[QUOTE=chaoticbear]
hope you at least got a good nap during it!

Wifey has a squished disk and subsequent pinched nerve somewhere around L5, so I feel, by proxy, your pain. My sympathies.

No napping. This was an upright MRI (a rare machine - there’s only about 100 in existence) - actually seated rather than standing, but the main idea is that the spine is weight-bearing while scanned, rather than laying down and able to stretch out.
I had an L5-S1 diskectomy in 2009 to treat sciatica and foot drop. The going theory is scar tissue has grown in there as the sciatica has returned with a vengeance.
Maybe if I can figure how to export DICOM images to JPEG, I might put up one or two samples.
It continues too damn hot here, and I still don’t feel like cooking, either food or myself. Hiding inside in the a/c and throwing up occasionally.
I am actually starting to worry about the weight loss. I’m down about ten pounds. I’m going to talk to the midwife about it, and in the meantime make milkshakes with nutella in them (100 calories a tablespoon!)
gotti, bummer! I’ve had two MRI’s and at least got to take a thousand-dollar-nap during each. My mom has had ongoing back problems from being rear-ended between 10 and 15 years ago, as I understand it, it’s awful. Something about vertebrae fusing together, which is bizarre to me. Good luck getting it back on track! (and NEATO that you got a copy of the images. I didn’t even ask for some reason.)
As I understand it, if the bony bits get injured, they’ll try to repair themselves. In an arm or a leg, that’s called healing. When it happens to neighboring bones in the spine, it’s called fusion. That appears to be what’s happening in my neck at C6-C7 where the vertebrae are so close together and apparently joined at the front (left side of pic). That “R” jammed into my chest doesn’t feel nice either.
Down by my butt, where the spine takes that 45-degree turn, that’s the L5-S1 joint. Ummm… what disc? It’s pretty obvious were the disc material is squishing into the nerves to the right. Also, it and the L4-L5 just above are dark, which means they’re dried out and inelastic. Looking upward, those funny edges of the vertebrae are Schmorl’s nodules - the disc material has left the disc and is invading the vertebrae. All together, it’s not a good spine.
Last night’s dinner was cheese ravioli in marinara sauce. Two of the German Pink tomatoes were ripe, so Culinary Boy diced one of them and put it in the sauce. It made it taste really good, like it didn’t come from a jar. (We got lazy about pasta sauce–at least until the 900,000 green Romas we have ripen.)
Eight more Hell Days at work before the majority of the annoying people leave. Next weekend is Bele Chere. Pray for my immortal soul, for lo, I live half a mile from downtown so the crazy will be far too close to me for my enjoyment. I’m a true local now. The words “Bele Chere” fill me with a dread that was previously reserved only for a blood test.
I am in a 12’x12’ room, a/c on high, door shut, and it’s still 85˚F in here. But compared to the 92˚F in the rest of the house I’d say I’m doing pretty well.
I don’t know anything about medical imaging, so your pictures just look like Rorschach tests to me. I think that second one is a goat, and the first one is a 404
I finally. FINALLY. got registered for the PTCE (the certification test for pharmacy technicians). I would have done it sooner, but my employer announced several months ago that starting July 1st, they’d drop the bonus from everyone’s paycheck for being certified (used to get an extra 2%) in whatever they do around the hospital, and instead give a one-time $1k bonus to people who took whatever test. So, rather than get an extra $0.25/hr for a few months, I figured I’d wait.
But the company who does the certification has the worst website ever, and has crashed every time I’ve tried to use it, until last night when it rejected my credit card. I called, and the woman said with some snark that “it rejected the first time, so I think it got put on fraud alert” and to “try again after 24 hours”. After my credit card got rejected at Waffle House today, I called them, and it turns out that since I never did the survey after calling to activate my card yesterday, MY CARD NEVER GOT ACTIVATED. :smack:
So, I’m $129 poorer, but hopefully a small bonus once I pass. My supremely intelligent cow-irkers have suggested that no one passes it without studying (hellOOO, doing my job IS studying!). I challenged them and facebook friends to make it interesting with a monetary bet, but no takers. ::sigh:
We have [del]fresh meat[/del] a n00b. I’ll provide the squid; who’s got the goat covered? Brick, there are also [del]bribes[/del] love offerings of beer and chocolate for various oldsters around here before we let you play full time.
My din-din was a spinach burger and some garlic knots from the local pizza/movie place. It was very good. I have been fortified with iron!
Katie Cat was very sweet to me earlier. She came in my room and demanded pettin’s for five whole minutes. She must have been lonely today. Right now she’s schmoozing with Computer Boy since he has the treats.
Hey Moooooom, I heard back from my friend. :
One GOOD way of restoring peace to a saltwater tank when a new arrival is
introduced, is to rearrange all the rockwork wholesale, so that everyone has to
find a new territory all over again. It’s why I encourage people to plan for
this, and arrange their rockwork in such a way that the final arrangement is
ONLY put in place once ALL the intended inhabitants are in the tank.
Hope this is helpful. He also says Flame Angels are pretty agressive fish, so once he gets some size on him things will be ok.
In other news, I tired. And I have to go help a friend move tomorrow, and I am moving our bedroom tonight. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
We got cheap Chinese (take-out) for dinner. It was yum!
I’m sleepy now. Mr Rebo is sleeping in his recliner. He drove over 12 hours today, poor baby. That San Antonio run is a bitch.
Wow - I’m watching 20-20 - the little girl that can sing opera is amazing! (She [del]is[/del] was on America’s Got Talent last season.)
Yay, I just heard from my friend who joined the Navy! She graduated from Basic last Friday and now she’s a Seaman snerk. Now I have to make the World’s Most Annoying Sailing Song CD for her.
mega grrrrrrrrr; I’d made all the phone calls earlier this evening telling the gals the gig was off - no sooner had I posted the above, I get an email stating a new location has been found and it’s still on. And the organizers expected me to call all my gals again AT 10:00PM to give them the new info!
What they should have done is in the first email, at 5pm, is told everyone “location to be changed - stand by for more info” instead of saying the whole thing was cancelled, thus generating several phone calls at a time when it’s reasonable to call - but not after 9pm! Unless someone died, that’s just too frakin’ late
