A River Runs Through It: A Soggy MMP

Up. Pills and newspaper both inside their respective homes and recycleables outside at the curb per a phone request last night. Shopping will be starting shortly.

Still waking up, will comprehend things better after caffeine injection. Take care all.

Ugh, I feel extra blurf today. Went into irk last night to cover for … someone, honestly not even sure who … and slept even worse than I usually do.
I’ll rally and go to my regular shift today shortly, but I had to whine to somebody yanno?

Weather app says it’s 5 F outside, which sounds insane but having taken out some trash & scooped the litter box this morning, can confirm, quite damn cold out there.

Sometimes MMP stands for My Moan and Piss. Haven’t you figured that out yet?

Laundry is laundering. FCD is up. The stove is off and cooling - I’ll scoop it out after I toss the clothes into the dryer. Then, who knows…

Although it will likely be after surgery, good luck nellie!

unknown, I feel ya on the craft stuff. I just went through a paper purge in my studio and wondered WTF was I thinking buying this?. Not that it’s plug ugly (although some of the stuff that I got in buy lots is), but some one note wonders, very specific stuff that never panned out and the really odd sheets that there is usually a pair of in a paper pad. Some of it was kept to be reversed for use as card liners, but there are three project boxes that will go the local charity craft shop.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels / throw rugs in the dryer, a load of jeans in the wash and everything else on deck. The kitchen is cleaned and the rest will happen once I’m done with the break.

It froze last night, but the roads aren’t too bad, from the sound of traffic on my street. The sidewalk was just slightly wet when I walked Nelson. I think that the pavement was just too warm for us to have ice (yet! It will be even colder and wet tonight).

Off to finish cleaning.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Wait. Wait. There’s a needlework convention?? That sounds absolutely amazing. And very dangerous. I’ll bet they have something similar for yarn. Hmmmmm.

The sun finally came out. I started shoveling the driveway last night - ours is a very long downward slope that turns into a great sledding hill during snowstorms but is a barrier to getting out. The kids will have to help finish the job today or we’re going nowhere until tomorrow afternoon unless we walk, which isn’t actually a bad thing, but given my daughter’s habit of trying to “surf” on sledding hills, I could see a concussion in our future.

People at work seem to want to have philosophical debates today, which is really the wrong day to have one. By this point, my filter is gone and our friends in higher places have dropped so many new regs I’m swimming in information. I think my brain may explode. It’s hard to pull out a single thread from the bajillion pages I need to read and give advice on something on page 43. Plus, I don’t want to talk to people, so that doesn’t help.

I walked my Mauser this morning and it wasn’t half bad out. Only 14F but the sun is out and no breeze, unlike yesterday. Felt almost good.

So got sent home early, since it was slow. "Princess Pretty Paws did his business, even though it was drizzling. I got a load of laundry in the dryer. Naptime!

Hope you feel better, nellie!

Laundry is done and put away. Pellet stove is clean. Cat box is scooped. What to do, what to do??

I have shoveled 3/4 of the driveway, including rescuing recycling bin from the Thing at the End of the Driveway. The plow had overturned the recycling and melded it into the plow pile. I could go somewhere if I really needed to. Probably 14 inches. I needed a break.

And I thought our four inches was a bummer!

Just went out and finished the shoveling. In the hour or so I was inside, we got another 1/2". Not gonna bother with that, stick the truck in 4x4 and we can handle a half inch.

They have quilting conventions. They even have quilting retreats. I might go sometime. Or not. Stupid plague.

Baker How is walking going on all of this ice and snow and mush? Is Mauser being a good boi?

Nellie I hope surgery went swimmingly.

Happy Friday everyone!

Ours too, but they’ve been on hiatus since the plague began. We live 3 doors down from the library and used to go to their sale every year because: books.

Have tried to call my aunt 4 or 5 times in the last 2 days but no luck. The phone just rings.
I may try again today, but don’t expect much.

We made 5 bean chili last night and had it with ciabatta rolls. It was wonderful, but I paid for it about 2am this morning, so I’m not feeling too energetic this morning.

Hope your surgery goes/went well for you Nellie.

I usually drink/drank Cherry Coke Zero. Well, lately there hasn’t been any, so last time I bought Cherry Coke Zero Sugar. I don’t think it tastes the same. Specifically I don’t taste any cherry in there. I’ll finish what I’ve bought, but I may be through with Coke altogether after this. I’m still pissed at them for discontinuing Lime Coke anyway. If they hadn’t bought Barq’s (root beer) They could disappear from the face of the Earth and I wouldn’t care, or notice. If they start messing around with that formula I don’t know what I’ll do. Write a letter to my congressman? Boycott Atlanta? Drink Poopsie?

Afternoon all. The Great Braunsweiger Run has been completed successfully, have 3 months supply now residing in my refrigerator, which should take me close to my vacation. Also picked up a few odds and ends so my freezer is now re-filled, so eating in will not be a problem. Decided to treat myself for being a responsible adult and ate lunch at Wahlburgers. Now home a into sloth mode for the time being.

Bumba, I’ve been a Pepsi drinker for many years, couldn’t tell you why, just prefer it over Coke (not that I’ll turn a ice-cold Coca-Cola down). Never have gotten into the Cherry or other flavors or Diet sodas, just regular old-fashioned Pepsi.

VanGo, talky, just look at the shoveling as exercise you don’t have to pay a gym for. Hope it abates soon.

OK, back to solving Sudoku’s. All y’all take care.

nellie I hope your surgery went well and you will be ballroom dancing tomorrow.

Appropriate cause GG is such a cheesehound!

I think it’s possible that you guys might think that making soft cheeses is something like work. Seriously? How in the world could anyone think that I’d be so silly as to pick a hobby that actually takes work?

Currently, I’m making a big pot of cream cheese. After prepping the kitchen and tools, I put milk and such in a pot and slowly raised the temp to 80F. Now the pot is in the dog kennel where it will culture until tomorrow. Tomorrow I’ll put the cheese in a drain bag and make ricotta out of the whey. My total time involvement for everything will be about an hour.

I hope any side effects are minor and easily ignored. I get what you mean by everything being too crowded, it really does make most folks happier if they aren’t surrounded by clutter and stuff.

I think I would die. Or just curl up in bed and refuse to come out until Spring, that’s just too cold.

Good for you! I’m old enough that I don’t ask myself that anymore, I just figure I must have had a good reason at the time and move on. I briefly dabbled in paper making and learning about paper history and forms was really interesting.

Very, VERY dangerous. I have never attended a convention without learning about a new technique using new tools and materials that I just cannot live without exploring.

Seriously, they are so much fun. Everyone attending is a fellow junkie who likes showing off their work and techniques. I’ve learned so much just watching and listening

Sending happy healing thoughts to nellie!!

A thread or two ago, I mentioned that a friend in central Washington who has been fighting cancer for several years was in a local hospital and things weren’t looking good. A few days later, her wife posted an update: “She was admitted with a very high fever that came on over a period of 16 hours from onset of feeling chilled. She was diagnosed with sepsis. As of today the infection is being held at bay. However, with her cancer, other concerns have come to light. She has made her personal decision to go on Hospice care.” I completely understand and wish nothing but peace for her, but I’ve also been a little beside myself. I wish I could go out there. But I can’t, so I figured the next best thing was to send mail. Last spring I ordered a necklace for each of them from Bryan Anthonys; I planned to bring them with me the next time I visited. I found a small-ish empty box to put them in, along with a hand-written letter, and I took it to my local UPS Store on Wednesday morning. I paid a silly amount of money for it to be delivered today or tomorrow, but the other option was delivery mid-to-late next week and I’m feeling like time is of the essence. I’m waiting for email notification of the delivery. I hope the package will make both of them smile.

In the last apartment I lived in, maintenance thought it was perfectly fine to be there while I was in the shower. I can understand letting yourself in if no one answers your knocking, but as soon as you hear the shower running you should leave!! After twice getting out of the shower to find strange men in my apartment, I convinced management to let me install a chain. Just one reason why that was the last apartment I lived in (and will ever live in).

I have been on one cruise in my life. 19 years ago, the husband-half of my best friends bought the wife-half a cruise for their anniversary: at the time their son was 15 months old, and they offered to pay for me to go with them and act as his nanny so they could have some “quality time” and enjoy some excursions. Single-occupancy cabins were way too expensive, so I agreed to share a cabin with a stranger…and somehow, we got super lucky and wound up with a balcony. Other than the time spent with my “nephew” and friends, that balcony wound up being my favorite thing about the cruise.

:joy:

I can’t drink soda anymore (no more carbonation for me), but I was a Diet Pepsi drinker for decades.

Best wishes nellie.

That’s all I got right now.

Howdy Y’all! We had a biiiiiiiiiiig N.O.L. of ham, scalloped N.O.T., green beans, squish casserole and rolls. Needless to say any other need to feed today will be via forage. 'Twas good though and a good thing to do on a coolish rainy day. The rest of the day has been spent in sloth and uselessness. Hope everyone has had a good day!

In case anyone was wondering.

We went to the gym/aquatics center. I did my arm exercises, FCD swam laps, then we both walked back and forth in the therapy pool because it’s warm. Then we went to Salsa’s for a late lunch early dinner. Now we’re home.

The temp has dropped from 61° this morning to 41° now and heading into the 20s tonight. ugh. But we’re in now and indoor chillage shall ensue, despite the revolting lack of chocolate in this house. Dammit.

Happy Firday!

Been a sleepy day.
No park this morning, everybody else wimped out because of the rain.
The friend who wanted me to come for a playdate yesterday has a cold today, so I’m glad I didn’t go.

Temps here have gone from the 50s down into the 30s, and are supposed to get into the 20s by morning. It’s a bit windy too. The rain has stopped, so hopefully there won’t be any ice in the morning.
