A Monday without an MMP is like . . . (a substitute MMP)

Nothing like a 14 hour Monday at work. On the bright side, my hockey season tickets were waiting on the front step when I got home. WOOOO!

FCM, looks like you and MamaTigs had a great show. This is the MMP, so having the OP halfway down page one is no big deal.

Congrats, scout!! From what I’ve seen, you want to skip your wedding, and go straight to the honeymoon.

BBBobbio, I’d say take care, but I don’t listen to doctors either. :smack:

Haze, glad to see you back. But I guess this means you’re no longer on the night crew since I hope you’re not working in the middle of the night.

Mork, what if you planned on not getting anything done on your vacation as the thing to do? What would happen then? :stuck_out_tongue:

scout, congrats on your engagement!! A :::snoopy dance::: for you!

FCM and Mamatigs, that booth looked wonderful!! And congrats on the success!

Hey Scribbles, nice to see you again. Sorry about the computer troubles but glad you got them figured out.

taxi, good to hear about your good results with the doctor.

Jahdra, obscene money for doing that?! Good deal!!
Now really, where is the night crew? Dotty and Lunch have been AWOL for much too long. Did that side of the planet fall off the earth or something?? What’s up?! Get back here, both of you!

Another good night to everyone! I’ll save my good mornings until the morning people actually show up!

Hey everybody, I am back…didja notice me missing? Ha, probably not, as intermittently as I post. My computer has been at the doctor, while I was up in Anchorage my 16 year old messed up and my computer went insane, and after a week of trying to geek the problem I gave in and took it back to the guy who built it for me. The tally for the repair was reasonable, only $74.20, and the 16 yo is doing chores to pay me back. I told her no downloading!

Good on you rosieposie for getting the MMP rolling! And congratulations FCM and Mama Tigs on your success. FCM already knows that I love her work, I think I am going to email you, Mama Tigs and see if I may commission a project from you. No worries about conflicts with your current and holiday projects, just something I want and can’t find, and am no longer able to make for myself.

Congratulations scout! I don’t really know you other than the old time MMPer’s mentioning your absence, but yay on the engagement, and don’t let the wedding become more stressful that happy.

Anyway, I am back on The Rock, Summer is over and Autumn is in full swing. The kids are back in school (since August 27th) and skiffman is home, although the skipper has not officially hung it up for the season. The two of them went out gill netting today for our home pack, which is the salmon we are allowed to take for subsistence. The got nine silvers and one chum, we will be eating a chum fillet for supper tomorrow night. Any suggestions for sides would be appreciated, I am tired of the same old same old, rice and a veg, generally.

My granddaughter is now three and a half weeks old, she and her mama are coming for a few days on the 20th, and I am looking forward to that! I miss my kid, and Tea is such a sweet baby! Her grandpa, aunt and uncle have yet to meet her, so a good time will be had.

Other than that, my current plans are to get some straw bales to mulch my garden beds with and hopefully prevent any more die off, I lost so much last Winter. I am working on my beading with an eye on the Christmas bazaars to come, and skiffman has yet to decide if he is going out west for red crab.

So many new people, I cannot keep up, but I would like to give a shout out to Duck Duck Goose who was very kind to me a couple of years ago when I was in a panic over a health issue in my family and someone snarked at me on my misspelling of the word “seizure”. I have never forgotten your kindness, and it’s nice to see you in here with the rest of the very Coolest of Kids!

Hi Roo! hophophop!!!

Later, dudes and dudettes!

Morning all! Lovely script and pics, FCM - I think we could forgive you for the lateness!

Congratulations, Scout! Does this mean you’re going to be visiting more regularly to keep us up to date on the wedding plans? We’re going to be in Vegas in November, I’ve told 'im indoors I’ll be taking him to the nearest chapel and marrying him off to Elvis.

Congratulations also to VWife, sounds like she got off without too much bother after all. You must be relieved about that, BBBobbio.

Doggio - is the whole box a season ticket or just a bit of it? Maggie looks suspiciously interested in it!

Ellen - Baby Cherry’s birthday looks like lots of fun, even more so when there’s blue cake involved.

I was pretty busy last night as it was my turn to cook dinner and I’d planned to do a chicken and leek bake but I forgot to get any bacon on my way home so I had to revise my plans and we had Morroccan chicken instead, which 'im indoors decided was so good he’d let me cook it again for him. How generous, right?

Also, I made a blackberry and apple pie using some apples that the veg man brought me last week and a load of blackberries that I picked on Sunday before we started hacking away at the brambles in our “garden”. I hesitate to call it a garden because it’s more of an urban wilderness but the good part if that it has loads of brambles in it. My plan was to pick as much fruit as I could reach, and then start cutting the brambles down so I could reach more of the fruit. We do have a lot of berries out there but many of them are too soft to pick or have just rotted on the bush because I’ve not been able to pick them. Sadly far too many of them are still red and likely to remain so because we just haven’t had enough sun to ripen them. Anyway, I started clearing one corner near the house and managed to completely fill our recycling bin with only this bit of progress - the brambles on the ground are ones we cut afterwards and have piled up ready to go in the bin tonight once it’s been emptied.

Our recycling bins only get emptied every fortnight so disposal could be a long process! I did suggest to 'im indoors that we could hire a skip for a weekend (should cost us about £80 for a large one) and invite a bunch of friends over to help out. Usually the offer beer and food is enough to tempt a few of them in our direction for a bit of honest work, and the garden’s not big enough for more than a few people at any one time especially since there’s so much greenery! Eventually we plan to get the whole thing landscaped properly with the plan being to have it made into a three-tier garden, largely paved with small flower borders and a lot of tubs etc. Then there’s the new fencing down the right hand side, and that ugly grey breezeblock wall that our twunt of a neighbour built is going to be painted a nice shade of cornflower blue.

Naturally we had the visit from the obligatory Irish navvie who gave us a verbal quote of £2,800 to do the whole job. I expect he’s got a load of tarmac left from a job he’s doing round the corner that we could use…

One of the guys in the chorus at Mom’s parish is a City Councilor and Representative in the central Parliament. That guy standing discreetely in the doorway to the bleachers where the chorus stands? His bodyguard. Half the time he misses chorus it’s because of meetings; the other half, because he’s under orders to increase security again

GRATZ SCOUT!!!

Glad you’re OK, pottery-making-mother.

Today is Tuesday, which is my Monday. Not only that, but last week I was away (had a doctor visit back in Spain), so it’s a bigger Monday. And a new factory is “in” our program, so we’re getting the explanations of how it’s being set there. Putting it short but not sweet: it’s been set ass-first and without lube. And the coworker who shares my position has been sitting on his arse all week; several things which could already be solved haven’t even been touched. So excuse me while I try to convince myself that it’s worth it to get some work done, and not worth it to buy a flamethrower to do it with…

Hmph. Why am I awake? It’s only six-twenty.

Oh, well. Good morning, everyone! kawik, nice to see you!
Time for bath and tea and laundry sorting. I hope it stops raining when I walk to the laundromat.

Morning. More work, then a beer run.

Welcome back, kai! We missed you, but figured you were busy.

BooFae, that’s the box for the season tickets. It is filled wiht goodies for the tenth anniversary of the Hurricanes in N.C. They were printed in Canada, so maybe Maggie detected the odor of Timbits .

Nava, some of the best time in my life involved beer and fire.

Does anybody know where is the Special One? We seem to be missing people left and right lately!

Morning, y’all. My finger fell off overnight while I slept. The stump is a little itchy right now…

Just kidding.

Caffeination underway, and I’m about to go foraging for breakfast. Otherwise, I got nuthin.

Ick. The last few days instead of taking the time to run to Dunkin Donuts, or Mac D’s for coffee, I’ve been coming straight in and drinking vending machine coffee here.

Bleh.

Not a lot pressing here today, I think it’s going to be catch up day for me.

who wants my rain? I am SO done with rain and humidity for the year!

Me! Me! Me!

I’m still disappointed Gabrielle was a dud.

My contract ends when?

I’m subcontracted through an agent. My contract with the agent ends in December. Turns out that the contract between the agent and the customer ends this month (which I guess explains why my badge expires this month, something nobody understood). While I won’t be particularly sad to see these people’s backs, I now have to worry about what this means re. next year’s taxes and I’m kind of pissed that I refused two interviews last week.

They’re so fargin’ elegant, these agents…

I’d take it, but it’s dropping to near- or below-freezing at night suddenly and I don’t like cold rain. Brrrrrrrr.

I just figured out I can get a NC Firefighter/Rescue Squad plate for the Nerdmobile, and have it personalized… I’m thinking VBOB…

Whaddaya y’all think? Should I go for it?

VBOB works

VBOB is a good 'un.

Nice job on the misdirection FCM, but we know you and MamaTigs were really beat from the kegger and the table dancing and what-not. It’s just that everyone else is too polite to mention it.

This weekend welbywife and I went a-hikin’ up in the mountains. It was nice - beautiful weather and not too humid. My favorite part of the day was when we came across a woman and her daughter (10-12?) and thier dog and struck up a conversation. The daughter and puppy were making thier way out to a view point and the mother said “Don’t fall off, okay?” I piped up with “Or if you do, let go of the leash!” Insantly mom replied, “Oh God no. Make SURE you hold onto the leash!”

On the bad side, it was a weak picture day for both of us, none of the ones we thought would be really good turned out right. I’ll post a link to the least bad pictures as soon as welbywife gets them sorted.

LaFarge, DeFarge–whatever. I didn’t take French.
I’ll have to think of the colors–this if for Daughter-the pickiest person on the planet. I’ll email-thanks!
I have already had a busy morning. #2 son is (finally) learning how to ride a bike. He has been morbidly afraid of falling off–and the third time he does it on his own (down our very long driveway), he hit a tree. His right wrist if just a tad swollen, so I’m taking him in this afternoon to have it checked. Had to go to Walgreen’s (think Boots, Brits) to get some Motrin for him as well. And now I have to go re-cert for CPR! Then doc, then school, then work x 2 days, then jury duty! Where did my lovely week go? Grrrr.
BooFae- That is some jungle. Any chance of burning some of it? I say get the pals in; that’s a ton of work for 2 people. The plans sound nice, though–no more Serbia plans (or was it Slovenia?).

Blergh. When I woke up early, I had a bath. got dressed, and then puked. So I went back to bed.

Now I’m doing the laundry and the baking.

Not until I get Internet at home, I guess. Although with my new schedule I might be going to bed at the stupid hour of 11pm, since I have to get up at 6am nowadays. Blech.

It’s freezing this morning! On the other hand, I got to wear my new fall dress I bought last week. On the other other hand, I was still cold. Brrr.

Congrats and best wishes, scout!!

Need. Breakfast.
