A Perfect Sunday - An Early MMP

Well, the down side to going to heaven is that all the crazy, right-wing fundamentalist types will be there. (Or at least think they will.) Who’d want to spend eternity with THEM?  :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course. Who’d want to be a member of any club that’d have her as a member? (to paraphrase and torture Groucho Marx). For my mother, it’s not just the fundies, but also the fact that her MIL woud be there (maybe) that discounts heaven for her.

Obviously heaven is right out. Surely there is another, more exclusive heaven for our mothers…

I get to start Arabic classes tonight. Yay me.

**SCL **and **VBob **-- please report. Preferably success, please!

{{{Nashii}}}, {{{Li-li}}}

**Rigs **and Taxi, since **Roo **remains AWOL, I’ll quote a few lyrics from Billy Joel:

They say there’s a heaven for those who will wait
Some say it’s better but I say it ain’t
I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
the Sinners are much more fun…

It is beyond gorgeous here today. Mid-70s, light breeze, blue skies – what’s not to like? Except the fact that I have zero motivation to do anything except sleep. I almost fell asleep in front of my computer a little while ago; after taking the dogs out to play, I’m a little less groggy, but I’m still kinda useless. Apparently I’m suffering the effects of too much fun this weekend. :frowning:

Why Arabic classes, LOUNE? What are you going to be doing with the language?

yawn, stretch I went home sick from work. I think I have Teh Sick. *curls up in a blanket on the couch.

I have the dullest work project I am currently avoiding by reading the MMP and drinking wine…in my defence it is almost 9.30PM It just took me 4 attempts to type defence…maybes this is an obligatory drunken post…

Weirdness, because my mother’s name is Virginia!
**ems[B/] are you still in UK?
Sorry about the sickies (not to be confused with sickos). I must start dinner soon. I folded some laundry and put it away. Do I win a prize?

Rigs, sure you can have a prize. Directs you to the prize closet.

LOUNE, why are you learning arabic?

It’s official. I have Teh Sick. goes and sits in the sick corner.

That was the quote I used in the yearbook my senior year of high school…

Interview went well; I go back in tomorrow for some testing. So I guess the crossed appendages can be relaxed for the night, but need to be crossed again tomorrow.

I forgot I was out of cat litter. I have fuzzbutts giving me “The Look” but there isn’t anything I can do until tomorrow, all the feed n seeds close to here shut down at 5.

I found out today I get Friday off. This doesn’t bother me at all, money crunch or not. Last week I worked a couple of extra-long days that will make up for it nicely.

A lot of the leaves blew away over the weekend. There’s still some around, but plants are dying at a remarkable rate up here about now. Winter is not far off! Apparently spring, summer and autumn are fairly short up here.

All you with Teh Sick have my sympathy as long as you stay well away from me. The same goes for dogs with it; we had a dog come in for daycare that had full-blown kennel cough, from the sound of it. He came in, he coughed and hacked, his owner was told that no way could he stay and he needed to get to the vet. It was all very diplomatic, since the owner is a friend of The Boss, but I went and washed my hands because I’d already touched the dog. I do not want any dogs spreading doggie diseases around my friends!

Mid-70s sounds oddly warm to me. I don’t know why, except that my brain must be saying, “Oh, yes, actual seasons. This is the way it’s supposed to be! October is supposed to be chilly!”

It’s good to have more knowledge. I think that there’s also a market for bilingual people, especially those two languages (English and Arabic). Also, this would be the place in America to learn it, due to ygr high Arab population. I’m learning it at the mosque, too.

The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] took two semesters of Arabic. She would have gone further but that’s all they offered at UCF. I don’t think it hurt her application for her homeland security grant position with FDLE. Good thinkin’ loune

VBob - the only reason I haven’t posted prayers is I KNOW everything will go smoothly and the physical terrorists will hav VWife out of bed and hobbling around in no time.

My mom spent more time with me during the leearning phase of my driving career, because wheneve my dad took me out to practice, we invariably ended up in a fight. He was of the “do as I say, not as I do” school and often violated the simplest of driving common senses - things I was told in Driver Ed to never, ever do in any circumstances - and there was Dad doing them but he’d never had so much as a fender bender so did the teacher lie? or was Dad just lucky?
I don’t think I could teach anyone how to drive. Not because I don’t have the patience for it (which I don’t) but because they’d be questioning me the way I questioned Dad

LOUNE - Lawn Guylandt is filling up with all variety of Middle Easterners these days. It’s a little unnerving, especially in the formerly predominantly Jewish areas.

The goal is to be fluent. I may invest in the Rosetta Stone software as well, but I’ll have tons of opportunities to practice if I want.

I also need to brush up my Spanish, too. Harumph.

I don’t want to even go anywhere near Jewish/Arab relation problems. They’re therel. They exist, and I’ve heard them firsthand.

Whew … finally able to post, and I read all the posts too! Well, at least I skimmed em, honest.

Very nice OP, Jahdra; good luck at your new job, btw, it all sounds good. The weekend here was very nice, although we do need rain.

Thinking good thoughts for you, SCL and hoping that your interview went well! Hah, I guess your kitties are sitting there with their legs crossed about now, though, aren’t they?!

Hope that VonderWife is doing well, and that BBBobbio has been at her side.

LiLi, sending happy thoughts your way too; so sorry that you’re having throw-up problems still. :frowning: If ginger ale isn’t helping, try coca cola, especially if you can find some with the coke syrup (like from a soda fountain); I’ve heard that coke syrup is good at soothing nausea, but have no personal experience with it.

Hope things are going well for FCM too! Maybe her hotel has a computer or two in a work center!

Okay, is it Friday yet?

I have successfully wasted an entire Monday. I had all these high hopes for the day, taking advantage of an approved day off to accomplish things that cannot be done on Sundays. Did I do any of them? or even things that could have been done Sunday but weren’t? No. Hand me my Schlub Queen Crown now, please. There is no contest.

Coca Cola syrup helps a little bit, but then you have to worry about all of your rotten teeth falling out of your mouth!

tashii, I guess I know a little bit where you’re coming from. My SO and I aren’t engaged or anything, but our discussions about marriage have made it part of the 5 year plan. Some days that seems like an awful long time.

Today was a good day here. There was a food show up near Cleveland where we ate to our hearts’ content. And found a few new things to order, too.
**
anyrose**… What I find works best for me is to figure out what there is to do that I like doing even less than the tasks that are at hand. It worked out for me this morning when I actually looked forward to sitting down and pricing out recipes because it meant I didn’t have to do dishes.

Happy Monday, everyone.

What a nice, relaxing OP, Jahdra. I have no kitties, but I’ve spent lots of time curled up reading lately. Wish it would cool off a bit so that it would really feel like fall; we’ve been on extended summer since…well, summer. It’s supposed to be a bit cooler this week, but rainy, of course. I want cool weather with sun, please!

Wish the throwing up would stop, LiLi. Sounds like no fun. On the other hand, it will probably help you survive tinyninjachef’s teen years.

Prayers and good thoughts headed out toward VWife. IIRC, Bobbio said he wouldn’t give us an update till Tuesday.

Glad the interview went well, SCL. Hope the testing does too!

Hope you’re feeling cheerier soon, nashi.

Learning Arabic sounds interesting, LOUNE. Glad you’re taking advantage of the opportunity.

There was more, but I’m getting sleepy. Yes, my schedule has shifted. At least I’m sleeping better now.

Off to read for a while…
