A River Runs Through It: A Soggy MMP

I suppose I should explain better.
The cat was hiding under the dresser because the dogs were on the bed. Adam does nothing quietly. He sounds like a thundering herd of elephants when he runs through the house, guaranteed to wake the dogs and the chase is on.
He wouldn’t go downstairs until I got up to go down with him
He’s a very sweet cat, but dumb as a box of rocks.
When he walks through the house the dogs leave him alone.

You wear them well, VanGo

My neighbor is a very nice person, MetalMouse
The friend would have me over every day for a playdate if she could. I turn her down a lot and feel bad for it, but I am so behind on everything around the house and I have to get caught up.
I took the day off hoping to get some stuff done today, and instead I slept most of the day.

I just spent 39 minutes on the phone with Royal Caribbean, but I shifted our Apr 22 cruise to Apr14. It will coincide with my daughter’s spring break, so she doesn’t have to get a baby sitter to replace me. Plus the cruise is just slightly different from the original one - instead of Nassau, we go to Grand Bahama Island. We went to Nassau once and it sucked. So the change is positive, if we decide to get off the ship. We may just stay put - who knows?

And it’s an oceanview room, which we never had before. There were no balcony rooms available, but they were stupid expensive. So this way, we can camp in our room and still see the ocean if we wish. The only hassle is needing a negative PCR or antigen test within 2 days of departure - I need to find out who can do those tests that fast. We’ve got everything else covered.

Shipboard rules are masks at all times except in your own cabin, while actually eating, or in outdoor areas that aren’t crowded. I can work with that. I’m looking forward to getting away at long last. We will miss Roxy’s birthday, but we’ll bring her a present when we return to make up for it.

I also signed us up for a marine diesel maintenance class in Annapolis in May. So it’s been an expensive afternoon.

Got the call. I report in at 10 a.m… My ride isn’t an early riser, so glad we don’t have to get there at the shriek of dawn.

But of course, there were still screw-ups. Nobody ordered the post-op meds, so my ride will get them after I see the surgeon pre-op. Also, I never got a link to the online forms, so I’ll do the hard copy ones they gave me. Yes, this does make me wonder if I’m actually having surgery at the Stephen King Clinic of Misery. I’ve decided once this is over and assuming I survive, I’m going to complain about all these errors and omissions to TPTB.

The maintenance guy said he’d be over “right after lunch.” Still not here, so I guess I should have asked when he eats lunch. If he’s not here by 3, I’ll call the office. He has to turn off the water to do the repair, and I have more laundry to do, plus the dishwasher needs to be run.

MetalMouse (Ha! Autocorrect wanted to make that MegaMouse, which sounds like a superhero. Actually, not a bad idea.), congrats on rejoining the 21st century!

Mom, that’s cool about the marine diesel class. Too bad it’s not until May. You could’ve helped out if the cruise ship needs an oil change.

Men in tights rarely disappoint and you did it very well indeed!

Knowing that GG has long arms, the kennel is going up on a table into hub’s armory/brewing room. We keep that door closed out of habit because there are so many fun ways for kitties to get into trouble in there.

If the cheese making gig disappoints, I will quit. The only money we will be out is the kennel and I can sell that easily out here.

I was always interested in cheese making but knew that it would be a huge time sink, so didn’t get started until after I retired. It’s a hobby, not a passion, so I can give it up any time I want.

Sounds so much like GG!!!

Geeze louise about all the screw-ups. Be sure your ride has something in writing from you authorizing them to pick up your meds, especially is you will be getting any narcotics.

Fingers still crossed that it all goes well. Try hard to get some sleep tonight and think about puppies and kittens and baby critters of all kinds.

Howdy Y’all! We did N.O.L. at Newk’s ('twas very good), achieved nappage and slothed away the rest of the day. Now we sloth away the night. Never a dull moment here!

doggio come to think of it, we were offered a Tarot readin’ and there was a crystal ball at the testin’ site.

VanGo tights and a mullet! Hubba! Hubba!

Nellie think positive thoughts. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed and prayers ascendin’ from south Jawja.

Nameless hope the cheesemakin’ is profitable for ya. If it’s a success, you could do a website named GG Cheese!

MOOOOOOM yay for the cruise. Hope it’s a fun one. What all does one learn in a Marine diesel class?

Flyboy I have no idea what your post meant, so I don’t know if it’s good or bad.

Hope that your surgery goes well nellie!

Wow VanGo! You made a handsome Romeo.

metal mouse, one of the things that I’ve noticed with the Edge when they come in for repairs is that they tend to hold a charge for quite a while. Welcome to the 21rst century!

It was 52F when I left for irk this morning and 38F with rain when I came home. Miserable weather. I made a quick pan of chicken veggie soup for supper (it’s that kind of day) and then took a nap. I may pop some popcorn for a snack in a bit.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We’re hoping to learn some basic maintenance and troubleshooting for our boat engine.

The maintenance guy came and maintained. Someone from the surgeon’s team called and said my meds fell through the cracks because his medical assistant was out today, but she left a message for the doc, so meds will be ready to pick up in the morning.

Thank you all so much for the assorted thoughts, prayers, etc. They mean a lot.

Up from naptime. Smebody hornked on the couch. Andybody want a lazy fived toed sloth? I get get good shipping.

Blessed are the Cheesemakers - Brian 3:38

And you sold the IROC, too?

Evening all. Dinner has been dined upon and the rain that fell all afternoon seems to have abated (albeit the Weather Wizards say we’ll get an encore about 2am. Nappage was taken but I set an alarm and only had about 40 minutes, so it shouldn’t mess up my sleeping habits. Plan to do a braunsweiger run tomorrow, and also hope to pickup a few other items (the frozen foods aisle has been pretty picked over this week).

Nellie, looking forward to hearing from you post-surgery. Take care now.

FCM, enjoy the cruise, a bit early in the season, isn’t it? (Not that I have any room to talk, my cruise is 6-13 May). Enjoy.

OK, need to finish some things and be off to bed shortly. Catch y’all on Firday.

Just that the music I listen to doesn’t seem old… until I realise it is.

Still remember the first time I heard Nirvana played on a classic rock station. I called a friend, totally incensed, only to be told, “Honey, their frontman died over twenty years ago.”

{ facepalm }

Got the new rubber on the car at Costco today, and ordered new specs while I was waiting. Posted more stuff to ebay. Tomorrow we start cleaning the deck and the porch and taking down all the wall hangings in the master bedroom in anticipation of the painters arriving next week. Gonna try to drop off a bunch of books at local used book places. The wife called several schools in the area trying to donate books to their libraries and got some odd reactions. One librarian actually said “It’s too much trouble.”

I had needlework stuff all over, a few bins here, a couple of drawers and some in the closet and more bins in one of the sheds. I knew I had small easily misplaced tools, but I couldn’t find them so I bought replacements.

Yesterday I locked the cats out of the spare bedroom and sorted and consolidated my stuff. I will never have to buy needles again. All of my threads are in the same bin and sorted by type (DMC, Watercolors, Linen, Anchor, etc.) I went through everything, tossed a lot and sorted through my patterns to see if there was anything I really wanted to do after all those years.

It was kinda interesting, I could remember the stage in my life when I decorated in Victorian hearts and ribbons, got married and went to Harley black and orange, moved to AZ and fell in love with southwestern art. I spent a ton of money on that stuff and now it isn’t to my taste AND I was young then and could stitch on 28 count (28 threads per inch) black fabric. Not so much anymore…

When Mom and I went to the needlework convention last year, she sent me three bankers boxes of her needlework stuff so we could try to sell it off. We sold one box and the others have been living in her closet.

I went through those boxes, picked out a few things I wanted and packed the rest up too. Those boxes will go to a non-profit needlework place to be used as they want on Wednesday. I can’t throw them out, its important, expensive hobby stuff, but I can spend the day driving the boxes to Phx so I can give them away to a place who will give them a good home.

You are the one who inspired me to get off my ass and deal with the mess, thank you.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and rainy(ish) with a predicted high of the same and rainy all day. A good day to be inside and dry, so it shall be. Some productivity will ensue, as sup shall be baked ham, scalloped N.O.T. (made from scratch even), green beans, and rolls. Might even make a peach cobbler. We shall be munchin’ on ham over the next few days.

Nellie I am guessin’ you won’t see this until at least later today, but hope the surgery goes well and you’re able to be up salsa dancin’ soonest. Glad the maintenance guy maintained and that the meds got figured out.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

our public library here has a “friends of the library” group that sells the donated books to help the budget out they sell them so cheap you feel guilty when ya buy them …

Good morning everyone.

I’m sending very best wishes to you nellie. I hope you’re up and doing your thing in no time.

My yearly insurance renewal came and I feel, I dunno, vaguely ripped off. I renegotiated last year because they were in fact ripping me off, but looking at the premiums, I still feel ripped off. Sigh, the thought of shopping for new insurance just sounds exhausting because I have so many other things on my plate. I shall have to mull it over. My payment isn’t due until the 10th of next month, so we shall see.

Yesterday was so incredibly busy and loooooooong. I logged on at 5:45 am and didn’t log off until 4:45 pm. It was another day of being on a Teams call or meeting, while someone else was trying to call me on Teams, my cell phone, plus having multiple chats going in Teams. In between, I was chasing down information, people, or fixing issues. Plus working policy, answering emails, working on tasks, and teaching the MPA how to do things, like purchasing, reconciliation, travel authorizations, and a few other things. It was utter craziness. I was exhausted at the end of the day and thought I would sleep well, but nope, I tossed and turned until 1:00 am or so, and was awake and out of bed at 3:00.

The day ended with a call from the State Director as she drove home. She went over some things she would like, we talked about strategic planning, planning for the return to the office, staffing, and a multitude of other things. That call was an hour long and came in while I was on yet another Teams call.

Ah, well, At least it’s Friday. My husband I both will receive our boosters today and I am going to talk to my boss about burning some earned credit hours. This way, the husband and I could go to lunch after our shots and I’d like to go over to Dania and look at a couch I’m interested in. I like to sit on furniture before I buy it. It looks exactly like the look I’m going for but appears to offer the comfort the husband is going for. He’s not a fan of track arms and wants them padded, while I, on the other hand, want clean somewhat modern lines and furniture that doesn’t look bulky. I feel like everything in my life is just so crowded, including my house and I want to lighten the load.

Hopefully, events don’t overcome me. I meant to ask my boss yesterday, but I was just so damn busy, I never got the chance.

I hope you all have a great day.

OMG - I slept in till 7!! Of course, I didn’t get to sleep till after midnight, so I guess it shouldn’t be a big surprise that I wasn’t up and about at 5.

Same here. I was going to haul the trash and recycling, but the rain hit early and I can see the tops of the trees swaying in the wind. Trash can wait till Moanday when the rain and cold have run their course. I did turn off the pellet stove, since it didn’t burn everything up overnight. Once it cools I’ll de-ash it and all that good stuff and prep it for the cold that’s coming thru tonight. Plus I have a load of laundry that needs to be laundered, and I should probably push the vacuum around at some point. Good times!

We didn’t care about the season when we booked it - we just wanted to get away for a bit and let someone else fuss over cooking and cleaning and all that. It’ll be a week to just chill. If FCD still has issues with walking, we won’t leave the ship. We’ve been to Charleston and Port Canaveral already, and we’re not beach people, so the Bahamas are just another stop. We will be going to RCCL’s private resort at Coco Cay for a day - we may venture out there… or not… we shall see.

Tomorrow, my daughter is making my birthday dinner, but first, I get to baby sit! :confounded:
Backstory - she’s got FCD’s 3-D printer in her classroom and it needs something done to get it working. So she’ll leave the kids with me, they’ll do what they can with the printer, then she’ll go home to cook and I’ll bring the kids home at dinner time. Just for my sanity, I’ll probably go ahead and get the fire in the basement going and take the swing down there so Roxy can run amok at will. Tho I’m already worrying about carrying the baby down the stairs…

nellie - all kinds of good and healing thoughts are projected at you from me! Tho I get the impression that you’re a tough old bird  and you’ll do just fine!

OK, time to finish my surfing before real chores begin. Happy Firday!!!

well im off to bed i hope all goes well for everyone and hope to hear good news when I come back … probably when everyone else’s day is over …
