I put it in coffee, but you’d have to pay me to drink it plain. And you’d have to pay me fast, because my ass would rupture shortly afterwards.
Milk has no fear of going bad in my house.
I grew up on skim, but my wife grew up on 2%. We’ve compromised on 1%, but I know that it is still sending my cholesterol through the roof.
For those of you who don’t drink milk, what do you pour over your cereal?
Generally, I don’t eat cereal. If I do eat cereal, I put in just enough that the cereal is barely dampened. Like, a couple tablespoons.
What is this…pouring you speak of?
Many of us apparently eat it dry. ![]()
It takes all kinds, I guess. ![]()
Your uncooked instant oatmeal idea from that thread has me intrigued. I definitely have to try that.
Dry cereal only, thanks! And no sugared cereals, only stuff like Cheerios and Shredded Wheat.
I drink about a half a liter of 2% a day.
I understand what it’s like to hate milk. I hated it as a kid and once in a while I am off milk and don’t know why I ever saw in it. But probably over the whole course of my life I have been mostly a milk drinker.
Nope, it tastes yucky to me. Back when I was a kid I forced myself to drink it because I thought it was good for me ( and Mom told me to ), but even then I took it like medicine. Drink it fast, and drink something else to wash out the taste.
At least two glasses a day. I love the stuff. I love cheese too, or anything dairy for that matter.
I used to pour tons of milk in my coffee; I’d go through a 2-litre jug of milk in about 3 days. Recently, though, it came to my attention that I’m somewhat lactose-intolerant. I’ll still have food with dairy from time to time; cheese on a sandwich doesn’t really affect me, and sometimes I’ll have pizza despite the digestive consequences later (even lactase pills aren’t fool-proof in this case). I don’t actually drink milk, though. When I tried cutting dairy out of my diet entirely to see the difference it made, I grew fond of not having to worry about keeping milk on hand. Now I just stock up on Coffee-Mate, which keeps for about a year and a half.
I eat my cereal dry. I prefer Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, or Cap’n Crunch.
I do. For a while I didn’t, and then I started getting the ‘lactose free’ milk in the supermarket.
In fact, I still love milk with quik strawberry syrup as a sweet treat.
To cut calories to help lose weight I now mainly drink water or diet soda (very rarely have juice and occasionally milk). I mainly use milk on cereal or in cooking/baking. Sometimes I’ll get a craving and have a nice cold glass to drink.
I usually buy skim milk, but I don’t mind 1%. I find skim milk to be more refreshing, whereas 2% or higher just seems like cream to me.
Edited to add: I use milk on cereal, but sometimes I’ll eat cereal dry, or mix it with flavored yogurt or dessert tofu. Yum.
http://www.straightdope.com/columns/030321.html Milk not good for you.
That’s not what I gathered from that column. Anyway, here’s a link, albeit not very reputable, that milk is good for you in moderation: Link.
Yes, because I eat cereal most mornings.
But I can’t tolerate more than 8 ounces at a time since apparantly I’m lactose intolerant. I discovered this recently when I downed a big bottle of Quick strawberry milk. Shortly afterwards, my stomach looked like I was incubating some strange alien, and I was in so much pain I wanted to die. The same thing happens when I drink milkshakes. But that doesn’t stop me from taking sips from the milk carton whenever I pass the refrigerator.
Yep! whole milk by the glass and on cereal, never in my coffee.
Dry, baby.
It doesn’t always have to be wet to eat it.
I don’t even know if I’m talking about cereal anymore…
Yes - usually drink a pint a day.
