Drive-by post. Big post tomorrow, with chapters involving drugs, alcohol, home makeovers, ambulance wrecks, dogs, and kittie pics. It all has to wait for a keyboard that works…
Dinner was yum. Broiled fish (not sure what kind it was) with lemon and butter, lima beans, sugar snap peas, rice. There’s a peach cobbler cooling for a later dessert.
I need nutmeg. Remind me the next time I go to the grocery store. I like nutmeg in my peach cobbler, but I’m out, so I had to use cinnamon. I hope it tastes OK.
It’s below 60 already - about 67 in the house. I’m going to shut most of the windows tonight - no need waking up all frozen and stuff. It’s bad enough getting up on Mondays anyway.
I’m going to shop for an electric mattress pad. We’ve got an electric blanket, but we prefer the heat coming from beneath. So I’ll be moseying over to google my way into a shopping spree.
gt when he becomes MrEms he will be moving out here - we finally decided that today.
Libby already likes him…Friday night after golf and dinner he crashed at about 9.45. I go to bed about 30 mins later and I find Libby sitting on my pillow gently swatting him in the head. He was fast asleep and swatting at the thing touching his head. She poked him with a paw, he swatted, she poked, he swatted. This went on for about 5 mins with me giggling when with one final poke he pulls the covers up over his head and she looks disappointed that her toy was taken away - it was adorable!
BooFae, it may be a pain for the doctor to make you wait on the senior doctor but it is much, much better in the long run. When I lost the vision in my right eye many years ago, the first doctor I saw told me “you looked at the sun long enough to blind yourself in one eye.” Uh, no. It is very difficult to look at the sun long enough to do permanent damage, because your eye will involuntarily close. If you are able to keep your eye open, you are going to know it because it will hurt like hell. I told him he was an idiot and walked out. Didn’t pay the bill, either. The next doctor I went to also didn’t have a clue as to what was wrong with my eye, but he had the balls to admit it. He called in several other doctors in the building and then referred me to Emory University Hospital where I was diagnosed with ocular histoplasmosis. Fortunately for me, it hasn’t spread - most people who get it end up functionally blind - at least back when I got it. If caught early now they can correct it with laser surgery.
A doctor who won’t admit he/she doesn’t know is DANGEROUS.
Today was semi-productive. I updated most of my stash on Ravelry. Since I can’t post a link there, here’s my Ravelry stash pictures on Flickr. I have over 47,000 yards/42,000 meters, or over 26 miles, of yarn. And that’s just what I posted. I’d better get knitting!
I went to Target, where the entrance fee was $110. I feel all grown-up, since I finally broke down and bought an iron. Wee. But I also spent the best $5 **ever **. Don’t you agree? If I don’t post again, you’ll know that Skunk had his revenge.
Back from Hockey. I had fun, we won, the day was nice. It’s 67 right now, I have the windows open and the fans going. If it gets too chilly, it just means I won’t have to run the A/c tomorrow(That’s how I have a couple of $40 electric bills a year)
mmmmm, glad Libby says you can keep the Mister.
BooFae, I hope they find something that works for your eye.
Happy Birthday Mr. Taters!!!
I thought I remembered that you weren’t sure about your post-wedding locations, mmmmmmmmm. Good to know that’s sorted out. Glad Libby has given her approval as well.
I agree that it was much better to make sure there was a knowledgeable doctor, SCL, but thought the first doctor sounded generally helpless, which would be disheartening. (Of course, since I wasn’t there…I might just be reading stuff into BooFae’s post. )
My garden looks about one million times better now. I mowed, I weeded extensively, I even trimmed the suckers around the crabapples (grrrrrrrr  hate those things  grrrrrrrrr).
Also went for a walk to loosen up after all the yardwork.
Now I’m gonna go through pictures some more and get the ones organized that I want to share with y’all. Also, I had a bunch printed, so I can start putting an album together.
Also need to get clothes together for tomorrow. Already don’t wanna go to work…
GT
Sneakin’ in one more time. All guest left around 7:30ish. Kitchen is clean and dishwasher is goin’. I’m about to put da bear to bed.
Next week I’ll be doin’ some 7-7 shifts so maybe I’ll be more able to post throughout the week.
Nitey Nite Y’all!
Went for a lovely bike ride all through the Izaak Walton woods here. Lots of mosquitos, but also lots of ducks.
Now off to write a 5 page draft of a collection development policy. I bet you wish you could.
I’m thinking a hot shower will be just the thing on a cool night, so I’m off to de-scrunge myself, then crawl under the covers. And another weekend bites the dust. Dang thing moved way too fast.
Sweet dreams, all!
MWAH!!
Gee, FCM, I don’t close up at night until it gets below about 45F. But I did notice that you tend to like your house warmer than I do. I think most people do, actually. I’m not going to open any windows tonight, but I don’t know if I’ll turn on the heat in my room or not. I don’t mind if it’s cold what with all my blankets. It’s supposed to be about freezing when I leave for work in the morning. Time to break out my heavy jacket (formerly my winter coat) I guess!
What happened to the weekend???
I’m wondering what the hell happened to my weekend too.
I had a three day weekend, but it seems all I did was work and run, run, run. Yeesh! Maybe by October things will slow down around the ol’ Taters household.
Today, my daughter was well pleased. As I posted earlier, we went to MIL’s for dinner. Mr. Taters wanted show everyone what he got for his birthday. Additionally, we stopped by a music store to get a techniques book for guitar. Just basic stuff, like chords, how to play them, etc.
Anyway, when we arrived at MIL’s, we were discussing the guitar and the fact that all four of us want to learn, but my daughter wants to play an acoustic guitar. Well, it just so happened that my MIL had my SIL’s acoustic guitar in her closet. It has a nice hard case too, along with a little sheet music. Receiving that guitar put a great big smile on my daughter’s face. It’s funny, my husband and I were discussing the fact that we’d probably get an acoustic guitar for my daughter as a Christmas gift. Now, we don’t have to worry about it.
My SIL has passed on, so it’s not like she can use it anyway.
Mr. Taters and the kids spent the practically the whole time we were at MIL’s learning to play cords and tuning the guitars. Mr. Taters is even now sitting out in the great room trying to learn chords on the guitar.
I’m so pleased he likes his gift. It really gives me the greatest joy and pleasure to see how much he enjoys his gift.
Well, I think I’m going to sit down and read the paper. I didn’t get to read yesterday’s or todays paper and I’m starting to twitch. I HAVE to read the paper. I just HAVE to.
More cop cars? These are parked outside the *other *mentally ill person’s house (they are normally very quiet, except for the occasional ambulance visit for a suicide attempt.) What’s in the water around here, anyway?
gt, I like my version better. We’re the most dedicated Mumpers . . . eva’.
Who me? Nah, this is waaay more perverted than I would have dreamed. A guy’s hands touching your coffee mug before you get there and then holding hands with this guy everytime you take a sip?!
My imagination doesn’t even stretch that far.
Awww, patting Lunch’s head again. Poor baby.
You and palebunny have a thing for men in uniform, it seems.
Jahdra, beautiful stash and those pictures of Skunk cracked me up!
Good night and good morning everyone!!
Hey, it’s a new Monday.
Did I miss it? I looked for the new one before I posted and didn’t see one. But it’s before midnight here, so I’m still within the time frame.
She was very young, actually she looked like she’d probably only recently qualified and this was her first job. The eye exam she did was very thorough though, but she just didn’t know what treatment to go for so at least she had the sense to pass it on to someone else.
While I was with the senior doc, she came in to ask about someone else who had some kind of condition she didn’t know what to do about so at least she’s learning from them!
If she’d admitted she didn’t know what to do and had left it at that, I would have insisted on seeing someone else - eyes are just something you don’t mess around with.
**Taters **-- happy (belated) birthday to the Mr.
And congrats on the kid’s new guitar
All those of you enjoying cool weather… please send some here, dammit, I’m still boiling (and I’m sure Dotty will appreciate some nice cold wind, too)
Dr-s who won’t admit they don’t know what wrong are The Bane of the Earth
Y’all sure it’s Monday? 'Cos I don’t see the new MMP yet, so I’m sticking to this one for now!
I’ll say good morning to everybody in the appropriate venue (when it’s posted…) For now I’ll just bid Roo “good night.”
