I mashed the strawberries and measured out the sugar for the jam. Tomorrow, I’ll be jammin’!
Supper tonight will be ham steak, corn-on-the-cob, broccoli, and whatever else I find in the fridge. And before I make 'nanner bread, I need to go buy sugar. Jam takes 7 cups, which pretty much wiped out my sugar supply. Always something!
Supper was good. I don’t know where the corn was grown, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the local stuff. However, the local stuff is only about 3-4" tall so far, so what we had wasn’t bad in the interim.
We’ve got ants. When we go out for breakfast tomorrow, we’ll stop somewhere on the way home and get some ant traps. Stoopit ants.
Cee-mint pond time and feastin’ time are over and everyone has left. The kitchen is cleaned and we be chillin’. 'Twas a fun afternoon at the cee-mint pond. Much merriment and laughter ensued. The feast was over the top! In addition to ribs 'n chickin, N.O.T. sallit and pound cake with fresh macerated strawberries and real whipped crean, we had baked beans, fresh green beans, and corn on the cob (which I et off the cob natch). Snackies were rotel dip, onion dip, chips, hot wings, and shrimpies. YUM to all! Everyone is now gone as mentioned above and we’re all showered and cleanded up. Life is good! We’s also tahrd.
Actually he would love the stuff I smoke; beef, pig, the odd chicken now and then.
Between getting ready for the big French&Indian War event and everything else, I just didn’t feel like 10 hours of tending the fire. And right after that we go into coastering. And between all that the usual work. Seriously filling the Brinkman and just going whole hog on a half hog or so will have to wait a little.
What? It’s been a long time since I did one of these. I do need to settle down soon and go beddy bye. I have to ush Whiskypalian style in the mornin’. First Sunday without YP, but the supply Priest is the Priest who retired from St. Pat’s before YP showed up, so that’s good. I lurves me some Fr. Jim!
FairyChatMom, do you have a crochet pattern for a ski mask? One with an opening for the mouth? I saw something on YouTube today that was hilarious, a simple ski mask, crocheted all in green, with little squiggly tentacles hanging down around the mouth. Cthulhu be praised!
Or all the better for the Annual Lutefisk Dinner? Lord knows I’ve been at one or two when I wish I had had a Cthulhu ski mask. The butter stains my usual luche libre mask.
It appears we have a tropic storm headed in this general direction. From the looks of the weather forecast, the rain should hit tonight and into tomorrow - guess it’s a good thing I mowed yesterday, huh? I’ll try to get out before the rain and whack the last of the grass that I didn’t mow yesterday - I hate maneuvering the mower on the hill, not that the whacker is much easier to use.
Taz has been a real brat this morning - twice he’s knocked FCD’s calipers off his desk, making a gawd-awful clatter. Doggone feline is too well-rested for his own good! **FCD **is trying to sleep, and with luck, we’re just 2 days away from him getting some real relief and non-drug-induced sleep.
Apart from running the whacker, I’m going to make jam today. I might even bake some 'nanner bread - depends on how I feel later. For now, I’m letting my sweetie sleep till he’s ready for breakfast. I want to see CBS Sunday Morning - they’re interviewing the remaining 3 Monkees today. I’ll probably just catch it as a video afterwards, but it’s a *must *for a Monkee Maniac 50 years later…
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Watching the Monaco GP at the moment, with the Indy 500 next up on deck. Good thing ,since it looks like the rain will be starting shortly.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeineatin’. YAWN 'Tis a very hyoooomid and clear 66 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 90, sunny, and hyoooooooomid for the day. I shall ush at the ten forty-five, aka Whiskypalian service, today. Other than that no real plans. We may have some cee-mint pond time, but mostly I foresee nappage this afternoon.
doggio just knowin’ lutefisk exists is bad enough. Must you summon it as well?
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants feedin’. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Well, I’m up and was actually active for a Sunday morn. Spent most of yesterday afternoon sorting though all the stuff I had piled on my desk (about 8-12 years worth of bit and pieces of my life) and have worked though most of it (got a ton of photos still on the desk to be dealt with).
I have a routine on Sunday eating, I rotate between six places and then take 1-2 weeks to visit other places or (gasp!) eat at home. This was my ‘off’ week, so getting up at 0615 and remembered to take my typhoid medicine (yea, two for two), I decided to overdose on sugar and went to the Krispy Kreme shop (where they make them hot out of the frier) and got six glazed donuts. Which I am now consuming. Sugar High Today!!!
Cloudly but no rain in the forecast. Looks like I’ll celebrate M-Day by mowing the yard. Blurf.
It looks sunny out, but I haven’t been outside yet. I ended up sleeping most of yesterday, and slept most of the night as well.
I have no idea what I am going to do today.
There is always lots to do round here, maybe I will do something, or maybe I won’t.
We’ve breakfasted. I’ve watered my house plants. I’ve got the jam jars scrubbed and in the hot bath to be sterilized and preheated for the hot jam, plus the bath will take less time to come up to temp when I put the full jars in it. The mashed berries are out, coming to room temp. I’m not starting till I see the Monkees interview.
I won’t be making 'nanner bread till I have more space in the freezer. Instead, I’ll mash and freeze the 'nanners and deal with them maybe next weekend. I also need to go thru the fridge which is still full of party leftovers. OK, not full, but dribs and drabs of a number of items. All the good stuff, like the baked goodies, are all gone, but there are remains of salads to be sorted and perhaps tossed.
metal mouse, I used to [del] bribe [/del] [del] ingratiate [/del] earn the gratitude of my inspectors by swinging through the Krispy Kreme when the hot light was on for a couple of dozen glazed. It always worked.
I have the gumbo in the slow cooker for supper and am now getting ready to go to where the bike is stored for our ride.
