A poll: Do you drink Milk?

Haven’t had milk in years since I went on Atkins… Although I’ve had 35% Cream almost daily - in coffee, whipped for dessert, etc… does that count?

When I used to drink large quantities of alcohol, I went through a quart or two every day. Sometimes I would wake up in the middle of the night extremely thirsty and dehydrated, and there was nothing that tasted better than a whole quart of skim milk in one big gulp.

Now I pretty much just use it with my cereal, although I can easily go through a half a box of cereal in a day as well. Also, banana flavored milk and strawberry flavored milk are both wonderful.

berff, that reminds me of Rudy’s house of flavored milk at the Minnesota State Fair. When I was a milk drinking kid it was one of my favorite places. He would have the normal chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and banana; but then it got interesting with various fruit flavors and I think there was even peanut butter. My favorite was blueberry.

I moved away from Minnesota in 1989, and have not been to the MSF since. But if Rudy is still there, you love milk, and you happen to be in St. Paul during the fair, look it up.

I do, but only ice cold, and only with certain foods.

Yes. Tasty, & a nice snack.

Plus, there’s my secret stash of Ovaltine…

Yes. 2% – higher or lower % tastes wrong. And it’s a bit too chalky if I’m not drinking it along with eating something. But every morning for cereal (Raisin Bran Crunch!) and with dinner. Plus maybe yogurt at lunch.

I can easily understand why some people might not like the taste of milk. What I can’t understand is how some people like the taste of coffee. Blech. If I wanted bitter and nasty I’d just go chug down some of the reagents at work. Even wonderful milk can’t save that.

Soy milk only, usually the vanilla stuff, and even then just on cereal. I’ll have a glass of chocolate soy milk every now and then.

Yeah, milk’s gotta be ice cold. I don’t like it even 20 degrees below room temp.

Chocolate milk, chai, and milk heavy coffee drinks, yes. Plain milk? no.

I find it unpleasant tasting. Plus, I’m moderately lactose intolerant, so there really is no upside to having a glass of the stuff.

As to the cereal question? I do put milk on cereal when I eat cereal. But since I don’t eat breakfast every morning, and if I did, it wouldn’t necessarily be cereal, I don’t buy cereal because the milk would go bad before I used it all and that would be wasteful.

Nope, not anymore.

I used to love the stuff, and drink maybe a litre a day. Then I moved to Moscow, where the vast majority of milk is UHT (= chemicals in a box) and had to give it up.

Why do you ask? See, another seemingly mundane question that can be added to the secret dossiers being compiled on us.

Milk? What’s milk?

I love milk, especially a glass of whole milk with a PB sandwich or big brownie. But I’m trying to cut calories, so I drink a lot less of it now and when I do, it’s 1% or skim (and no PB or brownie :frowning: )

I drink two glasses of skim milk a day. Once at breakfast and another glass in the evening, typically after a hard day of cycling. I find that it helps me recover after hard exertions and is a quick way to fill the stomach. I’ve found that it helps me to lose weight since my appetite goes way down after I down a glass.

Just over a gallon per week

Nope. I don’t drink it, but I do cook with it.
I just don’t like the flavor of milk or ice cream.
I do love and worship cheese.
My not liking milk has nothing to do with the fact that it comes from cow boobies, either.

I like it, but I don’t drink it. Back when I had my first son, I didn’t have much money for a while, so all the milk was for him. Now I’m in the habit of “the milk is for the kids,” so my husband and I almost never drink it. We could afford to now, but it’s just habit, and we feel guilty, as if we’re taking milk away from our children.

No… I’ve been successfully weaned!

I’ve disliked it since I was a kid, and now (perhaps as a result?) I’m lactose intolerant.

I do pour lowfat soy milk over cereal. I’ve never drunk coffee any way but black since my teens.

Although I just realized today I really enjoy drinking lassi, especially when I’m having curry.

Real Cheese doesn’t have lactose left, it’s the part that’s fermented.

No, although I’ll put it on cereal. And I occasionally have a glass of Ovaltine. More often than not, I drink soymilk.

I hate the taste of it and always have.
