A River Runs Through It: A Soggy MMP

Cookie, Wifey used to make Dutch Babies once in a while. They’re delicious, but not something a diabetic should be eating. Just sayin’.

Saw my regular cardiologist this morning. Not the guy who put in my fancy pacemaker. I saw him a couple of weeks ago. Everybody has been all excited about this ‘cardiac event’ I had last month. (I think I mentioned that earlier.) If I’d known it was an ‘event’ I would have paid closer attention. I jut thought I’d gotten overly tired. Anyway, I guess I’m not gonna die just yet.

onward.

I hope that your flood gets taken care of pronto doggio. I wonder if Chewy has little life vests for Gordie and Alex?

Congrats on the new gig bat boy!

Glad you had a nice meet up BooFae and nut.

Glad you’re still among the living bumba.

Went to irk and about an hour in, the trashy woman at the old lady table decided that her scratchy throat and cough warranted going home. She took a Covid test once there and it was positive. :rage: Anti-vaxxer be-yotch. :rage: Things are supposed to be sanitized tonight, but, dammit, she’s working with two people who are high risk and one other who is caretaker for her elderly mother. :rage: WTF was she thinking? (I know, she wasn’t).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

NOOOO!!! Open the closet so the critters can go to higher ground! Don’t even try to tell me that JRT’s don’t climb clothes, I know better.

HURRAY! CONGRATS!!! Work hard, pay lots of taxes, us retired drains on society are depending on you!

I was up at 4, but that’s because I was worrying about today’s move. Pat of The Plan was showing up at the overfull Humane Society to surrender the last cat. The person making The Plan didn’t listen to me when I told him to start making calls a month ago so now kitty is in the catio with the kitty door locked.

I’ve started pulling favors in, but all of the rescue groups are full and overfull and have been for over a year. If the plan maker had agreed that I should have been working on this part a couple of weeks ago, The Plan would have still worked. grumble, mutter.

We got rid of a bunch of stuff when we bought this place a few years ago. It was a real PITA and we have been really good at not bringing stuff in without taking stuff out.

Last week I was cleaning out some cabinets and found a decorative glass platter that we have never once used. Last house, I would have put it in a box in the shed until I had enough to make it worth the trip to donate it. And would have forgotten about the box. Instead, I put it in my car and donated it to the next thrift store I went by.

shoe I also agree that you would make a good Pit boss. My advice is to fake it until you make it. My first government job put me in a forward facing job with very little training. I pretended I was acting on a stage and playing someone with confidence. I’d put my game face on when I walked in the door and would reinforce it on an hourly basis. After a couple of months I realized that I wasn’t faking it anymore and while it was still a stage, I was the director. When you act like you have confidence and are in control, other people will respond to you as someone in charge which will reinforce your confidence.

Just remember that if you make a mistake, own it even if you do have to ask one of your crew fix it. Your crew’s respect will make or break you.

Oh gosh, you too!

We got our free tests a few days ago. Hubs the covidiot is running around without a care in the world because he’s immune, so we’ll probably need them in the next couple of months.

When we bought this place we planned on hub’s father living with us and hubs bought his dad a recliner. FIL died before he could move out here and the recliner was not comfortable for me because I’m not a tall man, but there wasn’t room for another recliner so that’[s the one I used.

Today hubs put the recliner in the trailer to take to our friend’s new digs (we only found 2 kitty toys, our housekeeper does a good job) and I am free to buy one for me. Except the living room looks so nice and big now. Imma gunna have to think about this.

Well, good. We’d like to keep you around.

Another long boring day. I showered and that’s about all I accomplished today. I do feel like I have turned a corner on healing. My foot or ankle or leg or whatever doesn’t hurt at all. When I do put weight on it it is not nearly as painful as it was, so progress. I am not rushing anything though as I can’t take a chance on re-injuring again.

Oh I did a load of towels too so not total sloth. I’ve been bingeing Ozark and it’s OK. I am almost through season 3 so should finish it in a few days.

Good luck Red I hope everyone manages to avoid the plague.

Good luck with the flood Doggioooo

Happy new Moanday everyone.

I’m with you on the paring down belongings cookie. When I moved here 5 1/2 years ago after living in one place for 12 years, I got rid of a ton of stuff (I knew that I was losing 90 square feet). I’ve been pretty good about keeping acquisitions to a minimum, but sometimes it’s tempting to bring home stuff that I don’t have a place for.

Howdy Y’all! Nice, slothful day today with pleasant weather to boot. Didn’t get my 'scripts filled today because the pharmacy needs to contact my doc about refills. I thought she had sent the refills in, but I guess not. I’ll check tomorrow to see if they have the order. If not, I shall gently prod doc to do so. Sup got cooked and et. Sketties 'n meatballs were especially good, do we shall have the rest tomorrow.

I found out this afternoon that someone who was in church yesterday tested positive for the plague today. The person was double masked, so maybe nuttin’ to worry about, but we shall get tested. Ordered the test from the gummit, but natch, they are not here yet. We can get tested locally for free, but will have to wait until Firday to do so, so we shall. Meanwhile, isolate as much as possible and double mask when out and about we shall. red hope no one at irk ends up with the plague. I’ve taken to callin’ it the plague. Perhaps I shouldn’t, but it does amuse me.

shoe you will make a great pit boss. Take the sage advice given by nameless.

cookie I’ve never had a dutch baby either. I wonder if newborns are a lot more tender than say, one that’s six months old.

Bumba I join in the chorus of folks who are glad you are still amongst us.

MetalMouse glad you had a good first day at the gym. I think there are some of those around here somewhere.

doggio hope PPP, The Sharp Angry Puppy, and you are not treadin’ water.

Nellie I have found the best way to determine the weather is to go outside. If there’s weather, it’ll be there.

I make soft cheeses. Because you have to make large amounts at once due to mass and measurements and other annoying sciency things, I give most of what I make away.

I made some cream cheese (rich smooth european style, not the dry, almost crumbly Philly Cheese style) last week and gave some to a semi-friend who is managing the local diner. Due to supply chain issues, she said she should start buying their soft cheese from me. I thought she was joking, I make good cheese but I’m certainly not in the business. It’s a hobby, I’m retired now.

She has sent me links on what I’d need to do to get a cottage license and has been really naggy about it. She just now sent me a list of what the diner would want on a weekly basis and what they would pay for it. I haven’t even said I was interested fer crying out loud.

If she doesn’t stop hounding me, I’m gunna pull out the big guns and tell her that her grandbaby is ugly (she isn’t, she’s as cute as a 4 month old baby can be). Of course I’ll never be able to eat at the diner again, but at least she will stop blowing up my email.

Holy smokes. Remember me griping about having to call the surgery scheduler twice last week and leaving VM’s about my back surgery, set for 2/4? Hahahahaha. I got a call from her today. She said. “Hi. Nellie? This is C------ from the Orthopedic Center! I’m calling to find out if you’re ready to schedule your surgery!”

Me: !!!
Also Me: B-b-but I thought it was scheduled! Remember how you said it was going to be this Friday? Remember how you called me just after I left the clinic and asked if 2/4 would be OK, and I said, ‘Yes’? I left you two voicemails last week."

I could just about see the thought bubble over her head, the bubble that says, “Uh-oh.”

Clearly she’d never listened to her voicemails and had forgotten she’d given me a date. She did some scrambling, and I went there this afternoon for a MRSA swab. Hopefully results will be back in time for me to have surgery on Friday.

**

Ditto!

unknown**, I have a small recliner that looks like a regular wingback chair. You wouldn’t know it’s a recliner to look at it. It’s the perfect size for me, and it doesn’t dominate the living room.

Butters, glad you’re feeling better!

Geeze louise. I know that medical staff have been overwhelmed but you have been proactive. I sure do hope the results will be back in time. If you can find her address, I’ll send her kids some drums.

It’s almost like you are in my mind because that’s just what I want. Us vertically challenged people need comfy chairs too!

I have been hearing back from rescue folks about Peekaboo. It looks like the sweet little lady is going to have to live in the catio for at least a week.

GG doesn’t grok doors and has been trying to stare the laundry room door open for the last hour. Hubs locked the kitty door to the catio but GG is a big boy who might be able to bust through the door with his very thick head if he took it in his mind to go “outside” so we are keeping the door to the room with the kitty door closed as well.

Hubs and friend had to go to the care center today and they looked at friend’s room. It looks nice and welcoming. The lady who has been facilitating the whole thing left a bag with a pillow, blanket and mattress pad in the bedroom as well as did a lot of small decorating touches. Friend said he would use a cat litter bucket for a trash can and hubs blew up at him over turning his NICE place into white trash central. They are going to buy a trash can and trash bags tomorrow.

When this whole ordeal started, I told hubs that they would need to go to the grocery store and buy a $9.95 bunch of flowers for the nice lady. Today we agreed that she gets a 19.95 bunch of flowers.

Man, I don’t know what I’d do without y’all.

I had some texts with G.M. over the weekend, and she told me I’m one of the top dogs. That’s a direct quote.

So I’m a bit crunchy, but am screwing together as much self confidence as I can find.

Thanks for being in my corner, Mumpers, and I am pulling for all of y’all as well.

You are going to totally rock this. I always took the time to check my makeup hourly but I was working in an office building. Do you have a favorite ring or necklace or anything like that? If so, wear it and every time your confidence starts to flag, rub your ring and remind yourself that you are on stage and you are fucking good at what you are doing. Just getting into that habit will help you put a confident smile on your face while someone is shouting your hair back.

So they fixed everything this afternoon. Had burgers and fries for dinner.

Boy doesn’t have issues, he has subscriptions.

You got this, shoe!

Yay for Nut and Boofae meeting!

Speaking of which, nellie, you need to borrow Boofae’s pointy stick wielding Sri Lankan spiders for the hospital staff.

I get 2 kids tomorrow - but if Roxy tests negative again tomorrow, she can go to school on Weds. I was thinking I’d have them both all week, so this is good. Until Toby is a little bigger, it’s rough on me to have both. Roxy is used to having my undivided attention, but I can’t give her that when wrangling a 2-month-old.

And wouldn’t you know, after I delivered everything to the accountant, a W-2 showed up. We’d forgotten the very brief foray FCD made into going back to work. So I have to scan it and email it - along with the proof of health insurance that also came today. On the plus side, we got a check today - apparently we overpaid a radiology copay, so surprise money! Not nearly enough to offset what we’ll owe Uncle Sam, but it’ll buy a couple nights of carryout.

OK, I need to get to bed since I’ll have to get up stupid early to fetch the spawn.

I’m feeling it with you. My granddaughter is 4 years older than her now 7 month old baby brother. I basically ignore him and devote myself her when I go over, as she was used to for 4 years. Hours into a visit I might play with him briefly if she’s off interested in being with her mom or dad. I’d be hard pressed to take care of them both for a run of hours. I could keep them so safe and intact, but at least one of them wouldn’t be happy. At least Sorenson stays put where you put him down, Harriet can fly up a flight of stairs like a will o’ the wisp. I’ve done solo days with both of them, but only one at a time~I know my limits!

Evening all. Got my last 1099R in the mail today, so need to go out tomorrow and buy my 2021 Turbo Tax edition and get my taxes done sometime this week. Nappage did overtake me today, so I’ll probably be up late again, we’ll see.

shoe, You got this. Just remember the old Charley Daniels song line “I told you once, you son of a (female dog), I’m the best that’s ever been.” Then go and show them.

FCM, good luck wrangling 2 kids.

nellie, glad she called, would have been a bit awkward if you showed up and nobody knew about you…hope that’s the only problem you have.

Unknown, do what you enjoy and meet your own expectations, not someone else’s…but sounds like you already know that.

swampy, ordered the tests from the Gubmint more than a week ago and no sign of them either.

butters, glad the leg is doing better.

OK, need to get a couple things done then off to bed. Catch you all on 2sday.

Go shoe! So glad to hear that. You totally got this.

doggio Happy for you that they got the floods contained. And that PPP has dry paws.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

im, not ant-ivax per se but I hope that the state of ca doesn’t tie in getting the shot to the support it provides me … I hate needles and shots in general and it was an infected needle that screwed up my life when I was a kid …(a long sad story you’ll be glad you missed)

maybe the heart murmur that kept me out of a real gym class in school might get me a pass besides I had the plague this time last year …

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 33 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 71 and N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. Yeehaw! I shall also call the pharmacy today to see if’n the doc has reupped the ‘scripts yet. Hopefully I can get them today. I am leanin’ toward gettin’ them delivered (it’s free) due to possible plague and all. Sup shall be leftover sketties 'n meatballs.

doggio glad the flood got contained before there was a need for an Ark.

shoe of course you are one of the big wigs!

MOOOOOOM have fun wranglin’ the little 'uns.

Nellie hope the test results come back on time for your surgery.
