A Tad Late, but Still the MMP....

Oh, Pugs, I’m so sorry. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts. Maybe the person he saw the other day was his guiding angel. It’s seems sort of prophetic, you know?

Still damn cold, but it is supposed to warm up. We shall see. They’re calling for temps in the 20s tonight, so everything that melted today will be a sheet of ice tomorrow morning. Oh, what a joyful commute.

Meli, I’m sorry to hear about your pup too. Our pets do become such a large part of our lives and families, and it is heartbreaking. Hugs and warm thoughts to you as well.

FCM, you two are going to have get an ark soon, I think. I’m kidding. That was exceptionally kind hearted of you two to take that lil’ cuttie in. I hope the rest of the family accepts the lil cutie soon.

Well, off to play Burning Crusade, the expansion for WoW. I’m such a geek. :o

{{{Pugs}}} I’m glad it went so smoothly for everyone. My condolences, of course.

FCM, that is one adorable dog. Good work!

Oh no, meli. And here I am going on about FCM’s new dog. I’m sorry for your loss. Ali was quite close-lipped (close-keyboarded?) about what was plaguing you, unless I missed it, which is possible. {{{meli}}}

Better?

{{{Pugs}}} My condolences.

I’m itching to take a short trip and go play. But where should I go? North is out, it’s cold up there. Disneyland seems to be more expensive than Las Vegas. I’ve always wanted to go to the Madonna Inn, but I might go completely blind. And of course, I want to go tomorrow, or as soon as possible.

Jahdra, I think you should stay in the “Irish Hills” room. Losing your ability to see color forevermore would be a small price to pay for staying in a room that awesome.

I’ve driven past the Madonna Inn, Jahdra, and even from a distance it was obvious it’s, er, unique. So if you go, what room would you like to stay in? You could always stay in the Edelweiss Room in honor of Nava’s current location. The Love Nest is definitely interesting, with the spiral staircase up to the cupola (also done up in pink, one presumes), but looks more appropriate for Swampy and ACBG than just one person, unfortunately. And I do think the Tack Room should be renamed the Tacky Room – just the thought of trying to sleep in all that red gives me nightmares!

Gah, Jahdra - make sure to take your sunglasses. I do love the idea of a rock shower, but there’s a whole lot of pink in that place. Bright pink. Painful pink.

I need to go to bed.

If I stay overnight at the Madonna Inn, and head back to San Simeon the next day, then Hearst Castle will seem a model of restraint and good taste.

I’ve always wanted to stay in the Caveman Room. I’m also partial to the Hideaway. Jungle Rock is especially tasteful. Or I could go to Kona. Old Mill is classy. Of course, there’s always What’s Left. I bet you can see the colors with your eyes closed. For the rest of your life.

I love the fact that there is no air-conditioning in the What’s Left room. That room is officially evil. They probably rent it out to the CIA to use as a torture chamber on the sly.

Pugs, I’m sorry for your loss but glad the wait is over, if that makes any sense. When the tears come, which they will, let them. People who tell others “aaaaaw don’t cry!” when they absolutely have reason to cry should be smacked with a 10lb salmon. The salmon should be dead so it’s not cruelty to animals.

Ali didn’t mention the dog this week, but I know he’d mentioned it before. He asked what could he do to help Meli, I think it was in another thread. Still sending warm fuzzies you way, you two (I’m a not-so-closet romantic, so I get all cooei over other people’s love lifes, :stuck_out_tongue: me)

On the home front, I’ve found out that SiL gave Mom a prescription for depression meds. Riiiite. OK, if Mom’s depre is a clinical depression, then it’s exogenous, caused by external problems some of which are relatively easy to fix: fix the problem, the low mood gets fixed as well. It’s not a matter of pills, it’s a matter of not abusing her goodwill. Mom got pretty angry and she’s using the anger to stave off the depre. She’s also working to break the siege on two fronts:
SiL has a cleaning lady (pretty new, the previous one went back to Bulgaria) which goes there in the afternoon. This means that SiL has to give instructions to Mom, for Mom to give to the cleaning lady; also that Mom is supposed to get there very early in the morning while SiL is still in bed and take care of the kid while SiL studies and talks on the phone (mostly the second, SiL still hasn’t admitted to herself that she can’t concentrate worth shit in the mornings). If the cleaning lady does anything that SiL doesn’t like, it’s Mom’s fault.
That cleaning lady cleans the gym at a nearby school first thing in the morning, so for her it would be better to go to SiL’s in the morning as well. Then SiL can give her instructions herself and Mom doesn’t have to be there all day. That’s one front.
Another front is, since SiL so graciously gives her prescriptions and samples, Mom’s going to get her as her doctor. That means a bit of paperwork but nothing that can’t be arranged. Mom says that way SiL will not be able to say she didn’t know about, oh, Mom’s irritable colon syndrome, for example (SiL makes a lot of menus that include stuff Mom can’t eat): she’ll have the whole history right there. Under the belt, but I never expected those two to fight fair.

I’m so glad to be two countries away, right now.

The Madonna Inn hurt my eyes! AAAAAAAAAAAAH!

{{{{{pugs}}}}}, I’m so sorry for your loss but at least you know his passing was peaceful and he’d already had time to say goodbye to you and the rest of his loved ones. Ophie sends purrs and Shadow sends snores.

{{{{{Meli}}}}}, a loss of a different sort, but a loss all the same. It’s funny how pets come to be our own furry family. I’m sure Blitzen understood that you loved to the last and that it was a painful, but necessary, decision. Never easy, but you can take consolation in knowing you saved a beloved pet from suffering.

Taters - sounds like Mr Taters did the sensible thing, companies who put profits before employee safety need a boot up the bum.

Mama Tigs - welcome to the bionic knee club! I have two of them, eventually did my poor knees so much damage they both had to be replaced. But on the plus side, after months of very painful therapy and recuperation, I can do thinks with those knees I never did before! I celebrated the success of my second new knee by borrowing my friend’s bike for a ride around Castle Combe at a suitably high speed!

Big hugs to anyone else who needs them, and whatever else to those who don’t. I’m off to yet another meeting…that’s the third one today and it’s only 11am.

{{{Puggy}}} I’m so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I’m glad he died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. That’s truly the best way to go. Still, doesn’t make the loss hurt any less.

{{{Meli}}} I’m so sorry. Take comfort that Blitzen had a long and happy life and he died feeling loved and cared for. I had a suspicion this is what Ali was talking about. The fact that he did go out of his way to be there for you just might make him a keeper.

I want to stay in the caveman room. It just looks so jakely jake! Plus, the games we could play…

Spats yay, I’ve been sig lined again!

rigs that’s a whole lotta paintin’ goin’ on. I have a feeling I’ll be in for that later this year when I get my floors redone. No doubt that’ll lead to needing to paint because spiffy floors mean I need spiffy walls, right?

Today I work on wage and hour stuff. Tis that glorious time of year. I have all the stuff I need all gathered in one not so neat pile so I can dive in. Yee and Haa.

** {{{ Pugs }}} ** I’m so sorry for your loss.

FCM, that is one cute dog. ScruffyDog is an appropriate name.

Has Nueva España rejoined the mother country? The Madonna Inn’s Espana (no tilde) room includes “Spanish furniture from Mexico” in a style not seen within Spanish territory since the Americas started declaring independence.

It’s like a horror movie, so scary you can’t stop looking. Like The Sims on Barbie steroids… like Quentin Tarantino and a bucket of blood… like letting Divine design your wedding dress…

Would you stop with the Madonna Inn stuff? My eyes hurt!

Pugs, how’re you doing today? That’s not the standard come-on, BTW…

Can anyone pass the bleach this way? My eyes and brain need it…

{{{{meli}}}}

does the Madonna Inn rent rooms by the hour? S&M folk must love the Tack room. I like the building - that was someone’s home at one time. But why is it called the Madonna Inn? Because all the rooms are decorated the way she dressed in the 80s?

It’s the owners’ lastname. Which sounds to me like this sentence we have in my family: “only one household went to waste! (when those two got married)”

Eh, it’s not that bad. Besides, they were missing the one room they needed to ascend to the hights of Truly Tacky. I’ll give you three guesses.

The bridge of the Starship Enterprise.

I have declared today Quantum Day, because I will be spending the entire day on my Quantum Mechanics homework in a not-at-all-but-actually-it-is desperate gamble to get it done today. It’s not due until Friday afternoon, but if I can get it done today, so much the better. Here, have a pun.
