It has been a very tough week for me too. I am sort of at a standstill so may go home early.
Tomorrow is hubs birthday and we were planning to to to the Brazilian steakhouse but it has been closed for two years so that’s out. We will have to go somewhere else.
We have been invited to our Doctor’s house for a Casino Party on New Year’s Eve. That is our anniversary (32 years) but we may go. We have always made a point to stay home that night.
Can you believe it - the little asshole is parked on my parking pad again.
Tow truck is on it’s way!
Sorry about your card FCM
Well that was quick didn’t even get to finish this post.
Different car (they all look alike to me but the tow truck driver knows the difference) and it is gone now. I even had parked diagonally across the parking pad and they still squeezed in.
Smokeage is now complete. The <snerk> butts! <snerk> have been taken off the smoker, triple wrapped in heavy duty foil, and are settin’ on the kitchen counter coolin’ down. Once they are sufficiently cooled down they along with a bunch of the chikin shall go in da freezer for future usage.
Midget hope everything gets straightened out soonest with your credit card.
Sari yay for snaggin’ one! Maybe that’ll be a lesson to others.
Midget and FCM, you got me so paranoid I just checked my cards, just to be safe (charges are correct).
About 1230 today the power went out in our buildings and the surrounding ones, we could see (I’m on the 3rd floor several power company trucks working on it, and after 90 minutes of schepping around in the dark (using the bathroom in pitch-black conditions is a…interesting…experience), they finally let us go home, since the power folks were saying it would be another 2-3 hours before they got whatever was wrong fixed.
So I am doing my afternoon SDMB posting from my own house, wearing my comfortable clothes.
So knock knock knock on my door, guy wants to know where his car is.
I feel bad for him, he was visiting the neighbors and they told him to park in the back.
He seems like a nice guy.
Told him I’m sorry he got caught up in it, and I told him I’m sorry but it’s my property and nobody should be telling him to park there and even if it is partly on their side it still crosses over into my side and I’m not having it with people blocking me in and throwing trash on my parking pad.
Home at last! I got a 13# turkey, 20 cans of dog food (they were on sale, plus I had a coupon if I bought 20) plus some ice cream. **FCD **is snoozing. I’m about to check all our bills to make sure everything gets paid.
Half a day left on my first week back in the orifice. Not sure what to say about it, other than the office moved while i was gone, so that’s new. The company re-organized, so my team is new. A whole bunch of additional people quit, so that’s new (and sad that I missed some good-byes, although many called me). My role is unclear, but vaguely in the area of what I was doing before. I have a few projects, but otherwise have been sorting through all of my email and other fun projects. (Only 4500 or so to go.)
Hubby and I have started discussing our general dissatisfaction with the current situation we’re in. He’s not thrilled with his job situation either. Not sure yet where this will all lead, but we’re considering a lot of things, including moving back to Oregon (where we still have a house). I would not mind that outcome at all. The Bay Area is a giant metropolis of wall-to-wall urbanity that stretches 80 miles or more. It’s unbelievably expensive. Quality of life just sucks, basically. We’ll see.
Sunny sounds like moving back is the way to go. Just my two cents.
I was looking over my financials and noticed a charge for 1100 dollars that I know I did not spend (this is irk). Drilled down on it and it’s for a different facility. Well, I want it fixed. I don’t condone “creative accounting” which is probably what this is or a mistake.
I want it fixed. Screws up my budget otherwise.:rolleyes::eek: Sunny We have some friends that move to that SF Bay area a couple yrs ago. They had to move back to FL as the cost of living was just out of their reach. Couldn’t find a rental when the one they were in was sold.
Dindin has been consumed, comestibles bound for the freezer are now in the process of gettin’ frozen. OYKW is preparin’ him a bath and I just had a beerverage. All is good.
sunny here’s hopin’ what ever hubby and you decide turns out for the best.
sari maybe he’ll go after the neighbors for tellin’ him to park there. Maybe now the neighbors will no not to tell people to part there. They need to learn.
My happy mommy moment - Sah-son got A’s in three of his four classes. He has an A in art, but a bunch of stuff hasn’t been graded yet - like a test from 8 weeks ago, the last three weeks assignments, and the major museum paper. He should still have an A but, you never know. Don’t count your chickens and all.
Fed up with MD Exchange, I was on hold for over an hour this morning and almost 2 hours this evening. I have looked everywhere to change the plan online, and I have no idea how a plan was selected anyway - I know I didn’t choose it and it was chosen at a time I would have been irking. I may browse FB and here when I am irking but I don’t do anything that requires concentration.
I can’t afford the premiums on the plan that was selected.
Maybe the neighbors will get the message and stop telling their friends to park there. I still feel sorry for the guy but then when I think about it, if a friend told me go ahead and park in the neighbors driveway they won’t mind - I still wouldn’t. I want to hear it from them.
I used to get that a lot when I delivered papers, people who didn’t want me to pull into their driveway to turn around but would tell me to use the neighbors. Kind of nervy I think because whenever I asked the neighbors if it was okay they weren’t too happy about it.
Sah-son found the mouse dead Yippee skippy I get to clean it up because, well no reason, maybe it’s time he learned to clean up a dead mouse. I can handle the yuk factor better than he can.
**sari **- that boy gots to learn! What good is having kids if you can’t make them do the icky chores??
**FCD **wanted Cracker Barrel for supper - we just got back. The manager on duty tonight was aces. My sweetie ordered the Friday special catfish but it wasn’t the catfish platter that he was expecting. The server was confused (English wasn’t her first language) so the manager came over and not only got **FCD **the extra fish and side that he expected, but brought him some hushpuppies, too. I ate the pups. It’s so nice to get good service. That particular CB is somewhat erratic - sometimes they’re soooooooooooo sloooooooooooow and other times, they’re right on the ball. Tonight was a good night.
We’re in chill mode. I expect my sweetie to sleep in but I’ll be up early, so the laundry baskets are waiting by the stairs. I’ll be able to start washing when it gets light out. Other than that, dunno what I’ll do tomorrow. Don’t care. It’s the weekend. YAY!
Stealing credit card info is a whole lotta steps down from stealing angels…& we basically have a confession to that.
Fish food? :dubious:
I felt like Dr. Doolittle on the bike commute today, [del]talking to[/del] screaming at the aminals. With the deer, they look up & stare at you; until they decide to run off. This is better than sneaking up on them (bikes are quiet) & having them get spooked & go in a bad direction (like towards me!). It’s deer season & I was close enough to one that I could have taken it with a fishing net! However, this technique doesn’t work so much with the squirrels because they is Teh Stoopit. Here is proof Warning: SFW, but NSFFOH - Not Suitable for Faint of Heart. (BTW, when I was looking for that, I found Doggio’s bike :D)
It was foggy this morning. I crested the hill right by the memorial arch. To my right, the multi-acre field, covered in ground fog, fell away while the sun, still low on the horizon, was still working it way towards burning off the airborne fog. I swear I could almost hear the soldiers who were there almost a ¼ millennium ago. Do you ever get that reinactor Ruble?
Then there was the tree trimmers on the bike trail; iffn my phone wasn’t so buried, I would have the radio station traffic hotline. What? My commute came to a stop; more than once in that area. Think they would have broadcast it if I called?
On the way home, in the dark, I was lit up like a Christmas tree with no less than seven lights, four of which were strobes, some of them being obnoxiously bright. It worked, I made it home, though the temp dropped about 10° during my ride home. I had extra layers that I left at irk because I thought I had enough on. When I got home, I made some hot chocolate because I was cold. When I opened the fridge to get a a little milk to pour into it, I saw the egg nog container so I used that instead. Since it now tasted egg noggy, I figured I just had to make it real egg nog & added some rum to top off the mug. So much for giving the liver a night off.
**Sari ** I agree with the others’. He is the man of the house. It’s his job. Re mouse, yard irk, bug killing etc.
And hooray for his grades and dedication.
