A Monday without an MMP is like . . . (a substitute MMP)

I meant to mention, but apparently forgot, that the reason (IMHO) that **MamaTigs ** didn’t sell more is that when it’s hot and humid, people aren’t going to think much about buying a knitted scarf. I expect at the October show, she’ll do a whole lot better. Her work is lovely!

Heck, my mom may be getting a* *MamaTigs ** Original in her stocking this Christmas! MIL, too!

FCMom, MomTigs, no pictures of you two hot babes raking in the $$$?

So, you’re NOT in this to make $?

WHAT?

Just kidding. I used to cross stitch and I did it because I enjoyed it. The husband used to badger me to do it for money. Um, then it wouldn’t be fun anymore (although covering costs is always good, as is supporting charity).

I loves me the scarves. I love scarves. I also liked your stuff–the monsters. I think you’re on to something with the critters (I mean the ceramic ones). Cool beans!

Mama Tigs, did the scarf in the bottom right of this picture sell? If not, can I ask how much you are asking for it?

Thanks!

Life has been interesting at Casa de Scribbles…

FIRST my master boot record got corrupted (linux-related).

THEN I worked for a week setting up a new hard drive and “Stinkin’ WindersOS”.

THEN “stoopid linux tech supportfinally sent me a link to a fix. (would not run from DOS), so had to re-register & activate “Stinkin’ WindersOSso I could run it!

I swapped out hard drives, only to find
MY TCP/IP SETTINGS NO LONGER WORKED!(auto-detect)

THEN I had to call “stoopid internet tech support” and convince them my router was NOT the prob (Mrs. Scribbles shares same router), and HER computer was online…

FINALLY “stoopid internet tech supportdeigned to give me correct TCP/IP settings so I could set my connection up manually!

BY NOW I was two weeks behind reading MMP & posts, and feverishly attemped to ketchup

SO NOW

I sleep 2-4 hours every day or so, but in short unpredictable naps. Mrs. Scribbles says I sleep like a baby - I wake up screaming and wet! This may be 'cause I have OCADD (Obsessive Compulsive Attention Deficit Disorder). This means I absolutely, positively ALWAYS have to be doing something, but I am never really quite sure what!

In other words… things are back to [del]ab[/del]normal here.
So… how ya doin’?

Didja miss me?

Looks like the status here is quo

YIPPIE Scout!

HSM

Well, if you look carefully in this pic you’ll see some of me in the background. Notice the shaved legs - I don’t do that for just any occasion!

That sounds great (if hot), FCM! And your knitting inspires me Mama Tigs. I’m going to get that good someday!

Sorry that I always seem to come in here and whine. I try to limit my whining IRL so I tend to come here and dump it all on you. I’m not really as much of a basket case as I sound here! Thanks for the encouragement in any case.

Oh and the doc thinks that everything is ok (re: the abnormal pap smear that I mentioned last week). I’m still waiting on test results, but most likely everything’s fine and I just have to get this virus out of my system which could take months or years. But other than having to have every-six-month tests until it clears up, I’ll probably be fine. So thanks for the good vibes!

Aha! I thought that was you! Hi puppet!

Duck Duck Goose - I hereby dub thee Ducky. Welcome to the MMP where the cool kids hang and everyone gets a nickname, whether they want one or not.

Welcome back, scribbles and welcome back and best wishes for a happoy marriage to you, scout. Are you going to flood Dopers with postcards from Vegas? (like Nawth Chucka and Tripler did from Charleston)?

FCM and Tigs - nothing like a little success to spur you on to create more, huh? everything looked so pretty. Mooooom - did Granny Bunny sell? if not, how much is it?

Ducky - I can totally relate to grabbing folk for chorus. I sing with a Sweet Adelines chapter, and I ask every woman I meet if she likes to sing.
Hey! Get with it people! It’s 6:30 Monday evening and we’re only one page one!

**rosie ** - Granny Bunny didn’t sell - go figure! I thought she was adorable! I can’t remember how I priced her, but I can check and send you an email. I feel funny using the boards to do business - I’d much rather just show off and brag!

The mouse didn’t sell either - my sweetie thinks it’s because you have to look at it from the top to know what it is. He’s probably right, but I still like my blue mousie!

Wow! Congratulations, Scout!!

And woo hoo, FCM and Mama Tigs!! Congrats on doing so well at the craft fair. FCM, I’ve gotten several compliments on your piece that I have on my desk at work (doing duty as the candy dish - and quite nicely, I might add!). One of my co-workers told me today that she really likes the coloring of the glaze, as do I. We’ve just got good taste, I guess (not unlike Charlie the Tuna …? ;)).

BBBBobbio, I’m glad things worked out okay for your wife, and I’m really glad that your finger is doing okay.

My daughter met up with me on the bus on the way home from work today - except that the bus we were supposed to take was about 30 minutes late, then the bus we transfer to to get home was also late (by about 10 minutes), so we didn’t hit the grocery store until nearly 6 pm and didn’t get home until 6:30. We’re having roast turkey breast, broccoli au gratin and mushroom risotto with cornbread, all courtesy of the local Safeway. And I got a pint of Ben & Jerry’s caramel fudge swirl ice cream - good og that stuff is good!!

And it’s back to work in the morning. Oh no! laughs Is it Friday yet?!

First on 2! Yay!

I forgot about something else I had to share here. In our marina, the boat across the pier from us is a catamaran. One day we noticed (like we could miss it) that there were about a dozen bras of assorted colors and styles hoisted up in the rigging.

My spousal unit asked the owners about it, and they explained that they were displayed to show their support!

(go ahead and groan - you know you want to!)

What really kills me is this is an older couple - older than us anyway.

When we were there on Sunday, we were talking to Cookie - the female half of that couple. (no, they weren’t her bras - she’s easily a AA cup and the ones flying high were at least Cs - hey - high Cs - high seas - it’s like a joke! ) Anyway, Cookie told us the day before was their anniversary and she spend the day walking up and down the dock in her wedding dress. And flip-flops. I do so wish we’d been there with our camera. The story just cracked me up.

sounds like a cool couple with whom to be friends

Monday has been well Monday. I have new kitty pics but I seem to have spent all day on the phone or dealing with other peoples personal problems or trying to stave off a migraine.

Off to Target - I need conditioner and swiffer cloths! I will not leave with anything else. Nuh-uh you can’t make me.

I’ve been reading, but too work-ish to post.

T-Minus 45 hours and counting until my mom arrives for her two-week visit.

I’m stocking the beer fridge now.

Happy Monday! I will not have a computer at work until Friday. I’ll get a phone eventually, too. Yes, I am being paid to sit there and look pretty for a week. Nice work if you can get it. What I did today: make lots and lots of copies, send 2 dozen faxes, count out over 1000 pink ribbons in sets of 50 for the Lee Denim Day in October, and, my old nemesis, cut pieces of paper into perfect rectangles. At least they weren’t name tags this time. From 4 - 5, I read the Staples catalog, because everyone else had gone home in my department. Tomorrow, I get to borrow someone else’s computer for the day. She recommended playing solitaire to keep busy. There is too much traffic to actually read a book or knit at my desk, unfortunately. They really need me, eh? Not that I’m complaining. I assume that there *will *be work once I get a computer.

The orangey one with the long fringe? Yes, it did – I think it was one of the first to go. I love that yarn, too; it’s one of the few I paid full price for at my local Very Expensive Yarn Shop (although it takes so little it wasn’t like it cost me a bundle). I sold it for $15. If you’d be interested in one like it, let me know; I’ll run down and see if the yarn is still available. Last time I was in there it was, and heaven knows I’m always looking for ANY excuse to go to the Yarn Garden! I’ll give discount prices to Mumpers, obviously, plus postage, cause you guys are special.

I also learned a lesson: The scarf I thought was so ugly that I almost didn’t take? I also marked it down to $10, even though it was a fairly intricate knit/purl pattern on teensy needles, just because I didn’t think I dared ask more for it. Lesson learned! Scarves are now going to be $15 up! The only things I priced higher were the two lace small triangle shoulder shawls (which would make nice dressy winter scarves with a nice wool coat, for example) because there was a lot more work involved in them.

And speaking of knitting, You haven’t posted any knitting photos lately except your sock, Jahdra. What have you been working on? You do such gorgeous things, and so different from the kinds of things I do, I always love to see what you’re doing. We need pictures!

And we need kitty pictures, mmms! Kitty pictures are always more important than work!

I’ve got about 75 minutes worth of recording left to finish transcribing. Which I really, really need to get done tonight. And since it takes 2-3 times as long to transcribe stuff as it does to record it, that means I’ll be up till…way too late again. :frowning: So I guess I’d better get to it, even if I’d rather be knitting!

ETA: I also finished that scarf the woman was asking for when it’s finished, so I’ll try to take a photo of it. I was really pleased with it – the way the colors in the yarn zigzag back and forth across is really neat.

Ooh! I want me a scarf! Can I choose the color scheme and you choose the yarn? (I’d like to get one for my daughter for her stocking). Yay! (although I think you should change your name to Madam LaFarge!).

I am wasting my evening–I should be finishing daughter’s window treatments. Cleaning all the baths did me in…
Am playing that jelly squares game–I’m on level 53 now. It’s a bitch.

Sure, Rigs, although it may be a week before Christmas when you get it, at the rate I have projects piling up right now! What color scheme are you interested in? My email is in my profile; contact me privately and we can discuss.

ETA: Isn’t it Madame DeFarge? Anyway, I’ve been accused of being her many times over the years. Thanks a million, Mr. Dickens!

Work boring. Home. Bed soon.

Love you all.
