A Reluctant Rescue, A Papillon MMP

Really bad night, and so far horrible morning. I’m going back to sleep.

Higgs woke at 5:30, so I left **FCD **to sleep in, fed the dog, then dog, Taz, and I settled on the recliner to snooze for the next 90 minutes. I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer right now and I’m about to get out some butter to soften for molasses cookies - that’s today’s agenda. I may mix up some snickerdoodles also and bake them tomorrow.

Beyond that, no real plans. We’ll just take things as they come.

Happy Saturday!

Rare day to sleep in…so of course I was up early.
Sari, if Doggio was sober (yeah, I know, when hippopotami fly!) he might have suggested relocating said daid mouse to next to Sah-kid’s bed; this would ensure Sah-kid learned daid mouse removal techniques. ::eevil smiley::
Congratumalations on the new job, Swampy!!!

For those of you who haven’t heard, Williard Scott is retiring; is there anyone in this country more qualified to do centenarian b-day greetings than our unofficial mumper b-day [del]screecher[/del] warbler???

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 80 and sunny for the day. Today’s big chore is to rake/mulch leaves in the front yahd. It won’t be a real big chore but needs to be done. I shall wait until late mornin’/early afternoon to do so bein’ as ‘tis all wet out there. The boyz are comin’ over around five to eat and we shall have the annual viewin’ of A Tuna Christmas. It’s our favorite holiday classic!

OK, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, well, onward into the day!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

blurf

Up, caffeinated, closing again tonight.

swampy, enjoy the play. But remeber, you can tune a piano ,but you can’t tuna fish.

rosie, hope Morning 2.0 will be better.

Playing in a concert tonight. My fist concert with the band I joined recently. Let’s hope my slightly-wild alto clarinet will be tame enough.

Smart-ass server at the cafe - when I ordered an omelet, he said they were out of eggs. :stuck_out_tongue: I guess we’re really regulars now, if the staff is abusing us! But, yeah, we’re regulars. We’ve been going there since they opened, if not weekly, at least twice a month, often more,

On the way home, we stopped at Food Lion - I wanted some half-n-half so I can make a couple of quiches. They had chuck roast on sail, so I got one, and cut it in half. One piece is in the freezer and the other is in the crock pot. Many veggies will be added later.

Butter is out softening for cookies, all the laundry is on the line, and shortly I will open the house - it’s supposed to get close to 70° today! Dec 12 - weird…

Happy Saturday!

It’s warm out for December.

So far the day is going well. I called the MD Exchange and was on hold for only 45 minutes or so. I was so startled when I got a person was a bit discombobulated for a bit. She reset my account for me - they selected for me because I was taking too long, even though the deadline is not until Tuesday. Whatever. I wanted to keep the same provider but just get a different plan and surprise surprise there was no wait on that call. Yesterday when I called I was number 20 in line with an expected wait of 57 minutes.
hope I made the right choice.

I cleaned up the dead mouse last night but I told Sah-son he’s got to get over being squeamish. He does do all the heavy stuff around here though, the vacuuming, mowing, shoveling, etc. I do all the dirty stuff, like cleaning toilets and picking up dead mice.
Spidey if I put a dead mouse next to his bed you’d be hearing his screaming all the way up to where you are.
I don’t know how I got such a squeamish kid, I blame it on my mother.

Still waiting for his art professor to get his grades out there.

::sigh::

This is so why I love my family.

My cousin’s party is today- I never got an invitation, have no idea where she lives, don’t know her phone number, don’t know what time to be there.
I know I am invited

Anyway, kind of slipped my mind
My mother just called to remind me at 12:35
The party starts at 2, it’s a 2 hour drive to get there, haven’t even showered yet - so the absolute earliest I will get there is 3:30, and with this bunch the party will probably be over by 4, for sure by 5.

Now my mother is mad at me because I am probably not going to go.

I’m torn, I really want to go but at this point it doesn’t seem worth it.

Waiting for Sah-son to get out of the bathroom so I can get in there. Maybe I’ll go.

Happy Sattidy.

I owe hubby big time. He just took a van full of 12 year old girls to the aquarium. (He has reinforcements. My mom and his both going too.). My daughter’s birthday party. I woke up with migraine and he offered to manage it. I shall have to do something nice for him.

Otherwise, took my meds and back to bed. Good news is this isn’t everyday anymore. Progress!

**sari **- I wouldn’t go, but then I’m an old grouch…

Molasses cookies are mixed and in the fridge. I didn’t get out enough butter for the snickerdoodles, so I need to wait for one more stick to soften before I mix them up. Tomorrow, bakeage will ensue. Today, just mixage. And I’ll probably clean the kitchen because already there’s flour in places there shouldn’t be flour.

Also, Sari, probably not worth going, unless they can see you for more than 30 minutes. Lots of driving for not much visiting. Maybe you can schedule a visit for another time?

Blurf
Yes, I did just wake up. Why?

Bleah. Gotta wake up to go take that test.

What’s today, Saturday? What’s that mean?

Another fucking day when some asshole tries to kill Tugig (pedestrian version).

So today’s mission included a visit to the post office to mail 2 cards and pick up a package. It being Saturday in December I knew it would be packed, so I decided to park on the street half a block away instead of in their parking lot.

I went in and was served very quickly (yay Post Office!) because they had a separate line for non sales transactions. So I was out the door in four minutes, and as I headed into the lot I saw a long line of people cued to exit onto the street. For this reason I detoured over to the official crosswalk to make clear my intention of crossing.

When I got to the entrance I stopped and allowed a pickup to exit (because there was a break in the traffic that would not be there if I had proceeded). With the pickup gone I proceeded to cross. It was at this point a lady in an Acura SUV approached from my right. I thought she was just moving up but was surprised to see her accelerate at me as if to roll right out after the pickup.

Over the years I have obtained a very loud voice when needed, used to get attention in noisy places. Today, caught off guard, all I managed was a garbled “AAAAAAHRGH!!!” but it was damn loud. She skidded to a stop with her tire resting against my left foot. Had it been my right foot she would have been on top of it.

She looked up, shocked, and mouthed ‘sorry’. Because she had actually stopped, because I wasn’t hurt I could not in good conscience hit the car or scream at her. I did bellow “Fuck!” quite loudly as I walked away just as a stress reliever, and continued on my way.

I think I’ll stay at home and hide the rest of the day.

On an unrelated note for all of us who have trouble getting to sleep. I would not have said I have insomnia or the like, but I don’t sleep as much as I should. Last week when I visited the doctor for my kidney stone I ended up getting blood tests. I was okay pretty much across the board, except for a lack of vitamin D (which didn’t surprise me, I’ve had that problem before). So yesterday when I went grocery shopping I picked up a bottle of vitamin D supplement to take with dinner.

When I took one last night I was knocked out within a half hour, and slept solidly for 10 hours. An internet search seemed to indicate that a lack of vitamin D may exacerbate insomnia, and taking it may help one sleep. So I pass along the info, and anecdote, for anyone to use at will.

I’ll let everyone know how it’s working in a week or two.

Happy Saturday y’all.

Howdy Y’all! I deleafed the yahd. Go Me! It only took me a little over an hour and because it’s warmish out, I even worked up a little sweat. Oh My!

gigity dang! Maybe you should wear a bright orange vest when you’re walkin’ around. Or maybe not. That might be seen as a target.

MOOOOOM just exactly what is a sail roast? :stuck_out_tongue:

**swampy **- it’s what sailors eat, naturally. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s really my fault for missing the party, I knew it was coming- but an invitation would have helped because I would have had the information beforehand. I should have called my mother yesterday.

And yes FCM - I’m kind of a grump too when it comes to parties and such. I always have a good time once I’m there - it’s the getting there that is such a pain.

Glad you are ok 2Gig.

I had some vitamin D here, used it all though so maybe I should buy some more.

I need something to help with concentration and my irritability. Everything pisses me off.
Good luck on the test Nettie.

As a woman I’m facing a serious crisis.

My hairdresser is retiring!

We’ve been together almost thirty six years. She first did my hair in February of 1980. See, I got divorced in December of 1979, and had fairly long hair because that’s how my ex had liked it. I last saw him in February of 1980 at the real estate office where we were signing papers to sell our house. So before that I went and got my hair whacked off into a short bob, so the last time the schmuck ever saw me it was with short hair.

This is awful! I suppose I could stay with the same salon and pick another hairdresser there, but I followed Debby through two moves and two salons. Ack.
