A Melancholy MMP

Because of her lupus and the forest fires, VWife has been using an Albuterol inhaler for the past couple of weeks. We only got to Code Orange, but that was enough for me to think she might have been having a heart attack.

When the doctor diagnosed her lung problems, her oxygen saturation was 88%; normal is greater than 95%. 88% is some serius hypoxia…

Is Nat already seven months? Damn. I feel old. :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, I’m going to bed. Really.

SmartyPants - I’m taking Zinc supplements in addition to my usual One-a-Day tablet, and Halls Centers for the soothing part. (Well, relatively speaking; I’ve never liked the flavour, but they do have some moderately soothing properties at least.) I could so hit a Pho joint right now though. I once had a hot & sour “fondue” (really just a big tureen of broth you added your own fresh ingredients to and cooked right at your table, then just dished out like soup) at a Pho joint that was totally awesome. Unfortunately I’m stuck at work. I’m having chili doused with Tabasco though. Chili is always good for my soul. Tabasco is good for my throat.

Herbs - Wow, you guys get free bus rides on bad air days? I wish we had that here. Not that I’d want to go out on days like that, but I’ll bet we’d have had a few of those already these last few weeks.

McUne - She’s adorable!

Mahna[sup]2[/sup] - I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow. The wife and I want to go see Journey to the Center of the Earth, but we want to try and make it out to one of the only two theaters that are showing it in 3D. Apparently the one at Hwy. 7/Hwy. 400 is one of them, which is kinda cool, 'cos when we can do the movie and then maybe go to Dave & Buster’s for some fun afterwards.

Alright, the troops need reinforcements. Time to pop another lozenge…

Nat’s six months on Tuesday. Born on the 15th. We’ve started him on solids, but he’s not very enthusiastic, and I plan to breastfeed while gradually weaning for at least six more months. Recommended by the International Pediatric Society or something. Anyway, it’s the only way he falls asleep right now, and I am not giving it up.

Also, just after we started him on solids he got the mysterious bowel problem and it was recommended to just breastfeed because that’s the easiest to digest.

Besides, I don’t want to lose my weight-loss plan!

McUNE, I’m using Photoshop CS2 at the moment. You can just give me a broad-strokes description, if you like… I’ve played enough with it to feel relatively comfortable with the functions.

(The Boy could probably tell me in about 2 seconds what you did, seeing as that’s what he does for a living and all, but I get all annoyed when he tries to teach me stuff because my learning style and his teaching style are totally incompatible).

Haze, if you think you feel old… just consider that LiLi and I went to high school together. Ack. I’m still having trouble getting used to the fact that most of my former classmates are now parents (some of whom are up to 2 or 3 kidlets… gulp). Ditto for a couple of my ex-BFs.

You don’t have to justify what you’re doing to me Li-Li, I was just trying to offer a solution. You know what’s best for little Nat.

Hm, re: the mysterious bowel problem: Was it rice cereal?

Here we go Muppet, just remember these are PSE instructions, but should be very similar to CS2

Basically what I do to brighten colors is create a duplicate layer (ctr+j)
Change the lighting to usually soft light or hard light
Adjust the opacity as needed (typically for me I bring it down to 60-80%)
I adjust the lighting *Under Enhance, Adjust Lighting) Mess with the brightness/contrast, and levels. Every now and then I use the shadows/highlights option as well.

I also have a couple free color popping actions that I occassionally use, but I like the results when I do it on my own better.

Let me know if something doesn’t make sense. I’m very self-taught with PSE, so not an expert by any means.

I’ve really gotten into doing the post processing stuff on some of my pictures and I love it. I so wish I had the full version of Photoshop at home. I’m envious.

Just a drive-by. We are going to be gone all weekend. Tonight we are going to the dance museum in Saratoga, and then I have tickets to the NYC Ballet, performing at the Saratoga PAC. Then, tomorrow, we trek downstate to his folks’ home. We come back from there Sunday evening.

Busy weekend!

I think it was a combo rice cereal and starting to really react to dairy. Right now he’s eating sweet potatoes and avocado. Sorry, wasn’t trying to justify so much as explain.
I personally cannot stand the idea that there are people who can vote who were born in 1990.

Aagh.

Hell, I can’t stand the fact that people born in 1965 can vote.

Howdy Y’all! I’m all through work for the week. YAY!!! To celebrate I’m drinkin’ some iced tea/lemonade out of my Bubba Keg. I lurves the two mixed together. I may even go out to the pool just cause. It’s nice and warm and sunny out but not too hot for around here anyways. Matter of fact there’s a little breeze blowin’.

MCUNE da niece is a cutie!

Maybe a wetsuit and flippers would be informal attire for a Washington beach.

tell me about it - I just ran into a former coworker (she’s still with the company but long since out of my department) who was fresh out of high school when she started here in '94 and I had trouble with her being able to vote.

Yeah, the nephew who’s getting married tomorrow was five years old when I met him. He’s in his late 20s now. I feel old, because in mind’s eye, he’s still this little boy.

**Li-Li, ** my daughter had problems with rice cereal in the beginning too. Unfortunately, I can’t remember what I did to fix the problem. As I didn’t breastfeed, I can’t offer you any advice there. I know that had to switch formulas several times because her stomach was so sensitive. When I finally put her on Carnation Good Start, all the problems disappeared. At the time, they only made formula for older babies (6 months or above).

I guess I should get in the shower now.

I nursed both my kids until they were two- and I found what I ate (especially before they started solids) really affected them. Milk and cabbage family had to go!

But the breastfeeding, for our family, was worth it, so I put up with that inconvenience!

So… I just made an appointment to get contacts! I haven’t worm them since before my youngest was born. I am actually fairly psyched about this. I want cool sunglasses!

me →

Semi-drive-by…

**FCM **-- sorry youre blue :frowning: And I’m sure **FCD **will get an even better job a bit farther down the road.
The glurge you’ve been discussing? My usual reaction to these things (and in this case as well, so I don’t even really know what you’re all on about) is – TLDR.

Meeks, Haze, and the other drivers by… hi!

**Ivory **-- looks like you need some sun-screen to go along with those cool sunglasses! :stuck_out_tongue:

:waves in the general direction of everyone else:

Yawn. I’m so tired. I’ve been late to work every single day this week. So embarassing, especially since we have to log everything to the minute now. They got hammered in a labor suit, and we are the lucky beneficiaries. If it has to be to the minute, I don’t see why they don’t just have us punch a clock. Am I showing my age if I say that I miss the satisfying “chunk” of a time clock?

Mindy, there’s a vegetarian restaurant near my office that serves a kick-ass sweet & sour soup. It’s good for what ails ya. I’ll send you some through the DVD slot.

I’ve lost about 15 pounds since January, which gives me hope that it will stay off, since I’ve just made small adjustments and don’t feel like I’m on a “diet”. I need to get my labs done soon and I’m hoping the weight loss has helped my numbers go down. I really, really don’t want to have to have a liver biopsy.

Happy Walnutday!

(I don’t care much for fir, it’s a boring wood!) Besides that, I’m building a picture frame from walnut. It’s all assembled - just needs to be sanded and finished.

My commute was very similar to swampy’s, except for a well-behaqved kitchen rug. Not much to do today. Maybe I’ll be lucky and they’ll tell me to go home early. Err, wait. I already am home. Maybe they’ll tell me to go go shopping. Yeah, that’s it…

Around here, we don’t have “Code Red” days - just “Spare the Air” (And yes, we also have StA days in winter - people can really soot up the air with fireplaces) We used to have free mass transit on StA days, but they’ve cut that out for budget reasons.

We’re off in a couple of minutes! Probably won’t be back online until Sunday. Smooches all round!

Have a safe trip,** Li-Li.** I hope the baby sleeps well.

**Mork, ** here’s hoping the battle you’re waging on the little germy invaders brings you victory, and soon!

My husband called and I told him that I had made the room reservations for tomorrow. When I told him how much the room cost, he wasn’t very happy. Unfortunately, he really doesn’t know that’s about the average cost of a room anymore. I mean, if you can get a decent room for around $100.00 bucks, you’re doing well. Besides, this little town is a resort area, so the room rates are going to be a little higher.

I’m hoping that they’ll give me a little discount because I’m a DoD employee. It doesn’t hurt to ask. I’ve done it on numerous occasions, and I’ve only ever been turned down once. Every other place gave me a 20 to 25 percent discount. All I had to do was show them my CAC. I’m honest about it too, explaining that I’m NOT on official business, so I’m not scamming anyone. I’ll take any discounts I am ethically entitled to receive.

My tummy is slightly wonky today. I hope I start feeling better soon.

VunderBob, my car’s a Saturn. This morning I ran to the store and something just didn’t feel right. And it’s running a bit warm, even with the air on; I wonder if there’s a fan in there that is wonky. My understanding that the temperature sensors on cars like mine tend to die, so since the car isn’t actually overheating (either telling me that it is, or doing scary things like giving off steam) I’m not going to panic. I am taking it in Tuesday morning to see what the computer has to say, though. If there’s a problem brewing I would much rather get it taken care of earlier than later. I don’t think there’s anything serious, but the car is eleven years old.

Fortunately, I’ve got a good place to take it.

We’ve got haze in the air from the California fires. If it weren’t for that the air up here is amazingly good, aside from last year when we had our own fire. hack cough

Wait, people born in 1990 can vote?

Lili, **Taters **-- Bons Voyages! Oh, yeah – Gotti, you too… :stuck_out_tongue:
