They call them “Mother’s rooms”, usually, and they’re a blessing. During Kid 1 breast-feeding period, I had to use an unoccupied office and put paper up over the window to do the pump thing. During Kid 2, the company had a room set up, chair, fridge, sanitary wipes, etc. It’s much nicer when we’re not pretending that women don’t have kids and that we don’t have to come back to work after 6 weeks. climbs down from soap box
I’m thinking DogLady or SetterQueen. No needless confusion with Doggio. SetterServant maybe?
You have solved it! His name is drum roll Adam!
Must sit down. I feel faint. Illusions shattered.
We got a few inches here. Kids got a school day. Husband’s 7 pm flight out of Portland was eventually cancelled outright at 10pm, after multiple delays (not enough de-icing equipment to keep up with the weather. He eventually got a flight down to CA at 1:30 today, after being promised a 6:00am flight. Now he’s trying to find a hotel (they cancelled his room on him, despite the credit card guarantee. Poor baby.
I hate this. No, your password must be at least 8 characters. OK. No, one character must be a number. OK. No, one character must be a special character. OK. No, one character must be capitalized. No, the word must not be a real word. No, none of the letters or numbers can be repeated. Etc, etc. Just tell us the rules already!
I’m due downstairs in a minute to play video games with 'Beamer. I find this stressful. He is autistic (yes, I mention this too often). He wants to play exactly the way he wants to play. He also really, really loves to play with other people. It is good for us to play with him to teach how to play well with other people; to be more flexible. It’s just emotionally very draining at times.
You should see the grocery shelves here. A weekend storm is predicted and things like bread, soup, milk, cheese and snacks are WAY down. If it gets ugly I plan on staying in all weekend, except for church.
Just finished nomming some super-tasty foil-wrapped chicken from nearby Chinese restaurant. Shrimp fried rice is lurking in the fridge awaiting its destiny as lunch tomorrow.
I thought adding more workers was supposed to ease workload a bit? We’ve had two training classes hit the call floor since Thanksgiving, and it seems like the call volume goes up each time.
In Holy School we were taught that it started early first/second century before any of the current denominations (except the Papists and that point got debated somewhat - have there been seperations in the church at Rome) in an effort to promote a sense of fellowship and reinforce what was taught or discussed Sunday. Two interesting articles can be found at
I can relate. My husband is autistic and I was just beating myself up yesterday for bringing it up too much. But, in a world of neurotypicals it is often necessary and all too relevant both because I want people to understand him and because I am so very proud of him for how far he has come in his life given his shitty and abusive upbringing.
Good for you with the video games. I’m also a sped teacher to a non-verbal autistic student who is very aggressive due to his inflexibility. I understand emotionally draining and commend you.
Ok, so if you haven’t noticed, I’ve decided to try to spend more time here and less on fb because it only just ends up irritating me most of the time.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 76 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Another jacket in the mornin’, short sleeves by noon kinda day. The big plan today is to take twuck in for an oil change and service. I need to be there around eight this mornin’. So I’ll be at the Ford place for however long that takes. Rah. Dindin shall be my world famous Eyetalian chikin and whatever sides I come up with.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I must purtify and get twuck over to the Ford place.
Can’t believe the day has started in the low 50s!! The only snow I saw on my way to work were remnant of plowed piles in parking lots. They should be greatly reduced before the day is over.
But as I pulled into the parking lot, I saw a couple of people smoking outside one of the buildings, and one was wearing a parka with a fur-lined hood pulled up. Seriously? If you have to bundle up like that for temps in the 50s, maybe you need to move to a more tropical region. eeeesh.
Dentist this afternoon. Otherwise, just another day in paradise. Happy Thursday!
We are half way through Thorsday over here and still no sign of the predicted SNOWMAGEDDON! This morning’s weather forecast said we would get snow this afternoon and then it would stop, the bigger snowfall is likely to be overnight so that’s fine. I have to do the grocery shopping tonight, the weathergod can throw down whatever he likes once I’ve stocked up with bread, eggs, milk and TP
Naturally I already have a stockpile of cat food and tuna so the felines are far better prepared for the light dusting of snow we’re likely to get…
Awake and watching some farm show highlights in television; reruns of the Sheep-to-Shawl contest. And planning a pot of tea. It isn’t that cold but its damp as anything and a big pot of tea just feels right.
Sheep to shawl? I used to like to going to the Fair here and watching the sheering contests. Sheep are big in Oregon.
Donut store sounds good doesn’t it? It does. I am soo tired and have a sore head. Going back to bed for a spell, then out to the donut store and over to my daughter’s doctor to sign some papers.
Forgot to mention earlier but last night was another weird one. I kept dreaming it was 4:30, then I’d wake up and look at the clock. Midnight. 1:45. 3:15. I don’t remember what a solid night of sleep is like.
Lunch has been ingested - entree was the last of the veggie-beef soup. It was truly a yummy pot of soup. Slightly shorter day today since I leave at 2:30 for the dentist. Hope they can just polish the rough edge and that’ll be the end of it. I don’t want to have to make another appointment.
I’m thinking I might make **FCD **take me out for supper tonight.
Freezing rain this morning. I win the “driving to irk in the worst weather” award. And Friday might bring sleet! Oh frabjous day, calloo, callay, wetone chortled in her joy.
Mooooom that’s generally how people dress in 50 degree weather in a more tropical climate… Heh.
Sorry for all the drive-bys but things have been kinds crazy here at Casa de Janis. To wit:
Friday I spent half the day looking for my HS diploma, so I could start Monday
(they could have called sooner and let me know they couldn’t find it in the background check grumble)
Saturday I had Sabbath school
Sunday our fridge & freezer died. Mom and Daddy came over with coolers & ice Sunday night.
Monday we were supposed to start work, but didn’t. (Long story. We wouldn’t have even had a ride home if one of our potential co workers hadn’t gone 20 minutes out of his way to run us home, love his heart) Fingers crossed, we’re starting this coming Monday. Plus we got a new fridge delivered.
Tuesday, PB went to the doc to replace the insulin that got crapped up when the fridge went kaput.
Yesterday I went to the doctor, since Mom’s been fussing at me to go & get some BP meds.
then last night I got a message that Daddy was rushed to the ER with a nosebleed
Trying to get my house clean today…
Howdy Y’all! Twuck got its checkup and all is well. I decided on peas 'n carrots, wild rice with ‘shroom gravy, and rolls as sides for dindin. I considered makin’ an apple pie but then realized I did not feel all that adventurous. Two loads of laundry are all washed, dried and put away. So a kinda productive day.
{{{Pearl}}} hope things get better for ya soonest.
Snowmageddon has yet to reach my area of England; we have an yellow warning though, I just checked the MET office website. It’s predicting a whole 1-2 cm!!¡!
Well. Possibly. About 40% chance.
It’s been headline news for days.
Seriously, we’re pathetic.
Luckily, I’m (at least in theory) off for the next two days, shaky healthed co-irkers permitting, and I have emergency TP and French Toast fixin’s stockpiled just in case, so I shouldn’t have to brave the road chaos which will inevitably occur should a smidgen of the white stuff actually show up.
