A Perfect Sunday - An Early MMP

::digs large hole. covers with tarp. waits, tapping fingers on table:: tap tap tap

Yeah, that’s sort of what I’m thinking on the house thing.

Healthy Taco Stuff
(Yeah, I’m in marketing but no, I’m no good at the creative naming thing.)
-1 lb ground turkey or other low-fat ground meat
-some brown rice (definitely no more than a cup uncooked, sometimes I use a little less than that, maybe 2/3rds cup), cooked
-1 med onion, chopped
-2 cloves garlic, minced
-1 green pepper, seeded and chopped
-1 packet taco seasoning (or 1/4 cup of the Penzey’s stuff) and the amount of water they say to use on the packet
-other seasonings: chopped jalepeno, chili powder, lots of cumin, some dried chipotle powder, etc. to taste.
-1 to 1 1/2 cups frozen corn (I measure it in a cereal bowl and use ~1 cereal bowl full.)

Brown turkey in a pan, adding onion and garlic when it’s almost cooked. Allow onions to soften a bit. When they’re good enough for you, add in taco seasoning and whatever other spices you choose (the more, the better here) and whatever water is supposed to go in with the taco seasoning. Stir until the water is mixed in well. Add green pepper and allow that to cook for a couple minutes until it’s your level of desired crispness/softness. Stir in cooked brown rice and corn. Cook until the corn is warm.

Serve with tortilla chips (or not to keep it healthier), low-fat shredded cheese or fat free sour cream (I like the sour cream better.), and salsa (the green kind goes really well).

Sounds yummy, taxi, thanks for sharing!

Some days I’m not so smart. Just noticed my left arm is kinda sore. Gee, maybe it’s cuz I got my flu shot there earlier this afternoon…?

::Looks around for LOUNE. Places apple pie on table in front of tarp-covered hole.::

Me too! What healthy mumpers we’ll be this winter!

Drive by: my grandbaby is here, and she brought her parents. They are staying until Thursday evening, so I will be playing with Little Miss as much as possible. Everyone be safe and have fun!

I sure hope so!!!

Hi, kai! So the grandbaby is driving now? Or perhaps piloting something that flies?

I hope the group helps, Jahdra. My grandmother was a hoarder (undiagnosed), but cleaning out her house was horrible, so I’m told.
I am making dinner. I had a semi-successful day doing some long needed things around the house. Funny how that list doesn’t get any shorter.
There is a zero balance in our checking account. This is not good, seeing as how we don’t get paid until NEXT Thursday. Great crash diet, though. (seriously, there is money in savings, but we hate to use that).
#1 son has the SEX retreat this weekend–just like daughter did 2 years ago. It seems like yesterday I did that MMP-my very first. <nostalgic sigh>
I have been strictly curtailing my chocolate and food intake the past week or so. I have not stepped on a scale (and won’t for a bit), but I feel better. Of course, I could never look better than I already do, so we all know it’s not about that…

I do something different re work lunches. I try to make enough so that I have leftovers for lunch the next day at work. If not, I pack a PBJ. I don’t buy sandwich meat anymore because Daughter is a veggie, sons #1 and 2 do not eat sandwiches (no, I don’t know why), so the deli meat tends to go bad before we eat it. I do wish upon occasion that I got organized enough to make some casseroles ahead of time and freeze them, but working PT, I don’t really need to.

Off to eat dinner. Ham, green beans and baked potatoes, if you must know.

I was right. Breakfast for supper was a good idea. YUM! I couldn’t go nap though. Now I’m feelin’ all tired and it’s too late to try a nap now cause I have to be at work at ten tonight for some stoopid safety training. I believe this month’s excitin’ topic is Confined Spaces. Basically the training will say don’t go into confined spaces unless you are authorized/licensed to do so but it takes thirty minutes to say that. But, hey, I get paid to hear it so I guess that’s not so bad.

Have fun with grandbaby kai! Make sure she’s good and rotten and waaaaaay off her schedule so’s her ‘rents can go through hell gettin’ her back into the routine when they get back home. You’re grandma, that’s your job.

 I never realized that swampus was the Uncle Arthur* of uncles.
You are just plain mean, sir!

*see Bewitched, the TV show.

Daughter’s Bday cake in the oven. Party (well, cake and card–she already got her presents) tomorrow at 7pm, CST.

cocks head to the side a little bit Pie?

gives LOUNE a gentle shove in direction of tarp, hand pie in after.

::runs around behind table (which is behind the tarp - yeah, I moved it so he’d have to step on the tarp tp get to the pie) with fan - sends pie aroma in LOUNE’s direction::

I forgot to mention that tonight’s ensemble is dark blue pocket t and blue jeans. I knew none of y’all would get any sleep until I mentioned it. No need to thank me.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Evenin’ everyone.

I’m sorry to hear about VWife’s hospital food woes. How much longer does she have to stay there?

Work was…okay. I’m glad, however, to be home.

Lissla, faraway friend is about 5 years older than my daughter. I still haven’t had a chance to talk to her yet about the mystery man/boy. Before I even had a chance to chat with her yesterday, she had gone to be.

I tried calling her from work today because I knew she’d be home early. However, the phone was up in her room, and she was downstairs, so she didn’t hear it.

I guess I better figure out the dinner thing.

Evening, everyone. Well, I was a good girl and worked hard all day, got the late job done. So what is my reward? First I get messengered out some congressional [del]drivel[/del] – well, drivel is appropriate in this case; they’re marking up a bill, which means everyone has to offer their pet amendments, which are voted down strictly along party lines.

And then ten minutes before that batch arrives? I get a desperate phone call. Can I do yet another chunk of another congressional [del]drivel session[/del] committee meeting? Because a bunch of people disappeared on her before she could stick them with the work. Oh yes, and it has to be done by tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., too.

Welcome to my all-nighter. :frowning:

Are we torturing LOUNE with pie? Excellent!

pounces pie from the side, narrowly avoiding the tarp

Silly boy–you missed the plate the pie sat on. It was really a release mechanism for the cage that is now dropping on your head.

<hollers>Anyrose! Come quick! We got 'im!<hollers>

Am off to bed soon. Husband is in a bit of a snit-no idea why (this is a lie–I just don’t want to share it here). He’ll get over it.

Birthday cake made. Uniform ironed. Lunch packed. Ready to face Thursday.

pouts and looks pathetic, holding a cell bar with one hand, holding pie with the other, sadly munching away

Well, at least you have pie.

Bother. I can’t find my work key. Since it’s always either in a pants pocket, the junk tray beside the door, or my purse, I’m worried. Losing keys makes me (more) neurotic. I hope it turns up before work tomorrow. I hope OQD didn’t pick it up, fiddle with it, and drop it somewhere. She does stuff like that, and if she did, it’s lost forever.
I did not hit Whiny Idiot Co-Worker in the head with a hammer. I thought about it. Admire my restraint.

Oh, and Mr. Lissar just got his hair buzzed off. It’s… very different. And sort of scrub-brush-y.

You are a more patient woman than I, LiLi.

I tried taking Olive outside today, on a harness. She was terrified. Slightly curious. Mostly terrified. I think I’m going to try taking her outside a little bit every day and see if she gets used to it.

Halloween party on Saturday at my place! Any of y’all wanna come?
