A Monday without an MMP is like . . . (a substitute MMP)

MamaTigs - I picked enough fruit to make a blackberry and apple pie last night but I’m not sure how much more useable fruit I’ll get from the bushes. An awful lot of the berries are still red and I doubt we’ll get enough sun now to ripen them. Most of the rest of the ripe fruit is either unreachable at the moment, too ripe to pick without squishing, or it’s just rotting because it’s been left too long. Shame, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Kai - nice to see you back again. I’ll second the “something hot and satisfying” in the morning! Actually at the moment I’d just settle for some sleep after last night. 'im indoors woke me up at 3am by poking me in the back a couple of times. I immediately thought it was something wrong with one of the cats so I asked him what he wanted. He looked at me and said “I thought you were asleep”. So I said I had been, he’d woken me up, and what did he want? He said, “Nothing, I thought you were asleep” - and this went on a couple more times.

Needless to say, I couldn’t get back to sleep and was still lying awake at 5am. He slept like a brick until his alarm went off, and swore blind he couldn’t remember waking me or talking to me in the night. Apparently he was asleep and must have been dreaming.

So the only hot and satisfying thing on my mind is the bath that’s running, and the yummy Lush bath ballistic waiting to be dropped in there.

ETA: I’m a Page Three girl!

**FCD ** just got home, feeling a bit icky and not interested in dinner, so the poke tenderloin went back into the fridge, and I decided to go ahead and run the dishwasher. It was close to full - I was holding off for one more meal’s worth. But I’ll prolly just eat some cereal later, so the dishes are washing.

The rain has stopped and it’s humid and dreary out. Sadly, it hasn’t cooled down as promised. I had to close up the house and turn the air on. bummer.

We got a letter from our heating oil company. Since we’re on automated delivery, our fuel costs are capped. This season, the cap is $2.949. Last season it was $2.699. I can see me buying some extra sweats so we can minimize the amount of oil we burn. Stoopit fossil fuels. :frowning:

I said it before and I’m saying it again: is it Friday yet??

That is all…

I am feeling increasingly wretched as the day progresses. At this point, I’m giving up and shutting the 'puter down and crawling in bed for some serious kitty cuddles. Nighty-night, all!

I’m having fun with this finger.

“What DID you do to your finger?”

“Got hit in the nose…”

BBBobbio, you are such a class act!

I get off work before dark, and what happens? It’s 97 degrees in Meatspace, and the Dope is down. Work went OK, and I go in late tomorrow.

MamaTigs, hope you feel better when you wake up.

Sorry about the continued hornking, LiLi.

Roo, in answer your quetion from the last MMP, I have a varied selection. The Dorsey Brothers stuff comes from the LPs I got from Grandma when I was 8, and the record bin at the local used book store.

Vbob, VBOB os good. I have overcast, but no rain here. It feels nasty outside.

LiLi is a cat?

I could say something crude, but she would sic ninjas on me.

Uploading kitty pics!

Today was even more fun than yesterday, with even less work. Tomorrow, I get to put stickers on books. Envy me.

Today was one of those days. It felt like Monday. I got dressed, put on my brand new top, got in the car, drove down the street, looked down at the light, and the top has a gigantic hole in it. So I had to go home and change. Then it took me half an hour to get to work, due to two accidents, so I was 15 minutes late. (At least I wasn’t the unlucky woman that ended up on the trolley tracks, nor the commuters trapped on the trolley, waiting for the car to be cleared. No injuries, luckily.) Then at lunch I liberally splattered salad dressing all over my top. Once I got back to the office, I managed to dump a full bottle of water over on to someone else’s phone.

For some reason, I’m extremely tired. How can doing nothing all day be exhausting?

MamaTigs, I’ll try to post project pics soon. I’m currently working on a cabled chevron scarf which looks a lot like snakeskin. I still haven’t finished the second sock, nor the Lady Eleanor stole. Now that it’s cooler, it’s less masochistic to knit.

Kai, I was just thinking about you the other day. I’m glad to hear everything is ok.

Alrighty here we go…

How Libby spent Saturdy afternoon - yes that is my thigh

How Libby spent Sunday afternoon

Beautiful kitty

Perusing the Dope

oh and kitty helping me prepare for work on Monday

BBBob - too bad you don’t have 5 characters - after all, didn’t one of your EMT/Firehouse bosses give you that nickname? - VBOB will have to do.

Putting a thong on backwards, I get (never done it m’self - don’t wear 'em) but sideways? :dubious:

mmmmmmmmm - kitty is adorabubble. I want to come back as a loved house cat so I can sleep on every surface in the house and curl up on the sunny spot on the carpet. yeah. The kitty’s life for me.

Vbob - please check both your email and your PMs

SQUEE!

I needed to see that. Kitty is lovely–I love the shape of her face and her coloring.

horrible day. Went from my hospital (recert CPR), to doc’s office with #2 son to another hospital (Xray of possible hairline fracture wrist) to errands (forgot milk), gas (on empty), to class while making dinner and picking up #1 son and fight with husband (I didn’t ahve time to talk to him on the phone-he has trouble with that). Class was long and hard–I am seriously lost and confused. Almost started to cry in class (well, not IN class, but at keyboard). plus, nasty Pit thread --I hate arguments and am sorry I ever entered that one.

Work adn jury duty to round out the week. <sigh>

Saw on Inside Edition (no choice, was subjected to it in hosp. waiting room) that some woman has ahd sextuplets. God love her. 5 boys and 1 girl. Since when do humans have cat sized litters?

I’d like to interrupt the MMP for a moment is I may.
I wanna say one thing, and it’ll probably piss a few people off, but I don’t want to start a whole pit thread because I do not want to be flamed and I do not want to get into a lengthy discussion on the topic (besides, I’m sure there are already a few threads on it as it is)
Today is the 6th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Yes it should be commemorated, but not the way they did. They spent 5 plus hours this morning reading the names of those lost in the attacks. Very moving on the first anniversary. A grim reminder on the second. To me, a tad annoying on the sixth. YMMV. How are people supposed to heal if the media keeps picking at the scab?
This is my own opinion. I am not forcing anyone to see things my way, so don’t jump on me and tell me I’m wrong. That is all I want to say on the subject. I now return you to our regularly scheduled MMP.

Hi all. Sorry for the absence, but we have had the usual run of electricity rationing, PC problems, internet outages and DCBBT (Dotty Can’t Be Bothered Today). Noor has been rabidly chewing on anything she can lay her hands on (including Mummy’s fingers), but still no sign of teeth. Based on her chomping down on my finger down the sides of her mouth, she seems to be getting more trouble from her canines and premolars rather than her incisors, so I am not sure where to expect the first teeth to sprout!

Rosie, I was relieved yesterday passed without too much fanfare. 'Nuff said.

mmmms, cute kitty. I hope she is settling in and getting used to you!

Jaaaahdra, salad dressing is nothing - I spent the day yesterday walking round in a t-shirt liberally decorated with milk-puke and egg whites (don’t ask!).

Baby crying - more later …

Hey kai!! ~waving~ to kai! Nice to see you here. Haven’t seen you in a while.

Yeah, where is that boy?!

I know the feeling. Double blech.

I say try it. Meh. It couldn’t get much worse than it already is. It might actually be interesting.

Do you get to enjoy them sometimes or are they just collectibles?

rosie, re 9/11. I couldn’t agree with you more.
**
Dotty**!!! You’re back! :::bounce, bounce, bounce::: Nice to see you again. Sorry to hear about all your connecting problems, especially the DCBBT one. :stuck_out_tongue:
I had some of the last fruits of the season today. . . a bittersweet reminder that winter is on the way. I don’t like winter. I LOVE summer. I had some sweet strawberries, grapes, a peach and sweet corn today. Yum!

Good night everyone!

and good morning to Dotty, the awol Lunch, BooFae and Nava!

Well, hello everyone!

scout, my congrats to both you and your sweetie! May is a good month to get married.

FCM and Mama Tigs, congrats on your sales at the fair. I think it’s just awesome that you donate the money to charity.

Bobbio, I think you need to go for the plate.

kai, I’m glad to see you back.

rosie, I agree with you. Should we recognize the day with a moment of silence? Most definitely. We should always remember, but I think it’s all politicized. Okay, off my soap box. Sorry about that.

Sunday’s outing on the boat was nice. I pinked up slightly, but it’s already darkened the slight tan that I already had.

I’ve got to say I’ve never had the problem with the thong, but only because I don’t own one. I just can’t understand how having that ride in your crack is comfortable.

Nothing much else going on here. I wish it was Friday too, because that means I’d be off on my RDO.

Toodles…

A quick late night (okay, it’s only 10:05, but it was an early morning for me, no nap, and having taken my newly refilled meds I am getting sleepy) drive by. I just have to share this recipe which was shared with my grandbaby’s other grandmother. She is doing Weight Watchers or some such program, and while some of the recipes she shares, this one is not only awesomely delish, it is astoundingly easy to make, and appropriate for the Autumn season. You get a big can of pumpkin, (not the pie filling, just plain ol’ pumpkin) and a box of cake mix. I used a carrot cake mix, she says that spice cake and a double (triple?) chocolate are equally yummy. Dump the pumpkin and the cake mix in a bowl together, beat until it is a nice thick batter and divide into lined muffin tins. Bake at 350 degrees for 30ish minutes (mine were very full, so they took almost 30 minutes) untill a pick inserted in the center comes out clean. They are substantial but not dense, moist but not crumbly, and they are a healthy treat. I think the next batch I make I will add either raisins or crasins. Dried cherries might be good too. Perfect for the kids to take with them for a breakfast on the run or a midday snack, and skiffman is taking some tomorrow when he and the skipper go out gill netting again.

My bed is calling, the muscle relaxer has kicked in, I am off to watch The Daily Show. See you in the morning!

Just for you Roo ::bounce bounce bounce::

I’m alive. Still very busy. Will report later.

Happy (Jewish) New Year (tomorrow) to anybody who cares! (Why yes, Rosie, I am looking at you :))
