A MMP for the last week of June

Okay, now you have me worried about my dad again. Bad gotti.

105 here too. 105 tomorrow. Did I mention I’m going to an outdoor wedding tomorrow?

Oy vay! I do not envy your plans for tomorrow, **Doggio. **

It was also quite warm here today. 100ish, I think. We had a huge storm come through around 5 that brought the temperature down about 30 degrees and also knocked down lots of trees and branches. There was the usual missing electricity as well. Fortunately, the worst we got here chez GT was cable out. That means I’m typing this on my phone, but I can live with that.

Hoping most things are back to normal tomorrow. Sadly, it will be hot again, too. And presumably humid because of the rain.

At least it’s Firday.

Hugs all.

GT

I was just reading weather reports from the Wash. DC metro area, and over 1 million folks are without power!! Some will not be able to be brought back on line for “several days.” This is very dangerous with the high heat and humidity. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

It’s been hot in Albuquerque as well, near 100 and into next week high nineties, with little to no rain in sight. It is supposed to be the “monsoon” season, but there hasn’t been any rains yet. I’ve been feeling some of the heat, as our swamp cooler is not working as well as it could, but my gosh, I’m glad that we do have power.

My daughter and I have been going to the pool first thing in the morning - it’s nice and quiet then. It’s a good way for both of us to get exercise, and keeps us cool as well.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Yup just got home from running around videoing trees into houses, possible fatal car wrecks, power out. It was a hell of a storm!

Here’s some coverage

Hey y’all, I am loving having my oldest daughter and her family staying with me until their house closes in a couple of weeks, but hoo boy! I am not as young as I once was, these grandkids are wearing me out daily. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 77 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 105 and a heat index of 115! GEEZ!!! I like Summer and the heat and all but this is too much.

I’m waitin’ on daylight to start the smoked meat marathon. As soon as I can see enough outside Ima get slabs o’ ribs started. I’ll let those go three hours since I don’t want 'em to cook all the way today and then start chikin and country style ribs. YUM!!! Hate me flytrap! :stuck_out_tongue:

For now I shall have some more caffiene.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Slept right through it.

Dag, yo. We had some storms like that last week. It always seemed to start pouring down rain at 3 p.m. just as I got off irk. And that, kids, is the reason why heronner the mayor is staying at the irkplace of Spaz. (Tree went right through her roof. Must have been one of those Republican oaks. ;))

Ribs be smokin’ away! Go Me!

gigity just day-ummm! That was a powerful tstorm. Hope everybody’s power is restored soonest and there’s not too much damage.

wiki see, the good thing is they will go away. That’s the fun part of other people’s kidlets be they grandkidlets, nieces, nephews or just general kidlets.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

All you people complaining about heat should be coming over here - it’s 17 degrees and windy with 68% humidity today. My only plan is to not leave the house all day, it would be a waste of time trying to go into town as we have the olympic torch around this afternoon which necessitates road closures from 9am-6pm, re-routed public transport and re-located taxi ranks. Nope, not worth the bother.

I’ve got a cup of tea, I’ll just wait for the lunacy to be over.

BooFae I had to deal with Olympic Torch crap twice in 1996 so I feel for ya. Though actually one was on purpose as a friend’s twelve old child was a torch bearer. Said child, who is now 28 years old, is gettin’ married this October.

I feel old all of a sudden.

No golf today. I’m told 40 trees came down on the course last night. I will work a news shift today starting at noon.

Frankly the damage is so bad it’s like a tropical storm blew through. I notice Moooom and Bob haven’t checked in - good chance they have power, internet or tree issues, probably all three.

It’s about as bad as we have seen in years around here.

Bobbio did.

We had some nasty rainy weather earlier in the week. Now all we have is nasty hot & humid weather. I shall be spending the bulk of the weekend in this a/c’d room.

Yer right. My reading comprehention (as well as spelling) sucks right now. The heat and walking the golf course have been hurting me a lot. My feet are in bad shape.

But Ize gots bills to pay and overtime days sure look nice right now!

I’ve got to say – today’s high of 30 (C; 86 F) in the Middle East (well, my coastal corner of it, anyway…) seems positively springlike! It will get worse, though. Although Tel Aviv has never officially broke 100F. But it is 101 in Tiberias today and 100-and-Og-knows-how-much in Eilat.

**Wiki **-- seconding Swampy. One thing I learned (from my parents :D) is that the best thing about grandchildren is – handing them back to their 'rents!

Babyback ribs (did I mention they’re babybacks?) are off the smoker and “country style” ribs, chikin boobs and chikin laigs are on the smoker. Corn sallit is also made because I wanted some. I know, I know corn on the cob and corn sallit is just weird but I wanted some corn sallit dangit!

Good morning. It’s probably in the low 60s here right now, with an expected high of 66. Also, it’s a bit rainy.

I’d like drier and sunnier, but I’ll take what I’m having over what you folks are experiencing. Geesh! I don’t like like HOT, I don’t like HOT and HUMID, not at all.

We may take our son out and play some miniature golf, but I think that’s about the extent of our plans today.
