I think of Roombas I think of this comic strip.
nashiitashii, I agree about haircuts. There’s something about spring/summer than makes the little voice in my head speak up consistently, even though I know I can’t do short hair. Silly voice.

Things I Did Last Week When I Should Have Been Posting To the MMP:

  1. Made coffee.
  2. Ran errands for a still-sick Roomie.
  3. Took aforementioned Roomie to the doctor.
  4. Watched seven complete full-season box sets while helping Roomie convalesce. (We went on a total CSI kick. Don’t ask. And I’m about ready to kill Roomie because I suddenly really care about Veronica Mars’ life. But hey–by halfway through the first season I had everything right except the actual identity of the killer. I sure knew who it wasn’t, though. :))
  5. Napped.

Things I Have To Do Today:

  1. Job hunt.
  2. Pay phone bill.
  3. Renew car registration.
  4. Catch up on the MMP.
  5. Take Roomie to the doctor again.
  6. Buy garbage bags and cat litter.
  7. Call the HR department at my old job and tell them for the third time that I would like some sort of proof that they have, in fact, enrolled me in COBRA and I’m not just sending them a check every month for no reason.

Morning, all. Barely. Lists? Okay, let’s see, what have I got for a list? Oh, okay, things that are happening with my new knee:

  1. Two nights in a row now, I’ve been able to sleep all night without pain or extra drugs.
  2. I can walk almost normally now.
  3. I’ve switched to a cane around the house because the crutches are annoyingly clunky and I can walk just fine without them.
  4. I can sit down and stand up without having to hang onto something/push off something.
  5. My knee is still stiff but doesn’t feel like it’s going to collapse under me the way my old knee felt for the last, oh, two years or so.
  6. I’m gonna have a great scar when I’m all done!
  7. I’ll also set off metal detectors for the rest of my life. :frowning:
  8. I’ve had a great excuse to lie around and do nothing but knit for two weeks now.
  9. The dogs haven’t bumped me in the knee once yet, which is nothing short of miraculous.
  10. It no longer hurts All. The. Time.

Off to caffeinate some more!

Things I Should Have Done Yesterday -

  1. Finish my Gender/Modernity in Colonial Korea final paper.
  2. Begin my Asian Americans and the Legacies of War final paper.
  3. Pay my bills.
  4. Clean the bathroom.
  5. Go over to my friend’s house and watch Rome.

Things I Actually Did Yesterday

  1. Listened to the new Wilco album online (which is great, by the way).
  2. Almost finished my Colonial Korea paper.
  3. Had pizza with Scottish Darling.
  4. Talked with friend on the phone for an hour.
  5. Went to bed relatively early.

Things To Do Today

  1. Pay bills.
  2. Finish Colonial Korea paper.
  3. Being AsAm and Legacies of War paper.
  4. Go to friend’s birthday party.
  5. Clean bathroom.

God only knows how much I’ll actually get done.

Messages for fellow MMPers

  1. Boofae, sounds like a fun night! Consecutive bottles of champagne always seem like a good idea at the time.
  2. Drae, I feel like we haven’t seen you in awhile! We missed you!
  3. MamaTigs, glad to hear your leg is getting better.

General hugs all around. Wish me luck on my paper!

Good afternoon, all! I actually got a chance to check in with the MMP before Tuesday! Of course I’m not sure if I’ll be back, but I’ll try. Remember, y’all* did say I could come in without following everyone’s stories. Cause I may not be able to.

Top 3 Things my boss did last week:

  1. Nothing.
  2. Nothing.
  3. More nothing,

Ok, not a very good list.

Grocery list (stuff we forgot on Friday’s trip):

  1. Buttermilk. Actually, we didn’t forget this. We ran out. I got my SO into drinking this, watered down with seltzer, and we went through two jugs. I know it sounds gross, and you should have seen the SO - he’d take a sip, make a face, then take another, He hated it but he loved it.
  2. Paper plates.
  3. Light bulbs.

I trust that’s enough listing for the moment? If I come up with anymore I’ll let you know.

Busy, busy, busy! More later - hopefully.

Right now, my hair is pretty, but I’m getting tired of having layered hair. It has the worst of both worlds going on right now, as I can’t braid my hair without bits poking out, and if it gets too hot, it has to be pulled back or piled on top of my head to be effective. Even better is when I don’t put the ponytail high enough, because then I get hairs that fall out and pat-pat my face all day. Gah!
