A Perfect Sunday - An Early MMP

Why did this **ems[B/] not bold for me? I swear the internet is one big mystery.

(maybe because I did it backwards? I have no brain left).

Dinner is done–pork chop, popovers and carrots. I am full.

Just got a call from the driving school. It sounds more complicated than it is, but what the hey. Must put together all the stuff tonight. They’re only open from 4-6pm, M-Th. How inconvenient is that?

I finished my homework for the week. Yay! Daughter turns 18 on Thursday. Kind mixed feelings about that, but overall I’m glad. And she got named to the All-Star Team (State) for Field Hockey. Yippee!

Hope all with Teh Sick get better. Here’s some chicken soup. <slides bowl into whatever it is you slide stuff into>

WHY DO MY STUDENTS NEVER LISTEN WHEN I TELL THEM THEIR HOMEWORK? WHYYYYYYYY?!?!?! :: bangs head repeatedly on desk ::

On a happier note, here’s me and Olive.

Get-well kisses for all you sickies. Blown from a safe distance, of course.

<keels over from cuteness of pic>

She got healthy fast! She looks like she likes you.

I dunno why your students don’t listen–perhaps you need to look more intimidating? Drop your voice an octave and bark at them, ala bootcamp seargant. (how do you spell seargent? Neither way looks right).

Tis raining. I’m sleepy.

s-a-r-g-e-a-n-t

Evenin’! For once, the MMP hasn’t grown to its fourth page by Monday evening, so I don’t feel intimidated by it.

These are some awful cute cat stories floating around (and a very adorable photo, Haze!). I’ve always thought having a cat would be nice, but since my dad’s allergic to them and my apartment doesn’t allow them, there’s no chance of that happening anytime soon. Ah well.

{{nashii}} For the record, I think your marriage is very special, whether it’s way out on the horizon or years in the past. Being able to make the promise of that commitment in the first place is incredible, and is hopefully one of the best things in your life.

Bleah. Anxiety is Teh Suck. I thought my anxiety spell would be over once I got my dental problem solved and got past the midterm exams and papers, but no such luck. Making myself feel sick and scared all the time is not fun at all. :frowning: I’m taking a trip with me mum upstate this weekend though, maybe getting away and vacationing for a couple days will help.

Hmm, that’s about it. Dinner tonight included scrambled eggs, toast and applesauce. That’s more cooking than what I normally do. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just spent the weekend in our cabin (pretending to be hunting, but actually just hanging around) and the furnace is this weird device that pumps heated liquid and heats the floor. While I’ve known this for years, I just realized why I dislike it. Stepping out of bed onto a heated floor is nice, but the sound of a furnace firing up and sending a blast of warm air is one of those things that makes me feel safe. I miss the sound of them starting up all summer, and even though the fireplace and floor heat keep the cabin nice and toasty, it’s just not right without that sound at about 2:00AM.

Feared I was coming down with a cold or something, but apparently not. All the rest of you have my sympathies. I hate being sick (big shock, eh?), but not as much as I hate my family being sick. I’d rather have the flu than see my wife or kids with even a mild cold. I’m perfectly willing to OD on cold meds until I either feel better or pass out, but I won’t do that to the kids.

Watched Casablanca yesterday because it was snowing with 20 mph winds and I don’t want an elk bad enough to go out in that. Especially since I’m fairly sure there aren’t any elk in that area anyway.

HazelNutCoffee, I can’t decide which of you is cuter.

Gah. I think I have to give up my title as English language nitpicker and general all around good speller…
:smack: I seriously think I’m destined for Alzeimer’s. haha, funny and all that, but I’m serious! Can’t remember stuff; can no longer spell; have forgotten most rules of grammar–when did I become illiterate?
<goes off into corner and cries, hanging head in shame>
I think I’ll take a bubble bath. Bubble bath and book. Yes!

Ooh, heated floors. That’s how the heating works in Korea. I had mixed feelings about it - it was nice and toasty but sometimes the floor would get so hot that we couldn’t go around with bare feet.

And thanks for the compliment. Olive and I frequently argue with each other over who is cuter. :stuck_out_tongue:

rigs, I think you may be confusing Olive with Biddy. Biddy was the shaven sickly cat that Cloud Maiden got. Olive was an energetic fuzzball from Day 1. Biddy is now cone-collar-free and her fur is growing back in nicely. I’ll post a pic of her when it becomes more noticeable so you guys can be surprised at her progress.

Ummmm…it’s SERGEANT. At least that’s how they spell it in the the US Army.

Very nice OP, Jahdra. I like the smell of fall; the smell of the leaves, the smell of the woodsmoke from woodstoves and fireplaces, and that fresh, kind of crisp smell on a frosty morning.

I’m sending best wishes to Vunderwife and fingers crossed for SCL.

Haze, in that picture, your cat looks just like a cat we used to have named Bo-Bo Kitty. We just called him Bo-Bo. However, he had seven toes on his back paws and six toes on his front paws. He was the biggest love, and the silliest thing to boot.

I spent the weekend doing a lot of nothing as well. Oh, I managed to do some laundry, and ran a couple of errands, but that’s about all I did.

My Dad called me on Saturday to tell me he and my step-mother had returned from Europe. It sounded like he had a very nice trip. The went Belgium and various parts of Germany. They even went to my Oma’s old house in Dollnstein and took a picture of it.

I guess I should think about what we’re having for dinner. Frankly, I’m not all that hungry, but **Mr. Taters ** would be unhappy if didn’t cook some sort of dinner up.

rigs, my daughter turns 18 on January 4th. In most respects, I’m glad to see her grown and delighted with her personality and the person she has become. However, it does make me feel sort of old, and makes me just slightly melancholy because I swear it was just yesterday she was barely toddling around the house and babbling away in her tiny little voice.

Off to forage for chop-chop.

Drive-by post. Two pages already?

VWife is now in the bionic club. Surgery was roughly 5 hours for both knees, and went well. She was an almost perfect fit for the gender specific joint. Doctor was appalled by the condition of her affected bone, and said she’ll probably feel better sooner than the regular knee patient.

She was bitching when I left the horsepistol, so she’s doing fine. More tomorrow when I have a good keyboard.

Yay on VundyVife!

And I now know how to spell sergeant! (just to be safe, I looked it up). Onward…

Bath done–no bubbles. Poo. Am sneezing like a crazy person–it better not be Teh Sick.

I have started Xmas shopping–anyone else?
Hazelnut-I realized that as soon as I posted, but she still looks great.

Rigs, I have started Christmas shopping. We have all 6 of the littles done. (Nieces and nephews), my husband is done (the big little kid), and we have a couple various gifts for other people.

On that note I’m going to crawl into bed. Night night all.

Just wait a while, VBob – could be a few months, maybe longer, it’s probably different for everybody – and she’ll have a moment where she forgets completely about her knees for a few minutes, like what happened to MT while she was dancing! And it all will have been worth it. You didn’t hear MT’s voice when she told me about it on the phone! former PT [del]slavedriver[/del] coach pats herself on the back

In the meantime, make sure she stays on top of her pain meds and does her PT. It really does work, even though it’s no fun at all.

Yay for VWife!

I’ve been playing “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” on the guitar today. Nice song.

Yay for VWife! Thanks for checking in, Bobbio.

Haze, maybe you just need a gang of us MMPers to threaten your students into paying attention? We’re quite influential, you know.

And yes, that is a very cute picture of both of you.

Other than the part where this year’s stocking stuffer/miscellaneous gift is Bacon Salt, I got nuttin’ done for Christmas. Well, except my friend (who is practically done with her shopping) found something perfect for our boss. So that’s done.

My brother called about 1/2 an hour ago and completely woke me up. I had been reading and apparently fell asleep. Next thing I know…phone is ringing and I need to get to it. Quite disorienting. And now, of course, I’m quite awake.

Back to reading.

What the world needs now, is beer, more beer
That’s the only thing, that I want, right here
What the world needs now, is beer more beer
No, not just for me but for everyone here.

No, we don’t need another Chill drink
There is citrus, and bad ale enough for everyone.
There is Bud Light and coolers for all the girls

:: ran out of lyrics ::

haze, your Olive looks remarkably like my Sugar Magnolia. Both of you are beautiful!

Hurrah for VWife! I think I mentioned my brother-in-law had both his done at once and said it was the smartest thing he’d ever done (aside from marrying my sister in law).

I was terribly sleepy at 4:00; it’s now 10:30 and I’m wide awake. Damn insomnia.

I’m nervous about the testing tomorrow; I hate tests I can’t study for.

Rigs, I have actually bought one Christmas gift - starting this early is unusual for me. I saw a cookbook I think Librarian Friend will like, so I went ahead and got it for her.

I’m off to read a bit in hopes of getting sleepy.

And, uh…of course :: hanging drunken head in shame for forgetting ::

Yay for Vunderfrau!!!

Home, hockey went well, Canes got 3 goals and three fights.

Cats are evil.

Yay for Vunderwife!!!

:recrosses appendages for SCL:

{{{{tashii}}}}

Great song, MBG! You should have Haze do the music.

Haze, you and Olive are both cute. Is she the other reindeer?

Good luck LOUNE!!!

[hazmat suit]{{{{{sickies}}}}}[/hazmat suit]

SCL, they could be twins! Olive even does that same expression!
