Ok, I have to retract the unfair and malicious slander I perpetrated. I did indeed get the pictures over e-mail. I clicked on the link, and saw only a doggie picture, and didn’t realize there was more. So I did indeed get the pics!
Hi, all!
Ok, I have to retract the unfair and malicious slander I perpetrated. I did indeed get the pictures over e-mail. I clicked on the link, and saw only a doggie picture, and didn’t realize there was more. So I did indeed get the pics!
Hi, all!
Nat does indeed like the stevia. It tastes awful to me, but he likes anything sweet.
Urgh. Totally awful night with baby. Nine month sleep regression. Am crosseyed today.
In spite of that I’m doing some of the five-minute bread and want to do this cake tomorrow or maybe Friday. Looks yummy and easy.
Moooooooooom, per SWMBO’s request, we’re not going anywhere tomorrow. That will leave more beastloaf for FCD and the young science teacher.
In other news, I’ve been to the dump twice today, getting rid of both regular trash and shit we’re not moving.
gt, I have an appointment for x-rays and presumably removing the cast at 8 AM on the 20th. I’m having the little lady drive me in my own car so that I can drive myself out of there!
On a side not, no one has to worry that I had more fun than you all did today, because I’ve been in meetings until just now.
Meeks!!! ::waves::
LiLi, I’m constantly impressed by your baking. I love to bake, and if I had time, I’d do more but… for some reason, they expect me to be at work for 8 hour a day. ::pouts:: I am going to try chocolate caramel cookies with sea salt this weekend.
Swampy, Epiphany Eve is almost as good as the Day After New Year’s Day, which is on one of our calendars this year… but on Jan 3rd. Apparently, people in Australia get the day off.
Awesome pics, gt!
Irk’s been irksome this week. TPTB decided to take a process that worked nicely and split it into two processes, run by two different departments. So the new department that got part of the process doesn’t know what it’s doing yet. And I keep messing up because I’m trying to juggle two slightly different processes. On the same file. And not have them interfere with each other. It’s fun.
We’re also supposed to start on our self reviews, which are due next week. But there’s training on Friday for how to complete the new reviews correctly. So… I guess I’m just going to procrastinate until Friday!
*::Rebo’s head falls off and rolls across her desk from the sheer boredom of reading The Quality Manual::
:: picture little X’s for her eyes::*
Thanks, taxi.
Attacks Husband made Smitten Kitchen’s milk punch a couple of days ago, and brought some over for me yesterday. It brightened my afternoon a lot. It’s milk and cream and brandy and vanilla and sugar, and it tastes like very alcoholic ice cream slushies. Mmmm. I can keep it in the freezer and have it on hand. And that way lies alcoholism.
The five minute bread isn’t impressive in terms of baking stamina- mix, leave for over two hours, put in pans and heat oven up for a while, bake. It’s so nice and low-stress.
It’s a plot against me, and it’s involved me. Last night, I turned the TV off early, and **FCD **and I were soon in blissful dreamland. No cats, no noise, no coughing - just blissful sleep. Till 4AM when the damned TV came on. Apparently when I tried to reset the time by one minute, I hit one hour instead, so we were awakened an hour before we had to be.
WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! It was the first time in 2 weeks that I’d gotten a good sleep and it was cut short! Dare I hope for a better night tonight?
**BBBobbio **- sorry you won’t be coming. Have you tried any on-line house hunting? I can give you the name of a really good realtor - I don’t know if she handles rentals, but I’m sure she would know someone who does.
I’m trying to organize what was in my old desk into this new desk. It’s a challenge. Plus I’m tossing old crap - ancient bills and such. The shredder is about to get a workout.
Supper tonight will be miscellaneous leftovers, I think. I don’t feel like cooking and we’ve got assorted stuff in the fridge. So be it.
Bace to sorting…
I just signed the internal offer letter for the new gig. :D:D:D When I saw the new salary, I did a  because it was more than I expected, believe me, I ain’t objecting.
Mooooooom, we plan on renting for a good long time. I’m twice bitten and four times shy when it comes to mortgages. The looking we’ve done show a lot of houses for rent, and the scouting trip was partially to get an idea of reality vs. intarwebs.
Howdy Y’all! Another day of irk over. Rah.
Rebo thanks. I’m glad y’all found somebody to explain stuff to your dad. It also feels good to do that kinda stuff. Like Monday when I talked to a lady over the phone who was in tears because she thought she didn’t have her supplemental insurance anymore. She came in the office bringin’ the stuff she’d gotten from her insurance company. I read it all over then explained it to her and assured her she had not lost her insurance. Even called the company with her there so she could hear from them that everything is ok. She hugged me when she was leavin’. Yeah, that was a good day.
MOOOOOOM interestingly enough, dindin at da cave is also various fridge leftovers. Lots of little bits of stuff end up makin’ a good meal.
Ok, need to go do some stuff.
Later Y’all!
Yeah, I’ve seen lots of rental listings also. I know you aren’t buying - I didn’t know if you were planning to deal with landlords directly or use a realtor as a rental agent. As for good areas - Leonardtown, Hollywood, California, Mechanicsville, and Charlotte Hall are mostly decent. I’d be really careful about Lexington Park, Great Mills, and Lusby (which is across the river and a potential commuting nightmare.) If you start zeroing in on something, I’ll gladly offer you my biased opinion!
My sweetie came home with my keyboard shelf - gonna move my keyboard in a minute. Yay! It doesn’t take a lot to make me happy today apparently.
Stevia tastes like artificial sweetner to me. It’s so similar I almost get an aspartame headache from it.
I’m freaking exhausted today and I don’t know why. My back also won’t stop hurting. Even backrubs from Culinary Boy don’t help anymore. I may need to get a chiropractor…after I get this dentist appointment I’ve been talking about for a year.
I may need more coffee.
I saw that and thought it sounded really good. Although I’m thinking it could be improved with chocolate. Everything’s better with chocolate.
Have you talked to/heard from **Muppet **lately? I was thinking about her recently and wondering how she’s doing.
We had beastloaf and crash hot potatoes last night. I always think those potatoes should be really awesome and am always somewhat disappointed. Maybe not enough salt…? I’m not sure. Tonight’s going to be take-n-bake pizza.
Emailed Muppet a few days ago, and invited her and The Boy to Gnat’s evening birthday party (excuse for grownups to drink). We saw them just before Christmas. She’s doing fine, and I want her to move in and cook for us.
The milk punch is very, very good. I was wondering about putting in it Kahlua, myself.
LiLi if Muppet lived with you and Mr. Lissar and The Boy, between your bakin’ and her cookin’ The Boy and Mr. Lissar would weigh a minimum of 400 lb. each and we’d all be jealous of all the good eats at y’alls place. Jealous I say!
:dubious:
Ain’t no taters (N. O. T.) in that cookie recipe.
Oh, heee. I think taxi meant to link to a Pioneer Woman recipe.
Congrats, Bob, on the move and the increased salary!
I can has lotto winnings?
As long as you share with all of us…
Here’s the Crash Hot Potatoes link from the Mumper’s blog with a couple of suggestions for variations. And, yes, indeed, it’s one of Pioneer Woman’s recipes.
Oh, and :smack: on the capital thing, SO. Just mindlessly repeating. :smack: :smack: But cool picture, no?
And because I can’t help myself: the ISS in front of the sun picture guy? He has a blog.
Also, The Big Picture has a series of eclipse photos.
And, last, but not least, the Bad Astronomer linked to an Australian site that put his blog on a list of the 50 top blogs of 2010. Several of them are ones that I follow via Twitter. There are several that I’ve never heard of that sound interesting…
Got lots done at work today…and now I’m tired. Have watched the very end of last night’s OSU football game, knit a bit, and eaten some corn chips.
I would go back to knitting, but brother wants to go for a walk and… I’ma be a good girl and get some exercise.
Back later.
GT
I can has sharing them with you?
Mfghsmsfmmhg. The clementine cake is really good. Also, really easy. Damp, almondy, orangey flourless chocolate cake. taxi, you should make this.
