A Tale of Two Turtles MMP

{{Vundy}} Not a good start to the day. :frowning:

I’m awake, I’m at work, and that’s about all I’ve managed to achieve so far today. Wheeee.

{{MamaTigs & Snowbunny}}

And bobbio, even though you don’t like hugs.

We’re busy again now, which is good, but it’s not leaving us time to find stuff for New Guy to work on so I think he’s really bored and probably wondering if this was really a good idea to take this job. I wish I could help, but I don’t have much that I can easily hand off. He’ll get busy enough soon enough, but I remember the boredom of starting a new job and not knowing how to do anything, and it really isn’t fun.

Yo, nola, that is one seriously adorable bebe!

Florida doesn’t have state income tax yet. When I lived in SC, if I got a refund on my state income tax, I had to declare it as income the following year. Isn’t that double taxation??

I love Whole Foods, gt. I would spend way more than I do now if I did my weekly shopping there, though. Because I would buy things like smoked salmon salad and bourbon cheddar cheese.

That’s all I got this morning.

Tupug

Oh, I like them if you’re cute, and/or the hug is warranted… :wink:

Howdy all - late to this party, but I don’t have any turtle stories to tell, in any event.

Welcome Back [del]Kotter[/del]NoLa!!! Cute baby girl - I wanna 'nuther one!!!

My housemaid ended up in hospital on Saturday night - she decided to clean her bathroom with chlorine bleach, but didn’t open the window, the door or the exhaust fan, so after 15 minutes, she couldn’t stop coughing, felt dizzy and ended up vomiting. Hubby had to take her to the ER, where they put her on oxygen for an hour and discharged her with some antihistamines (???) and a caution to not be so durn stoopid next time!

ETA: Hi RNATB! Come on in, the water’s fine!!! : snigger : :smiley:

I dunno… I’ve heard some strange stories about you MMP people…

::hides squid behind back::

Heh, we’re nice, dammit! You just have to send chocolate to fcm, and beer to bobbio and swampy.

G’morning!

Hey, RNATB! How you doin’?

I feel better today. Still a bit draggy, but not so queasy/icky.

I was almost through with my little project, and of course they want to change it. Ain’t it always the way? <sigh>

Would it be alright if I just leave all this beer and chocolate here and let you lot sort it out? I’m terrible with names.

Because you’re not so bright?

Like any of us are…

(I mean any of them)

:cool:

Sure! :smiley:

::snatches some of Mom’s chocolate::

::whistles innocently::

We are basically a good lot. Just don’t let me do CPR on youi.

I have a case of the raging grumpies this morning. I wanna go home and not have to interact with people in general today. Grr.

Substitute “lifetime” for “morning” and substitute… well, actually, leave the rest the same. :smiley:

Welcome, RNATB!
((((Alice and MamaTigs)))))

Sorry, Bob. :frowning:

Went looking for storage bins for under the bed, and I think we’ll have to trek out to Ikea, because nowhere else in the world do they have flat, wide storage bins. Why not? Isn’t under a bed an obvious storage space?

Anyway, we got some new mugs and had lunch at the Armenian Kitchen (which does the best falafel I’ve ever had), and Nat and I are covered in their hot sauce. Nat’s asleep, I’m going to nap and then do one or two chores. Maybe. :wink:

RNATB is now DimBulb, for I decree it to be so.

Regarding crickets: There is a Mexican Rose-Hair Tarantula in a cage in our living room (what, you thought I was the only wierd one in the famly?) that eats crickets. The crickets it doesn’t eat chirp but can’t really be heard from the bedrooms on the next floor so it’s not an issue. However, during the day, those lil chirpy critters are fascinating to our smaller cat, who will sit atop the cage for hours watching them.

Regarding taxes: I hat to file taxes on $147 or so that I made in the fist two weeks of January 2008 before I quit my job to come to UMBC. I’ll be getting a $4.18 refund check. Yay.

I got my Dynamics exam back… I did GREAT! I got a 76.5 or so… Not sure exactly what that means though. The test was 5 questions, 20 points each. Class did abysmal so the last (and hardest) question became extra credit. So I think, with extra credit, I got a 76.5/80. Blackboard, though, says 76.5/100. Whatever. I’ll see when I get the actual hard copy of the exam back. Whatever happens, though, I beat the class average by an entire letter grade and change. I am happy.

Y’all should post in this thread. Because it’s fun, dammit.

Bleh.

Sorry about dog. Sorry about old guy. Sorry for cricket.

Sorry for so many sorrys.
Off to run errands. Sorry for me…

Dimbulb?

Well, it is a lot easier to type.

Thanks again, guys. Yes, Rusty is gone. It was very, very peaceful – he lay on the floor on a soft, comfy blanket leaning against Papa Tigs’ legs and with me cuddling his head, and one moment he was there and the next minute he wasn’t. Then I cried so much I made myself sick :frowning: and came home and went to bed. But I snipped off a few locks of hair from special places – his silly fuzzy ears, his white spot on his chest – and made sure he looked all pretty lying there before we left the room, with a smile on his face and his paws arranged just so. He’s always been our pretty boy, after all! :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Isaac is mostly confused. He keeps wondering where Rusty is whenever he goes to do something like eat or get a treat – except for one time a little while ago. I took him out in the yard to throw his kong and throw his kong and throw his kong and…well, anyway, since you get the idea, when we were done playing and we started to walk towards the door, Isaac suddenly jerked his head around, looked at the spot Rusty always lay on while Isaac was chasing, and started to bark and run over there.

And then he suddenly stopped. But I will swear to my dying day that he saw Rusty for a minute. It nearly broke my heart. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

Papa Tigs is off in Chicago for a few days, so it’s just me and Isaac and Emily. Emily was always terrified of Rusty, who was too aggressive with cats for my comfort, but I suspect she can deal with Isaac easily, so the door to her “private apartment” (the master bedroom suite – spacious, lots of good windows to watch birds and squirrels out of and soak up the afternoon son from on her window seat, huge cat tree, etc.) is going to start staying open more and more. I’ll just have to make SURE to keep the cat box cleaned out (which I do every day anyway) so Isaac doesn’t help himself to those lovely treats that he finds in it. All together now: Ewww!

So I’m taking today off from doing anything other than what I feel like doing. I was asleep before 8:30 last night, which was probably a good thing since I’d gotten one of the worst headaches of my life crying over Rusty. Today I’m just trying to start getting myself back together to deal with life. I honestly didn’t know it was possible to hurt this much over a pet; I feel like a big hole has been torn out of my heart.

Anyway, welcome back TagFree, and your baby is a doll!

When I worked in DC, I had taxes withheld only for Maryland, where I lived. The states around here, plus the District, have all sorts of inter-state agreements over tax withholding; I just had to sign a piece of paper saying where I lived and DC never got a cent of my taxes. Now, of course, being self-employed, I don’t get any tax withheld, but Papa Tigs gets enough for both of us. I haven’t done our taxes yet this year, and today I simply refuse to think about it since it’s not my “only what I want to do” agenda.

Oh, and today is Young Tiger’s birthday. He’s hitting a quarter a century – my baby is all grown up! Waaah!
