I is about to asplode! My building is having an ice cream social and I just had some white chocolate raspberry chunk/peanut butter cup with hot fudge sauce and whipped cream. The asploding will be followed by a deep sugar coma.
There’s an ominous message on the electronic freeway signs this morning:
PREPARE FOR RACE TRAFFIC
They don’t say how. Should I bring a crudite platter? Shave and put on a tie? Wash the car?
I suspect it’s a good thing that I work from home on Thursday and Friday. Apparently there’s some sort of festival called Speed Street before the actual races that was described on the radio as “Halloween for Rednecks” I can’t make this up - they were serious when they say it’s Halloween for Rednecks with all of the giveaways at the street fair.
Things went better than expected at court! He will undergo a program that is much like deferred adjutication, but all charges will be dismissed at the end of six months. The military will still take him after that. Yay!
Meh, at work, hatin’ it, donwannas, wanna go home. Cool, wet and rainy. I was going to go to a memorial service for a high ranking enlisted soldier here who died, but decided to stay here. Traffic sucks, so does parking, and they were expecting a huuuuge turnout, so the service will go on forever. I liked the guy and all, but we weren’t really close.
yesterday we had Early Spring weather - today late Spring, tomorrow will be summer, hopefully in temp only, not humiditity
I just discovered Blue Bunny Personals. 1/2 cup of their ice cream flavors in a single serve container. Perfect for the sort of person (like me) who figures once the container is open, I might as well finish the ice cream
Last year, the fifth grade at Potomac Elementary School had a pathetic 68% passing rate on their science SOLs (that’s the state standardized test.) That led to the teacher being replaced with my daughter. Yesterday, the fifth graders took their SOLs, and 94% passed. Plus 2 of the kids who failed were only 2 questions short of passing. My baby’s a *goooooooooood *teacher!
Work wasn’t horrible today, so there’s that. Thursday, I’m getting a futon from a coworker for $50, thereby solving my spare room dilemma. Plus saving me much more that I would have spent at IKEA for a daybed. So yay!
That’s all I’ve got. Gonna go clean the spare room to make space for the new furniture.
As the mom of two rising sixth graders, please thank her for me. We have been extremely lucky to be in a great school system with fantastic teachers, and I see her kids can say the same. Teachers are so underappreciated, and they have one of the most difficult jobs imaginable.
Mom called me severely stressed out because my brother got a D in Composition last term. I would have given him more help in his class but he always asks me for stuff at the last minute. Will that boy ever learn?
