Great idea, beebs. It’s too early for me to think of additional mumper jargon, but that’s just because it’s too damn early in the morning and I haven’t had coffee yet. We should probably add in all of LiLi’s various Husbands, though.
The director from my old department just emailed me to let me know that they’re expecting me back in two weeks when my project assignment wraps. They don’t quite know what to do with me, but in the meantime I’ll just play floater and flunkie, doing all the stuff that no one else really feels like doing. In the meantime, the job I want is dragging their heels in setting up an actual in-person interview, so there’s a very good chance that things will still be in limbo two weeks from now and I’ll have no choice but to go back to my old department.
Still digesting how I feel about that, but right now it mostly involves lots of Do Not Want.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! I’m up and caffienatin’ but not very motivated as of yet. I have a dental appointment at 9:30 a.m. so I’m not goin’ to work ‘til after then. It makes no sense to me to drive all the way to work then drive all the way back across town for the appointment. Especially since my dentist is practically on my way to work. So I’m lazin’ a bit before purtification this mornin’. This is a routine appointment so it shouldn’t take long anyways.
I’m not sure about a MMP glossary. It’d never be up to date cause we change and add stuff a lot. It’s best to just try to keep up week by week.
cb back in the day, I was asked if I would make a donation and decided against it. I figured the world would be better off if I stayed outta the gene pool.
Muppet I hope all the job stuff works out for ya.
Taters I’m glad my mad cullinary skilz are a hit in the PNW. Amazin’ how sump’n so simple to do can be the thing people carry on about ain’t it?
Ok, guess I should forage then go get purtified. I suppose it would be rude to make rumbly noises whilst the hygienist is cleanin’ my toothies.
Well, he did say, “Imaginary friend, whom I’ve met. Well, I’ve met two of them”. I could have sworn I was ewatating him correctly. I thought it was just a case of mild foot-in-mouth.
Argh. Okay. Nat is about three feet ahead of where I put him down five minutes ago. It’s not possible to roll that way, therefore he sort of crawled. Or oozed, or something.
Strange evening, yesterday. It was the 4th Monday meeting of my fire department, held on Tuesdsay because Monday was a holiday, and the traditional department dinner night. Just as the main course was coming off the grill, we were paged for a 3 alarm house fire over near the Pixley station.
The house was already burned to the foundation before any crew got there. Even worse, it was the second time in 10 years that house burned down.
The kicker: I’m driving home, and I feel something on my neck. I reached back, and pulled off a tick. And another. Yet a third was found when I was getting in the shower to wash off the smoke and grime. Yuuu-fucking-uuuck. It’s time to fumigate my turnout gear.
this is kind of like the discussions Cousin and I sometimes have (the roles reverse depending on the subject)
eta - so that’s how you get the top of the page - you don’t care about it anymore.
Turns out our main server is going to be shut down for two whole days, this Thursday and Friday. I’m taking one of my floating holidays on Friday, and I’ll be able to do paperwork on Thursday. So, a very short week for me. Yay!
Just when you think it’s safe to put 'em down, they go and move on you! It sounds like Gnat will take the same “commando-style” approach as HRH - look on it as a great floor-cleaning device! Just tape some Swiffer cloths to his tummy and let him go!!!
Thanks all for the good wishes on the job front. I’m trying to get a few minutes face time with the project director to see if she can light a fire under some asses… if there’s no offer in the table by the 13th, there’s a good chance I will be pulled from circulation by the Powers That Be until December (company policy - you must remain with a dept for a minimum of 6 months before you can leave again). Not good.
LiLi, babies as cute as Gnat do not ooze. They are propelled forward by the natural force of their cuteness, in a modified form of yogic flying.
More additions for the glossary: doggio = dogbutler Soapy, Rapunzel = IvoryTowerDenizen NOP = Not Our Pie
VBob, twice in ten years? Please tell me it’s not the same owners, at least? I think they may want to consider moving someplace a little less flammable… like an igloo or something.
Good luck with the fire-lighting. :crosses fingers:
I think we need to have a garage sale or something. And maybe even stop buying books for a while. I just got The Pie and Pastry Bible last week. That should hold me for cookbooks for the next wile. I’m also running out of cookbook space, and damned if I’m getting rid of any of them. :hugs The Kitchen Diaries:
Morning, all. Sounds like the Mumptionary is an excellent idea; I’ll think of some contributions when I wake up. If I wake up. Today it’s somewhat questionable.
Ticks, Bobbio? Eww! Eww eww eww! Yes, fumigation is definitely in order!
Sounds like your days of put-the-kid-down-and-go-do-something are going to be over shortly, LiLi. Once they discover propulsion, there’s no going back. This might be a good time to put child latches on all your kitchen cupboards (uppers included – my nephew could climb up and open those by 18 months), except for the one unlatched one that contains old plastic containers, pot lids, and other things Gnat will enjoy banging around underfoot whilst you cook. You’ll need it before you know.
I went to bed early and slept fitfully, until early this morning when I finally managed to get a couple hours of solid sleep. At least all our humidity and barometric nastiness blew out overnight; this morning it’s cool and breezy and should be sunny soon, so I can go back to (a) enjoying the weather and (b) turning the AC off and enjoying AC by Og, aka fresh air. I should at least contemplate working, but this far even contemplation has been too much effort. So we shall see.
It is so nice to breathe again! So nice. I actually sat on my newly plantified deck last night, though the night air was chill. It’s pretty cool here today, too. Brr. I’m actually wearing boots.
Anyone heard from Rue lately? I was just telling Doper Kilvert’s Pagan on IM that I met him Once Upon a Time, and it made me miss him, our former fearless leader/creator of the MMP.
Better get to work. A magazine stubbornly won’t create itself.
Well, that’s scuttlebutt, since I wasn’t around the first time.
Dude had 5 freezers and a houseful of junk, so I suspect the cause was electrical, and spread because of his housekeeping skills. FWIW, no one was at home, and no critters were there, either.
ETA: no bites. All were crawling through the hairs ::shiver::
