A little wager (& some trash talk) in the MMP

Move to the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania. A lot of the people there still consider anything under an inch an hour flurries. Also add chips and salsa to round out your diet during the coming maelstrom.

I couldn’t care less about ‘professional’ sports, although back in the before time my friends and I used to get up an expedition and go to the Blazers games. That was back when mere mortals could afford to do that sort of thing. Theses days: Meh.

I like subs, hoagies, heros, whatever ya calls em. We have two Subways in our town. Subway used to be pretty good but they’ve lost their mojo in the last few years. We did enjoy their Rueben sammichs last month though.
We used to have a Poagies here too, but ours just went out of business. They had good sammies, but their store was hidden away in a business park and people forgot about them. :o
We had a Quisnos for a while. I never could figure out how they stayed in business. Apparently they couldn’t either.
I’ve had Jimmie Johns. They’re so-so.
The best subs around here are Firehouse subs. There’s one about 20 miles away. Iffen they were closer I’d eat there occasionally.
There used to be a sub shop near the University in Eugene called Biggie’s Sub City. They were great. They had over 50 different kinds of HUGE sammies. My favorite was ham and pineapple with B-B-Q sauce. (Don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it.)

The big excitement for me today will be paying bills and buying dog food. Oh, and I have to take the movie back. We watched Jackie Chan in ‘The Foreigner’ last night. It was pretty okay. Not as frenetic as Jackie used to be. He’s getting old. Also, not a lot of laughs.

My first wife had a cat that was a real PITA. I carried a squirt bottle around with me everywhere. I could hit that cat in the head from 25’, from the hip.

Later

Swampy I’d say you need ice cream, just to be safe. If it were me, I’d need coffee too. Some things are just too important to do without.

Bumba now I have the Clint Eastwood music stuck in my head.

'Beamer burst into the room at 4 am this morning (using his famous “Kramer” entrance) and loudly proclaimed, “Turn on the internet.” My husband screamed, “Go back to bed!” Child left. So that’s how my day started. I feel all drama-ed out for the day. Have I ever mentioned that my family is a bit like “Calvin and Hobbes”?

Funny how stuff works out usually. One of my newer hires is unhappy and unable to get along with my older clerk. I have really been stressing over this. I have orally admonished her. It is a huge process to fire someone. I called her into my office just to chitchat and she offered up her resignation. I wanted to jump for joy but instead played it cool. I told her to think about it. But, if she does want to go sayonara. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

But what about the Noodle Incident? https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-534d066342fac4e2f3ddebafc99e840b-c

(I love Calvin and Hobbes)

Bumba, my all-time favorite sammich shop is Potbelly’s, they don’t have them in Ali-bama yet, but those be good stuff.

Did go outside and drove around for a bit, if for no other reason to establish my snow-driving credentials for another year. Main roads weren’t bad, but side roads were icy in spots and I made sure not to try any hills. And that’s enough adventure for me today. traffic is maybe 20% of normal and at least 10 MPH under the speed limit (and 25mph under normal conditions).

Butters, hope things work out to your advantage. One reason I never wanted to go farther than GS-13 was that would put me in a supervisory role and I didn’t need the heartburn.

Evenin’ all.

The lesson learned today was ‘check your damn diary before arranging to do stuff’. I currently have no lessons on Tuesday afternoons, so I’d arranged to go to the micropropogation unit at another branch of the college for the afternoon. I can do some of the routine stuff which helps out the lady who runs it, and helps me as it’s interesting (and honestly something I could see myself getting into properly), and we’re gonna be doing a little bit of it as part of a project next year, so I get a head start, and get 1 on 1 teaching from one of the very few people in the country who do it as a job, rather than as part of a class of 20.

Unfortunately, after arranging that, I checked my timetable, and discovered that an evening event I’d agreed to work at that I thought was next Tuesday was actually today, and it’s right next to my branch of the college. The two branches are an hour apart, so today was just non-stop doing things and driving. Just got home now, at nearly 9.

Just to add insult to injury, I’m working another event tomorrow that’s near to the other college branch I was at today… (In St Ives, I shall look out for polygamists bearing felines). And I missed the beekeeping group, which was also tonight. I’ve had almost nothing happening in the evenings for weeks.

We’ve been getting hail all day again, thick enough to leave small drifts. What stuff should one purchase when hail is threatened?

Brrrrrrr! doggio. I feel your pain. May you have hot water soon.

metal mouse, one of the worst snow events I’ve ever driven through was coming through Huntsville after being in Florida over Christmas one year. Snow out the yaya, no plows and nobody who could drive on the stuff.

swampy, the Pubic Sto’s in my town have discontinued geezer day in favor of better BOGOs. Given that I am ineligible for the geezer discount at the time, I’ll take the BOGOs. Kroger still has geezer day though.

They cut us out at one today. It’s a whopping 17F and falling with a couple of inches of snow. Nelson was a hoot bouncing around in it. If I didn’t have to control a leash, I would have videoed it. Y’all stay warm.

I think the regular French Toast makings and terlet paper work for hail too.

Home from the grocery store, most everything put away, and lunch has been eaten.

It started snowing right before we left and it’s still coming down. I doubt it will amount to much.

I wish I had your aim Bumba
However the cat recognizes both squirt bottles and squirt guns and usually takes off before I can use either.

Aren’t puppies in the snow fun,** Red**? I’m looking forward to a nice snow so I can watch Ripple playing in it.
It it’s gonna snow it should at least do enough to make it a little fun.

OYKW is on his way back from Etlanner. TPTB decided to cancel the rest of this week’s meetin’ due to the fact that the roads in Etlanner will get icy and make everyone go all cray cray. He was not amused when he called to tell me. Anywho, I shall still be sans adult supervision tonight cause he’s goin’ to his place which is closer to his irkplace just in case the roads around here do get a little icy overnight. I think that is a wise decision. I had a bowl of 'mater soup, a grilled cheese sammich and a glass of milk for suppage. My inner seven year old is happy.

Nuts I believe a tarp is the proper thing to buy for hail. Maybe a steel helmet.

ETA: I went to the sto’. I bought ice cream and other stuff. All prepared am I!

The entire OP was aimed at you; yet you didn’t include what you wanted in wager. :dubious:

I think Swampy wants to be SWATed.

Iffn you substitute Bailey’s for milk, then French toast becomes Irish toast. Mmmmm.

When in doubt, buy booze. Even when not in doubt, buy booze.

You didn’t have ice cream? That’s as bad as runnin’ outta TP!
Speaking of which, I was out on the bike trail yestidy when I had to use the loo; didja know the blue liquid in the bottom of a Porty-John ain’t anti-freeze.

Long day. We met with an accountant after I got off work, and we didn’t get home till nearly 6. Supper was mac-n-cheese-n-peas. Ice cream later.

We shouldn’t get any appreciable snow here overnight. Theoretically. We shall see.

It’s been one of *those *days. Glad I can chill now.

Ice cream and the beverage of your choice. Possibly chocolate.

Spidey I already had ice cream. I bought additional emergency ice cream. :stuck_out_tongue: OYKW is back and at his place. Local skools are closed tomorrow. I don’t think it will get as bad as anticipated but better safe than sorry I reckon. We might see some snow flurries tomorrow mornin’. I shall be happy to watch whilst sippin’ coffee in my nice, warm cave.

Swampy. Don’t you make a pineapple casserole?

Day got better after the ice water sponge bath. But I got a new water heater that could cook a lobster on “medium”. Waiting on Snowpocalypse 2.0

You own Alex Catt’s twin.

Glorious hot water.

Sure seemed rather Monday today.

Why did I sign up for OT tomorrow? Right, because I need the money and want bosses happy with someone who’s willing to pitch in for what promises to be a challenging day. The TX-based center for my department is most likely out tomorrow due to weather. This leaves CA and TN centers. Fortunately, mine is apparently the largest of the three.

That’s been solved :D.

78 degrees at 7:12pm. Time for a nice stroll outside. We routinely take the neighbor’s dog for a walk. Cute little girl, a beagle-Jack Russell terrier mix. Looks like she could be Snoopy’s granddaughter.

Rarely do I bet given my natural impulse to cheat (never play poker with me - I studied under a magician) but I would say I would put up $10,000,000.00

Zimbabwe of course
