Stopped by a nearby froyo place after lunch, and one of the flavors was “California Tart.” I asked the guy at the counter if it was smog-flavored. Turns out to be just a dumb name for a Greek style, and it was quite tasty with some mango.
I used to know a West coast girl…nm.
The stupid…it burns…I gotta get out of here!
Also, my old boss (the one who just PCS’d) called me up to offer me a job…at Fort Belvoir, VA. Um, no I cannot afford to move out there. I can’t sell my house in this market, I can’t uproot my husband from his job, and the promotion wouldn’t offer enough for us to live out there and have me just support us.
I think it’s funny he called me, but he wanted me out there. He was going on and on about how good I would be there. I thanked him, but no…not gonna happen.
I knew a girl who moved to Tulsa; despite realizing what Tulsa spelled backwards is prior to her move.
heh - I’m waiting to hear about a job at Belvoir… Being that close to me (oh yeah, and BBBobbio) isn’t enough to make you want to transfer across the country? Where are your priorities, woman???
Well, FCM, I lurves both you and Bobbio, but I have the odd habit of wanting to eat now and again.
Really, I kind of looked at housing out there and gulped. If I didn’t already have a mortgage, I might consider it, but I just can’t take that big a financial hit.
Yeah, this isn’t a cheap area of the country. And right at the moment, it’s not a very nice part of the country either - it’s FREEKIN’ HOT!!!
I never spelled Tulsa backwards before–HA! I’ll never look at it the same way again.
We were talking at irk today about this lady in Swannanowhere who wrecked her car because she was eating a salad while driving. It made me want a salad, so when I went by Inglés (the local chain grocery) to get some “make my sinuses go back to normal” spray, I stopped by the salad bar and got me one. Which I am now eating, having picked off all the pickled okra first. Mmmmmm, pickled okra.
I was going to call my dad today to make sure he’s all right in this heat. He emailed me. He said he hoped I was enjoying the cooler weather. I told him 97 without major humidity is still hot and I still can’t venture outdoors until it gets back to normal.*
For comparison: Hippy Hollow temperatures. Doobie Bros. NC temperatures.
*Which at this time of the year is the high 80s. Who wants to come for a visit?
Howdy Y’all! I’m home and awaitin’ pizza. YAY!!! Then I need to get busy preppin’ stuff for tomorrow’s doin’s.
Spaz I checked out that link. I see several layers of wrong there.
Spidey ask your friend in Tulsa about the night life. From what I hear it’s pretty much like this…
Tulsa night life, filth, gin, a slut.
Read it backwards.
Ewww… We’ve broken the temperature record for the date and tied the all-time temp record of 104.
Pockets of people are losing power. Fingers are crossed that ours stays up. The AC here can’t cope with a “normal” hot day, and it’s past 80 in this room.
Records broken here, too, and more of the same tomorrow.
**FCD **said the guy who came to look at the boat was “weird.” And when he told me some of the things the guy said, I’m not so sure I want him to have our boat. It takes me back to when we sold our first boat - I’m willing to bet that within a year of buying it from us, the guy either sank or damaged it. Anyway, he said he’d call in a couple of days and let us know.
Supper was Amish corn on the cob (yum) and big salads. We’s both stuffded. I’ve got the sprinkler started again, and I’m about to assume the knit position. And on that note, I’m signing off for the night. I expect all of you to behave yourselves! So behave yourselves!!!
VunderKind and FutureDil? are here! We are sweaty with anticipation of family stuff!
Pizza and beerverages make life good. I have the deep fryer heatin’ up on the back porch to fry up some wings which I will then sauce, let cool and refrigerate overnight. Tomorrow they will go into a slow cooker on warm. By N.O.Ltime they will be so nummy. I’ve done this before and I find that the wings are actually better than hot out of the fryer, sauced and eaten. Oh and it’s a hunnert and three degrees out with a heat index of approximately a gazillion. It’s hawt! Fryin’ wings won’t make it any cooler but I can put 'em in, come back inside and go back in fifteen minutes and dump 'em out of the fryer.
I have also prepped ribs and chikin to go in the smoker tomorrow. Go Me! When I finish with the wings I’ll make up the coleslaw. Other fixin’s are bein’ brought by other people plus we’ll do some fresh corn on the cob. Dessert shall be ice cold watermelon. A true pre-Fourth of July celebration. The slabs o’ ribs I’m smokin’ tomorrow are actually for the real Fourth of July to take up to JDD’s folks cause we’re goin’ up there that day. JDD’s daddy loves ribs and the Fourth so we’re takin’ up a feast.
OK, gotta go get those wings goin’.
I hate you again.
I’m melting! whataworld! whataworld!
Yeah, 107 and the A/C was OOS here last night. Today there was a relatively inexpensive repair.
What is Amish corn? I think saw a lot of it when I drove through Pennsylvania several years ago.
swampy, boiling oil, deep fryers, smokers; you’re doing things awfully complex.
Me; I’m makin eggs for dinner. How I cookin’ 'em? Simple; real simple! Toss 'em on the sidewalk & go out with a fork a few minutes later!
It’s down to only 97° now.
I hate you, too.
Wings are fried and now are sittin’ in sauce. I got really hawt doin’ that. Thus, I have had a cooldown quick shower. AHHHHHHH!!! Now to make coleslaw.
Georgia ain’t that far away, and you have to sleep sometime…
